Daniel Craig/ James Bond Replacement

If Charlie effing Hunnam gets the role, I'm off Bond movies forever.

WTF is wrong with some of you?
What's wrong with Hunnam? I'm really not familiar with his work. I've never watched a single episode of SOA. He is a Brit though. He is tall and attractive and can play an alpha. It's not like Bond calls for any serious acting chops. I agree with your picks other than Law. Fassbender is probably the most talented actor that has been suggested so far.

"I wish the stage were as narrow as the wire of a tightrope dancer, so that no incompetent would dare step upon it.” Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Do this and then you'll understand. Hunnam makes Bill Paxton look like Laurence Olivier.

Daniel Craig definitely rugged'd Bond up a bit. He was never meant to be a muscle bound action hero. I wouldn't mind the Bond series going back to what Ian Fleming intended him to be... But in the end, I just want to be freaking entertained.

What's your top 5 Bond Movies?

1) Goldfinger
2) Casino Royale
3) From Russia With Love
4) Skyfall
5) GoldenEye

Just saw an article written yesterday that said right now the odds are 3/2 for Damian Lewis to be the next Bond.... Don't know much about him other than he is a ginger. He is followed by Idris Elba at 4/1, Henry Cavill 5/1 and Fassbender 7/1.

There was a bit of an uproar from some fans when Craig was announced, due to his blonde hair... now, a redhead might replace him.

After him, maybe it'll be a bald Bond? Dreadlocks? Mohawk?

I've read every novel, a dozen or so cultural histories and scholarly/philosophical breakdowns, have watched every film at least a dozen times - including listening to the audio track only at least twice for each film, and have my own podcast which you may enjoy if you like Bond:

Maybe I overlooked it... but who is your pick for the next Bond?

I don't think I've seen a single show/movie that Damian Lewis has done. When his name was mentioned in this thread, I had to look him up.

Regardless, James Bond tends to spend a little time at the beach, now and then. If Lewis is the pick, they'll need Q to develop some special sunscreen and aloe vera concoctions.

Lol. And you haven't seen Band of Brothers? Also, first season of Homeland is pretty amazing.

I haven't had cable/dish TV service for the past 15+ years. Plus, those are on the "extra" channels, such as HBO... which I probably wouldn't have purchased. I'll have to give in at some point, since all of the UK games are going that direction.

Everyone I know that watches those 2 series gives them a big thumbs-up, though. I guess the guy must be doing something right, if he's getting serious consideration for the next 007.

Others have pointed it out but, while Elba seems like he'd fit the role almost perfectly, he'd be about as old for his FIRST film as Daniel Craig is in SPECTRE which may be his last film. Roger Moore was 46 at his first film, but I'd think they'd go with someone a bit younger.

^ would highly, highly recommend Band of Brothers. Homeland you can skip. Only issue with Lewis is his weird mouth thing. His pastiness fits in with the British Isles, so no issues there.

Why does it have to be somebody that everyone knows? You only need four emotions to play Bond, happy, horny, thirsty, and pissed. Get some young British dude and make him Bond for a while. Wales might be a good place to find one.

Sounds good. I'm going to take your advice... I just filed requests for the (6) BoB DVDs at the local library.

Hopefully, they'll all arrive in the next couple weeks, and I can binge-watch some of them during the Thanksgiving holiday stretch.

I finally made it to Spectre and I hope this isn't Craig's last. I was disappointed and would like to see him do one more like Skyfall before going out. I didn't want to like him but I have to say he, by a nose, is my favorite Bond.

I'm ok with Elba. I like that Craig's bond is a bit edgier than the others and hope they keep the trend.

Another actor to consider is Cillian Murphy. Most people know him as the Scarecrow in the Dark Knight films, but after watching him in Peaky Blinders I think he might transition pretty well into the Bond role.
