Maybe Diallo was just a lottery ticket that Cal took knowing he has only a fraction of a chance to cash. Still worth it if you have an open scholarship (which UK did).
What a selfish thread. Me...Me...Me...
Handwringing: Level 1000000000000000000000000
Setting the over/under at 10 pages.
It’s not so “either/or” with Diallo. After 8 years of Cal, most of us get it. We understand the financial argument.
There’s a third group of people in this debate, however – the group that understands that Diallo is actually projected top go top 20 next year in a weak-ass draft. That’s substantially different than his present status as a mid-2nd round pick to potentially not even drafted in the present draft.
He has a better chance of making real money with another year in school. That’s not really debatable at this point. Thus, the “you guys are selfish if you want him back” is really quite lacking if one looks at the present data. Currently, Diallo is hardly even considered a 2nd round pick.
It’s not selfish to point out what the data/feedback/facts actually presently represent.
Because he was the #1SG and we dont have one next year.
He and his HS coach both said he wasnt ready for college ball yet.
Cal watched him everyday.
If the next SG we could have gotten was Shai (dual) or Baker what did we lose?
We could only win in this situation, there simply wasn't another stud heading our way that we know of.
If he does come back many on here will look silly for asking why did we take him?
Who knows what will happen.
I just hope Cal has a good backup plan.He had to know leaving was a possibility.Maybe Diallo was just a lottery ticket that Cal took knowing he has only a fraction of a chance to cash. Still worth it if you have an open scholarship (which UK did).
Honestly if this kid does stay in the draft, I wish him nothing but the best

But not to play during the season. Makes sense.Shouldn't be pissed at all. It's another argument in favor of Cal that his practices prepare you for the pros.
Yes I would have said no unless he guaranteed that he would come back for another year. No one knows the details but I highly doubt that Cal got that guarantee from the kid. So many variables in play as others have mentioned from the recruiting butterfly effect, the negative PR that will reign down from the media about the situation and the message that it sends to future recruits that UK is even more about "that NBA life." If a kid is a first rounder he should leave and go to the league no questions asked. But it's also true that UK basketball will suffer and likely not win a championship with this level of roster turnover.
People are upset because a scholarship is a one year contract where a player (if eligible) receives: free education & free lodging in addition to instruction from college caliber coaches in return for playing a sport and representing their university. He never played in a game while still reaping all the benefits in particular top flight basketball coaching in specific areas of instruction. He was eligible to play and physically able of body but he did not actually play while still receiving all the benefits of the contract he signed. People are pissed he didn't fulfill his end of the contract and IF Cal allowed him to do that then people are upset at coach that he allowed it to occur.
He didn't want to play. Makes perfect sense. Unless you are an obvious troll like you.Cal look
But not to play during the season. Makes sense.
Yeah I don't see him leaving. He would have to shoot it amazingly well to make up for the reality of his in game performances.
If you are drafting late first, do you really pass on someone like Kennard or Josh Hart for Diallo? And Hart isn't even projected first round, for that matter.
Of course it only takes one, and if someone is willing to invest a first round pick in Diallo, more power to him.
Then go follow another team. It isn't changing.I'm as big as a UK fan as anyone.... But I'm getting over losing all our players every year.... I know if you recruit the best players your going to lose a few... We lose a whole team every year... Save your troll bull shit ... It's old as shit... I love UK ... I'm over being a NBA stepping stone
I just hope Cal has a good backup plan.He had to know leaving was a possibility.
No it isn't. Not in the least. Now we know why he signed baker and trying to sign Smith. This is a devastating blow to our team next year if he goes.
I would, but maybe that's why I'm not an NBA GM lol.
Houston has often drafted in the 14-22 range in recent years.. Most of those players never amounted to anything. Jeremy Lamb, Royce White.. Yeah you got some years of Terrence Jones and Patterson.. but those picks were more or less useless. The 2nd round is quite silly if you step back and look at it.. 30 picks.. maybe 5 do anything note worthy in the NBA.. most don't even last past a year or two.
I'd take a flier on Diallo in the 2nd. What do you have to lose?
My post is based on him not coming back.Because he was the #1SG and we dont have one next year.
He and his HS coach both said he wasnt ready for college ball yet.
Cal watched him everyday.

You go follow another team clown....Then go follow another team. It isn't changing.
Reasoning behind that? I think it makes us a 10 loss team at least as we have no guard play if he leaves. No it isn't. Not in the least.
Isn't it fun? I do love it so!!!!I feel like there is a civil war about to break out on this board.
Really?Diallo is really a talented and explosive player.Shooting needs work but it could improve.Of course it would be a huge blow if he leaves. No it isn't. Not in the least.
I love Cal and his system. I'm perfectly content. I suggest you follow Princeton where they stay all four years and give it the ole college try.You go follow another team clown....
Your a confusing individual. #1 SG not ready for college but ready for NBA in 4 months.![]()
Yea. All of these guys coming in, not playing, taking roster spots and then leaving, making the team worse.... ohhhhhh the horror.Absolutely ridiculous and bullchit. If he ends up staying in the draft then I honestly won't care if Cal leaves anymore. This got old after about year #5 and it's crap now.
No it doesn't. The roster isn't set yet. He couldn't shoot anyway, remember?Reasoning behind that? I think it makes us a 10 loss team at least as we have no guard play if he leaves.
The roster isn't set yet. Don't you agree with that?Really?Diallo is really a talented and explosive player.Shooting needs work but it could improve.Of course it would be a huge blow if he leaves.

If he is just working out and getting feedback from the pros and plans to return, it makes perfect sense.
I'm over this shit.... Cal wins a ton of games... But he's left a few titles on the board...I love Cal and his system. I'm perfectly content. I suggest you follow Princeton where they stay all four years and give it the ole college try.
As has Coach K.I'm over this shit.... Cal wins a ton of games... But he's left a few titles on the board...
This class is not guard heavy.
If he didnt cause us to miss on anyone great then it's not an issue, other than our expectations for next year.![]()
Yep can't really miss, what you never had. I honestly don't get the outrage.Sounds like he's gone to me. At least we'll never know what we were missing. He might have been another Briscoe.
