Good morning folks.

I had a rare opportunity yesterday afternoon to, along with our editor-in-chief, interview via video phone hookup, Donald Trump. We’re talking with Kamala Harris Friday.

We do these interviews every four years and run a cover story on candidates’ views, so this is the third time with Trump.

By agreement with the candidates what they say is close held until October 1, so I can’t share any of that. I will say I wish everybody could experience Trump in that setting. He’s charming, articulate, lucid, and polite. We limit the interviews to direct responses to issues important to people over 50, so it focuses things. I’ll post what he said 10/1 if anyone is interested.

Heading back to DC on the train. I hope it’s a good day for all.

Okay fellows who of you have go out on company business and come back to the office to see a note on the back of one of you business cards with this note?

Those of two greats.

Wear a necklace with cloves of garlic AND a cross around your neck for the next one. May get cackle attacked... (Apologies, I couldn't help myself...)

Good morning folks.

A hot day in the east. We had the AC go down a couple days ago, and my wife's reaction was roughly what mine would be if I were on a jet plane that lost a wing at 30,000 feet.

Luckily the guy could come out and fix it yesterday. Unluckily it was a "capacitor" and he charged me $423 for parts and labor. Was it really a capacitor? Who knows. He could have told me it was the "Frammleblaster" and I'd have no way to dispute him. Bottom line, I got home and the house was cold enough to hang meat and my wife was all smiles. Can you pay too much for that?

Hope you guys have a good day.

My house in Summerville had that issue a couple years ago with the other tenants I had. I had the rent so right for them that he charged me for the part. ($60.00) and did the labor. On to now though, they are gone and I have a couple "lawyers" renting from me. My house built in 2015, I put a complete new heat and A/C system in, the year previous I replaced the dishwasher, that year too a garbage disposal and just yesterday I okayed replacing the "springs" in my garage door that set me back $495.00. Oh I wish they offered to buy it. Would take them extra dough for sure....

Ha! Same issue - capacitor - back in early May. First fairly warm day & thought I'd test it before heat set in. Good thing. $298 for 2009 York AC. First repair we've had since instalIation (Replaced our 1986 one.). Me, I thought that was a reasonable price/cost. Next day service.

Don't know much more than you other than tech saying capacitor stores a bit of energy to boost/ease AC's restart after turning itself off & coming back on. He also said government is forcing a new AC coolant, & thus AC systems, on the country that is highly flammable. Coming out in next 1-2 years. Said he thinks he'll retire when that happens. Can't wait.

What an experience !!

I really enjoy the STARZ series Outlander. Wrapping up rewatching the entire seven seasons viewed over the last 6 weeks or so. About 75 total episodes. I had forgotten over half of it. New season in the Fall. I believe that will be the end.

Episode I watched today has the lead character Jamie Frazer as a militia colonel in Daniel Morgan's sharpshooters at the battle of Saratoga. DW's 5th great grandfather Patrick Hourigan from Ireland was a Morgan Sharpshooter under a Captain Long in that battle. He had enlisted in New Jersey and was ~17 at the time. In return for his 3 years service, he received 100 acres of land in Washington County, Ky. Cool connection even though fake.

Getting closer and closer to kickoff gentleman.

Schedule is very tough this year, can't slip up against any team we should beat. I put us in the 6-6 to 8-4 range with 7-5 most likely. Have to beat everyone not named Georgia and Ole Miss the first six games and start 4-2.

I doubt we really will have a chance against Georgia but I'm not conceding Ole Miss. A number of their wins last year were by a touchdown or less. If we are good, that game will be up for grabs late.

First time I glanced at that schedule I saw 6-6.
Very possible. Away games against Ole Miss, Florida, Texas and Tennessee plus a home game against UGA. USC has beaten the Cats the past 2 years. UL is no given. Auburn is still Auburn. I'll stick with 7-5 but that might be a little optimistic. Need an upset.

For me, our schedule is bimodal: 4 extremely tough games, 3 in the middle, & 5 very easy to not that tough.

Good morning from Varis Guest House in Lerwick, Shetland Islands. Currently 52°F, cloudy and windy. Today's high may reach 55°F.

Really enjoyed myself here in the Shetlands thus far. More so than Orkney's.

Ship shoves off at 5 pm local. Plan on arriving at least by 3 pm for check in. 14-hour overnight voyage down to Aberdeen. I've reserved a sleeping pod for this trip.

Ask and ye shall receive.

Good morning folks. Very light rain during my run this morning. Glad to have made it to Friday and to be looking ahead to a long weekend.

I'm supposed to be part of a Kamala Harris interview today. But her staff is jerking us around, and saying it might have to be tomorrow (Saturday of a long weekend.) We'll see.

So, we'll find out some things about the football Cats this weekend. Honestly, I've been a fan too long to expect much. Pencil in another 7-5 with three cupcake wins and Vanderbilt, and 3-5 against the real schedule. Honestly, I hope that isn't too optimistic. Elsewhere, I am really hoping Texas A&M can throttle Notre Dame tomorrow night. That alone would make the opening weekend for me. A few other good games.

I hope you all have an easy Friday.

It is already 78.8°F here at 8:55 am on our way to 96°. Yesterday was a hot one.

@MdWIldcat55 Harris is scared of a microphone or a reporter with a note pad. She changed every one of her positions from 4 years ago last night on CNN. I don't understand how she ever got out of law school.

She setup an interview with a Korean news station, then at the appointed time sent them a pre-recorded video. (This within the last couple days.)

Good morning everyone.

You all have something else in common with me....you look better as a couple than as an individual. I say that often about myself.

We've been in Pigeon Forge this week. Walked the entire Cades Cove loop ( a little over 12 miles). We only saw one bear, but did see over 20 deer.

Getting close to watching a game again.

I hope everyone has a great day.

I tell people all the time, I am the black sheep of my family. They laugh. They see my picture, they quit laughing.

I use a classic John Wayne quote: "I am God-given lucky."

I was out at 5:30 am for a run and heard right outside my house a really eerie, mournful cry. Much more robust and spooky than a Mourning Dove. I managed to get a recording on my I-Phone and sent it to my stepfather-in-law, who is an avid birder.

The verdict: This guy, the Barred Owl.
