Do you wear a mask when you go out in public?

No it's not all about politics for me. If they were Republican governors, I would have said Republican.Wrong conclusion on your part in response to an actual fact that I stated concerning the number of deaths that someone else mentioned.. You look up the stats on the number of deaths in nursing homes in the states of the democrat governors who forced patients with Covid-19 into nursing homes. You'll see that what I said was valid, no matter your political affiliation if you're honest.

If you want to be considerate of others, then do not ever get in a car and drive. You are much more likely to injure or kill someone in a vehicle than you are of killing someone with covid-19.

According to the stats I saw, the chance of someone under the age of 60 dying from Covid-19 is .0012% to .002%, stated as a decimal only that would be .000012 to .00002
And it's going down.

Do you go around coughing in a person's face? Probably not. Do you even remember the last time you coughed? If so, did you cover your cough?(before you began wearing a mask) If you did, you accomplished what you would with a mask on. That is considerate of others without the negative affects of wearing a mask. If you are consistently coughing, why are you going out?

It's completely unnecessary the only point of mandating it is to scare people of each other and remind you that you're under the control of the nanny state. That Boston account is a Soros troll pay no attention to what they say

Most people will do whatever others do. (And never admit it.)

Exactly. A mere 3 months ago if you saw someone walking around with a mask on, you knew they had some nasty disease. Now thanks to the media creating a bunch of toilet paper hoarding (totally unnecessarily) lemmings, we have perfectly fine and healthy people ( the OVERWHELMING MAJORITY OF PEOPLE) being shamed for not wearing a mask that only serves to stop you feom spreading your germs and does dick to keep you from getting it.

Liberalism, like Covid 19, is a disease.

liberalism is far more dangerous and contagious. So is so called social distancing which is really socialist conditioning

And killing their own immune system. Sad Irony.

Its appalling how many people are willing to hand over their rights for a completely false sense of security over the flu.

We went back to Tennessee in the middle of March to visit family, and wound up staying for almost 2 months to help out with watching the grandkids and helping my in-laws out. Couldn't really get a good feel for people wearing them in TN because we made our grocery and Wal Mart orders as curbside pickup. The last day we were there, I did have to go into CVS and everyone there had a mask, including staff. When we got back home to Florida, we had to stock up on groceries. We went to Aldi, Publix, and Nelson Family Farms Produce. I'd guess that the mask wearing rate was 90% and people were very conscious about keeping their distance. Same deal when we had to go to the USPS today to pick up a package, and stopped at CVS and Big Lots. It was really rare to see anyone without a mask.

Which of the media created "...a bunch of toilet paper hoarding..." ?

I've noticed here that the more urban areas have much more usage. A Lexington Kroger was 80%+ while the BFE Dollar General I stopped by yesterday was about 20% tops. Even the cashiers weren't wearing them and someone was letting their kids run all over the place. It was in a county with 54 cases.

An observation: Working for UKPD, today I was posted at the E.D. Two Covid positive were brought in today on my shift. We have an entire floor devoted to Covid positive patients, and it's nearly full now.

The wrinkle? Every single one of them are inmates at either the FCDC or the FMC. Every one. It's obvious: those confined in close quarters are just naturally more prone to get this virus, just as those in nursing homes die like flies because all of them are in poor/very poor health to begin with.

Naturally I wear my mask when I'm around these patients, (I am never closer to one of them than 6-10 feet to begin with). Out in public I just no reason every one of us perfectly healthy people need to continue to wear one. If it makes you feel better, by all means wear one, but we have to get on with life, and this thing is not going away. Open everything back up, get people back to work, get the American economy rolling again. It's been stated by some doctors wearing a mask all the time does more harm that good: re- breathing your exhaled CO2, lack of enough oxygen entering your body, not allowing the bodies own defenses to work properly, etc, etc.

It's time...it's past time for Americans to wake up and do what needs to be done, JMHO.

When the government says you can't go fishing, to the park with your child, when they say it's "dangerous" to not wear a mask, when they tell us to "shelter in place" for a virus that has a fatality rate of @ 1%, when they threaten to put you in jail for not following their mandates to stay home, yet allow convicts OUT OF JAIL....it's all about power, politics, it just is and it's blatantly obvious.

Do you make your own?
I make my own (several layers of polypropylene) and I wear them when shopping.

Guess why I use polypropylene fabric?
Yes. Not outdoors, but when I go in some place. It’s a pain, but in the big picture a small imposition. It’s one I bought from a small outfit here, we’ll actually 2 of them. It’s a screaming, angry, American bald eagle coming in for the kill. I’m pissed. Not at anyone or group, but at an invisible, insidious germ. We’re going to stomp it’s ass into oblivion.

You do not prove your claims.

So, did you fabricate them?

2nd request
And, I will continue to point out how hysterical this is because youve now doubled and tripled down and still apparently cant read. [roll] This is ****ing delightful! I'll be here whenever the light bulb goes off for you guy. Until then, keep making "gotcha" posts while we laugh at you.

If you wore one all of the time, it might. Wearing one when you go into a store? No. I don't know anyone who is wearing a mask all the time. We wear ours when we go into any business. It's really not a big deal to do that.

JD. I wear one 8 to 12 hours a day at work. As do a lot of folks. When you factor that into the equation you're wearing one most of the time you're awake.

I've worn them at work as well, and under hot and dusty conditions. Still, it doesn't hurt to wear one of you're going into a place of business for a few minutes to shop. We're currently sitting on the beach and we don't have masks on, but there's no one within 100 ft of us.

I went to the Kroger liquor store yesterday. I had no intention of wearing a mask. My wife's friend made us some cloth masks. Whatever, I would attempt to wear it while inside the store.

a. The straps behind my ears hurt
b. It kept impeding my vision
c. It was getting hot to wear...and I only had it on for 5 minutes

I get migraines routinely. Enough where I have the appropriate medications to alleviate when necessary. The straps behind my ears will end up causing headaches/migraines eventually. I'm done with masks. I will NOT wear one. The issue will be my job plans on requiring masks while at work. I can't wait till it gets HOT (summertime) and people are fed up with the masks because it makes them hot. Good luck.

That’s a sterile environment
It turns out that there is no difference in infection rates when a healthy operating team wears a mask vs. not wearing a mask. Source.

So, you could say I told you so. Wearing a mask is of no use.

But what if the surgeon or nurse were sick and did not know it when the operated? If a patient were operated on and contracted an infection and found out that the operating team did not wear masks, that patient and their attorney would have a nice pay day.

In the OR, the operating team takes reasonable precautions to prevent infection. One way to do this is control the source of infection- the surgeon. In the case of going out in public, wearing a mask is to accomplish the same thing on a limited scale. It is to give limited control to potential sources. I say limited because it seems at best able to protect against larger droplets(spit, sneeze, cough) that could contain the virus. It is correct that a cloth mask doesn’t do much for other smaller airborne virus particles.

So what about a more scientific case for a mask? According to this article, "there is limited evidence from studies of other respiratory infections such as the avian influenza8 and seasonal influenza9 that homemade masks confer some degree of efficacy, ranging around 40–95% which although inferior to medical masks but certainly better than no masks at all.".

As for building up too much CO2, that seems to be rare in healthy people.

and https://www.forbes.com/sites/victor...ve-you-carbon-dioxide-poisoning/#6dba643c17f5

I can understand being reluctant believing the CDC who first came out and said not to wear a mask and has now reversed their position. But other reputable institutions such as Mayo Clinic are endorsing the use of masks by the public.

IMO, there is enough evidence to support the use of masks until we have a vaccine or conclusive evidence that masks either do not work at all or cause undue risk for the wearer. It is cheap, and simple.

Has anyone been turned away yet?
I stopped at a convenience store this past Tuesday. Gentleman standing in line in front of me was not masked. Clerk behind the counter said, "I can't check you out unless you've got a mask or face covering on". No argument ensued. Gent simply pulled his T-shirt up covering his mouth and nose. Clerk checked him out.

Currently, at the entrance to local grocery stores, employees and sometimes even Austin Police Dept. officers, are stationed. They check for face covers and will refuse entry. I've yet to see anyone who was refused entry get pissed. Those who are refused entry simply leave. A couple times, folks run back to their cars only to return covered up. Hence, all customers are masked.
