Diallo Entering Draft... Not hiring agent

well, to be honest - we're gonna get slammed for SOMETHING anyway; we're Kentucky
:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
LOL, this is very true.
I am good with the slaps we take for the "one and done"/"ruining the college game" comments, those are so old and outplayed that even UL fans stopped saying them.
But having dudes just practice and jump would be something that can't be defended, I mean, that's too far IMO.

Agree.I don't think it's unreasonable for fans to get upset IF he leaves before playing a single minute for us.I think it brings up questions fans have a right to ask.

Yea that whole "I'm not ready to play" line that Diallo fed Cal was bullsh!t and everyone knows it. It says a lot about a kid that's too scared to play because he's afraid of hurting his stock.

Seriously, name another player in the Cal era who would come in mid season and turn down the chance to play when Cal asks him too. Think Ulis would? Davis? Wall? Hell no. That was Ryan Harrowesque.

How do we know that Cal asked him to play?

So are the ones who refuse to acknowledge reality and pump sunshine 24/7 and think we're winning it all no matter what.

I'll say it again that if your sole reasoning for being happy is a championship of bust then you will be miserable 90% of the time no matter who you root for. If you can't be happy watching a program that plays exciting basketball, is the talk of College basketball pretty much 24-7, and has high integrity kids on and off the court then you and everyone else that wants to spout negative things daily are the problem and not Calipari. All the while winning more games than any program during his time here. Grow up and be a true fan for once.

Again, if Diallo leaves he should never have been recruited.

If he stays we are awesome.

Amazing that we fans can have it both ways.

UK did nothing wrong. So that is lame Jeff, media can't say anything.
I never asked to have it both ways. I care about UK, not the NBA, it's one thing for bigtime players to jump after one year, but now dudes like Hump and Briscoe are jumping and then we top it off with Diallo, a kid that didn't even play a second for UK.
My opinion is, it's wrong and is a bad look if he stays in the draft.
But he's not going to stay in the draft, he's just working out and listening to what NBA guys have to say about him. I think that is the right thing to do, but staying in the draft would be a slap to UK's face

Not going to read all 20+ pages of this but I can't wait until he comes back and half of these posters look like idiots.

If he goes, he goes.

I mean I don't know if it's because he hasn't played one game at UK or the fact that even when we got him I knew this was a possibility but I'm not mad at all about it.

And even if he does go without playing a single game, I'm not sure it's accurate to say he gave us nothing. How many times has Cal and the players talked about becoming better players because they have had to go against the best of the best in practice? You don't think that helped our guys. If he's going in the first round, of course it helped us.

Really? You think we'd pay to come watch you post?

The players and coaches made UK BB.
If the "players and coaches made UK BB" UK BB, then ul would be "UK BB"; memphis would be "UK BB"; UCLA would be "UK BB"...etc. etc.

It's the fanbase that makes us unique...we're why UK BB is UK BB.

Look to be a fan base this may be the worst case of coming together under banner I have ever seen. We all want UK to win it all ,have the very best of players available .
But that is not good enough for some of the fans. Some of you make posting a war zone, hatred among fans . The love of the game is what this is supposed to be about, not hate and discontent.

And besides Cal to us last year he would encourage the whole team to try out for the draft.

God bless you and may his peace over come the strife that is spreading in this forum.

The "one and done" has made you "one and numb."

Love all our guys, but I expect them all to go and I just dont get as attached. It also helps KNOWING Cal will bring in equivalent talent year after year.

I remember him being very unsure in the beginning. I think the quote read "I am 100% playing in college next year as of now"....or something along those lines.

Pretty much the way i feel. i love having a legitimate contender every year. i'm not an nba fan, so when the oad's leave, it's "good bye and good luck." lock and load.
I'm all in with cal's system.

Considering the fans response, I wouldn't come back...
I think he's smart enough to know that 70 percent of the people criticizing him are trolls pretending to be UK fans, and the other 30 percent are the hand wringers who always panic, and who will start kissing his ass the second he announces he is back.

Which he will eventually.

But you know the argument is always made by opposing fanbases wouldn't you rather have guys for 4 years. How can you be connected to a guy if they are only here 1 year?

Well yes of course. I mean I think we'd all want 4 years of John wall or Anthony Davis. That being said, I remember the Wall team, the Davis team, 2015,..........I'm more attached to these guys than I am the teams where we had 4 year guys but mediocre.

It only takes one scout to say that. If you're Gary Parrish, you find one that will call him a first rounder and that's the one you quote.

Nobody knows yet. If he knew, he would already be hiring an agent.
Unfortunately players and the people around them do the same thing. Hear what they want to hear. That is why there are 50-75 players thinking they will get 1 of 32 guaranteed deals.

The fans should be happy at this news...i mean why shouldnt they be happy about a kud that basically sits on yhe bench for half a season and plays with great players only to declare on last day to do so??? Uk fans should just feel great about that....nice take

You can't really go by a teenager's remarks because they change their mind every 5 minutes. We just better hope he returns because without him it will be tough for our guards.

They arent trolls...they dont like his decision and ots America..they dont have to like it

So since entering the draft.. he has said he plans to return? If he made that statement AFTER, then we're probably fine.

I tend to agree with this. Someone stated several pages ago that the only time this board would be together would be if we won the NC. That is sad but true. I think the older posters (most-not all) on this board are unhappy with the 'players first' 'one and done' philosophy and the younger posters are more open to it and don't necessarily like the 'name on the front of the jersey' mentality. I get that, times change. Everyone can have an opinion and opinions are neither right or wrong but I get the impression that things are tilting towards Cal and the players being the focus of UK basketball and the history and team concept are not the priority they once were. I'm not saying that fans don't want a title at all, just saying that a swaggy Cal and soon to be NBA stars appeals to a larger portion of the fan base as time passes.

Rupp made UK basketball. He turned a simple game into something Kentuckians could love and take deep pride in. Without the intense fan support UK would be like every other school. So, I'd agree that fans didn't make UK basketball but fans did blow it up into the greatest program in history. We have top notch facilities because of fans and money. We're always on tv because of fans. We get elite coaches because of support, facilities and money. We get recruits because of coaches, support, facilities and tv. Coaches come and go, so do players, but the BBN is eternal.
