Diego Pavia . . . .

Have to keep him in the pocket. If he starts improvising, that's when he can be deadly. Kill, the OC, is very creative and sets up plays very well (see: at least two shovel passes that went for big yardage against Bama). Like many, many QBs, if we hit him often enough and get in his face, he will be much less effective. Also, we can't score only 20 points. We need a 28+ point output to give us the best chance to win, imo.

Ball control game for both teams just don’t see a lot of points in this one. Time of possession could be the a deciding factor.

Pavia may be the best QB in thr SEC. Not saying NFL but SEC best. I wish we had him. We would have beaten GA if he were taking snaps. He worries me big time. He is a DC nightmare.
I don’t think we beat Georgia with him as our QB, we still have the same OC and the same plays. Now I agree that a running QB gives us fits. I hope we use the same game plan we used for Jackson at UL. Make them one dimensional and take away the run.

I don't think Pavia is the best SEC QB but he is perfect for the offense he runs. When Vandy's office is clicking it can be a handful as Alabama learned. He scares me too but Stoops/White has game planned against some good running QB in Lamar Jackson, McKale Cunningham and had success.

This plus rush lane integrity. Getting out of rush lanes hurt us early vs ole miss. Good news though we cleaned it up and started shutting down dart.

Same concept this week.

Probably not a coincidence Pavia/Vandy are driving SEC defenses crazy while Jerry Kill is calling shots. That old fart knows his business.

Vandy is # 63 rushing offense- 169 yards a game. Kentucky rushing defense- #6 78 yards a game. Vandy passing offense- #94 198 yards a game. UK pass defense- #20 166 yards a game. Keep Pavia in the pocket and force the pass and we win.

Yes. Rush lane gap integrity.

Lose it and watch him hit the right gap every time.

He isn’t the running talent that was Lamar Jackson for U of L, but the styles are similar.

Now imagine Bama winning the SEC and going to the playoff.

Lol.

A tad different talent level, but ain’t that the crazy thing!!

Heck, VPI actually led Vandy for some part of their game. Bama literally looked overmatched for most of the game vs. Vandy, and never led.

VT played them tougher than Bama did.

It went to OT. Otherwise the games were similar. Bama had 2 TOs and VT had 1. VT had 397 yards with OT and Bama had 394 in regulation. VT held Vandy to 371 yards. Bama gave up 418. Bama scored 35, VT 27 in OT. Bama got its points by having the ball only 17:52, VT accumulated 25:28.

I watched both games. Anyone would be hard pressed to say one team looked better in the loss. I get it, you ACC guys love to tout conference, but trying to make a case for either loser in this instance is just silly.

The one thing I will give the VT is they they played without Drones for a bit in that game, but like Bama, they got behind early and only led for a short bit in the fourth before Vandy marched down and tied it.

Pavia is the kinda QB I like and I'm scared about this weekend. We usually don't have a good time with QB's like him who like to use their feet. i.e., 2022 Vandy game w/ Mike Wright

Touché

Vandy should have beaten Mo. Vandy’s loses cause you to scratch your head.

A good college QB can win you a lot of games. I watched Sat’s game and the last few minutes of the VaTech game. He’ll never play in the NFL, but he’ll give Brad White and other DCs all they can handle.

That's one area that is pretty impressive. Vandy has one turnover and no interceptions so far. They aren't beating themselves. I was going to have Vandy turnovers as our tiebreaker this week but I didn't want to jinx us.
