I have a vivid memory of this song.
@Ben101er who used to post here knew Burl Ives personally. Burl would stop by to see his family. I love Burl Ives.
FLASH!!!!!!!
IN CONTROVERSIAL MOVE, SMALL TOWN MAYOR PARDONS HIMSELF FROM ANY OR ALL OFFENSES, PAST OR PRESENT, UPON HIS EXIT FROM OFFICE.
Not exactly correct, Bert. We were good friends with the Director of the Paramount Arts Center in Ashland and Burl was doing a show there. She told him that she was in the Boyd County Humane Society, and that my wife and I were officers, along with the work we did. Burl and his wife were big animal lovers so they wanted to meet us. The Director gave us a call and said she was bringing someone to our house that wanted to meet us. She showed up with Burl Ives and his wife. Very down to earth people and he wrote us a check for $100 as a donation. Real thrill for us, but that was the only time we met him. This was probably around 1980 or so. BTW, good hearing from you.I have a vivid memory of this song.

Here int he north region of KY, we've been under 60F the last three morns. Heading out for my 4 miles stroll momentarily.@AustinTXCat the world traveler.
For the first time in a long time the temp outside is 58.5°F. Wow! I may go out and get cold! We are supposed to be sunny and top out at 83°F which ain't bad for August in southern Kentucky.
I rewatched the USA men's basketball game against France. It was fun seeing three ex-UK guys standing side by side with gold medals around their necks.
You all enjoy the start of a new week.
