Wednesday, Wednesday, La la la la la la... no wait...

Mike, Mike, Mike...what day is it?

It's Hump Day!

That's all I got; you guys try to enjoy the day after our first loss. Probably see another this weekend. Although in the prediction thread I had to choose UK to win against Gonzaga.

My how quickly things change on RR. Cats go up against a very good, highly motivated team in front of a hostile crowd for their first true road game and lose. That's never happened before. I'm not concerned. They still had a shot to win. The shots just didn't drop. It had to happen and now is as good of time as ever. I have no doubt that Pope will make adjustments. May not be enough for Gonzaga (for now) but they'll be ready when the SEC starts.

Good morning folks.

Tough night for the Cats. I had to get up very early so I couldn't watch a game starting at 9:30...Sounds like bad shooting, and an inability to defend the post.

82, I hear you about Rafters. But, as I'm sure you realize, if you look at the names you haven't seen since the Duke win who are atarting threads and piling on, you realize its 90 percent imbeciles with nothing better to do with their time than pretend to be Cat fans and whip up bad vibes after a loss. I don't think the mods want to stop it, because it drives traffic and makes money for the site, but it makes it impossible for real fans to discuss the games logically.

Grinding through today and tomorrow then off to Kentucky early Friday. My father's not feeling well, so some worrisome times.

You all take care.

Best wishes for your dad. Today would have been my dads 101'st birthday. I still miss him.

Something kind of unique and most people would never think about it: A soft pleat lamp shade has a styrene inner liner with a pleated cloth glued on to it. Traditionally the wire at the bottom of the shade has been on the inside of the shade. It still is on laminated shades. With a soft pleat, there was a problem with the shades "ringing" when you stack them. About 40 years ago, we were the first company to do an outside ring, thereby allowing stacking. All it took was a slight modification to the pattern and slight modification to the binding machine.

BTW, soft pleats have gone out of style because so many domestic suppliers have gone out of business. It takes a special machine to do the pleating, and there is no one around to do it. One small place (like us) bought some used pleating equipment, but they couldn't figure out how to use it. Some of us still have a few pleats left from the old days, but you can't buy new pleats..

Stacking without having to use spacers may not seem important when you are the consumer with a couple of shades, but to the manufacturer or distributor it was huge.

@MdWIldcat55 tell you dad another old man is rooting for him.

I was sort of proud of the Cats last night. They never lost their fight. They were cold from the three but Clemson really put pressure on the shooters. In the NCAA tourney the officials will not allow that type of physical play.

You all have a good hump day.

P.S. I am looking forward to the Auburn / Duke game tonight. Should be a good one.

Good morning from Bamberg, Germany. Currently 32°F and overcast. Cold. Freeze warnings in effect.

Yeah, Cats lost to Clemson Tigers. Just saw score and read stats. Bummer. This year, seems UK loses deciding games when I visit Germany.

Heading west to Frankfurt after breakfast. Grab a room there at Radison Park West near Flughafen.

Got some photos yesterday; however, here's one taken with the good luck charm in front of 800 year-old church last week before trip out here to Bamberg. Thanks, @cordmaker .

Bert, one thing that caught my attention was the fact that the guy that had 20 rebounds and NO fouls, I can't ever remember a center fighting for rebounds and no fouls!!!!

Good morning from Park Hotel at Radisson by Frankfurt Airport. Currently 31°F, extremely cloudy and chilly.

Nice hotel. Walking over to the U-Bahn S8 and boarding a train to the main terminal. Love these direct flights between Austin and Frankfurt. I've had an awesome trip so far.

Below is one of many reasons Bamberg is a UNESCO World Heritage site. On a clear day, you can take some truly stunning photos.

Good morning folks. Gloomy and a light rain in the east. My wife is running what she swears is her last marathon today, so I hope the weather stays cool but turns dry.

My last work day this week. Heading for Kentucky tomorrow. Dad is still in the hospital but my sister said he was a little better yesterday.

Thanks belatedly for the good wishes for his recovery, and of course I appreciate any further prayers.

You all have a good day.

Good morning from ATX. Currently 45°F and cloudy. Windy. Decent chance for rain. Today's high may reach 52°F.

Really good trip. Got to see a few things, although weather held me in check. Loved the beer and food. Former in-laws were awesome. Heh, Germans now celebrating "Black Friday".

Back in Austin and back to work.

Happy Friday, y'all.

Interesting candy selection at Galeria, Bamberg.

Good morning D-League.

Heading for Kentucky this morning. My wife was able to move around her schedule and is coming with me. That’s mostly good news. But it moved my departure up from 5:30 to around 7:30, if I had to guess when she’ll be ready. And the drive that takes me under eight hours will be 9.5 with the stops. But all good. I’m glad to have her along.

It’s cold here and it looks like it’s a bit colder in Northern Kentucky. We’ll be in Campbell County, with maybe a drive out to Bracken.

I hope you folks have a good weekend. Go Cats.

Conway.... "It's Only Make Believe"...

HAHA,

I just remembered, My Mom thought Conway was IT back in the day.

I hope all are doing well. Some areas have been fixed in our home but the ceiling sanding going on now. My Darling is upstairs in our guest bedroom with a towel under the door and our large air cleaner running. The heat is off and they are sanding away. My Darling has serious allergies as I know she has them bad as she called me telling me the dust was getting to her and they just had started. (She didn't even know they were sanding yet.)

I guess I will brag a little. You guys have seen how much I post about baseball. I have 2 grandsons who live in Florida and are doing well in baseball. My daughter just applied for the 14 year old to try out for an elite travel team in Tampa. At the time she talked to the manager, over 300 had applied and they were still taking applications. The manager had already seen him play and told her, "No try out is necessary. He is on the team" the team sponsor has a son who is the #1 rated ss for the age group in Florida. The managers son is the #2 pitcher in Florida for the age group. The sponsor has his own practice facility with very nice living quarters for the boys. They have college coaches coming in working with (and scouting) the boys. They are even working with the boys on handling media. I don't think it will go to his head and he has been raised right. He has quite an oppurtunity. I hope he takes advantage of it.

Sir,

SUPER to hear!!! Thanks... If my memory holds Florida is the cream of baseball prospects and players yearning to aspire to the League. From minimal statements, already prospects. That is enjoyable to know.

My daughter was pretty good in softball and I taught her a lot. She actually managed his travel team for 2 years. They have been taking him and his brother to a place in Tampa where former pro players work with the kids. He is moving on up past what she could help with now. Btw both brothers are primarily catchers.

Oh, Commodities too!!!

Greetings from Alexandria, Kentucky.

Sitting in a rehab center where they have moved dad. He is doing better than I feared based on reports from earlier this week.

My sister, three brothers and assorted other relatives and filtering in and out. So, in its own way it’s a gathering of the clan.

Hope you folks are enjoying the football. Big chance for the Cats tonight. I feel hopeful.

Hello again,

Just got back from church. Had our Christmas production of a Christmas Carol. (Twice today at 3 and 6, once yesterday. I attended all performances.) Pretty amazing actually. Had some serious singers perform very well. I saw this three times as My Darling performed in the background...

2 hours to go. I'm actually feeling good about tonight's game in Seattle. My home back in the 80s.

UGA takes down Texas in an OT thriller. Gets the bye in the playoffs. Huge.

(I'm no and never have been a basketball expert.) (Could never much more than jump off my toes. No leaping ability at all.) What metric shows Gonzaga favored over the Cat's? Looking at stats I do not see one, other than free throws... is it the location? Thanks

Technically not a true home court. Gonzaga is in Spokane, the other side of Washington but yes, it adds to the spread. Plus the Zags are pretty damn good.

Me and my brother could both jump pretty high. When I was a senior in high school, I was about 5' 7" and he was a little taller. I could jump and grab the rim with one hand but could not dunk. With a running jump he could get both hands above the rim and dunk. However, neither of us played for our high school team. Did not even try out. Our stepfather had us working for him after school (if he was close enough) and on weekends in Dry wall. Hated it. We did get to play church ball on occasion and won the E-Town city league one year when he allowed us to play.
