D-League

Good morning from Burbach, Germany. Currently 29°F and cold. Windy. Heading down to Bamberg later today.

Yeah, Cats stunk it up in football yesterday against evil Cards. Bah! Hope Stoops makes changes.

Went to Christmas Market last night in Siegen with nephew. Got a good buzz off 3 Glüweins. Heh. Awesome on a cold winter night.

Wishing y'all a good one.

Glad I missed this game. My condolences for those that didn’t. 😁
I missed it too. I was at a karate testing for 7 seven brown belts to black belts. After going through about 3 hours of the normal process of showing they know the required material (Katas, kicks, punches, elbow and other strikes), they had to break boards and or concrete slabs. Once finished, we got back to old school fighting as we had a few busted mouths and noses with a possible broken hand. Good fighting yesterday as full contact was implemented as well as take downs and then point fighting. Each participant had to fight at least nine people at 2 minutes each with the first minute of each bout being full contact and the second minute point contact to show what is called quick kills. Fight until a point is scored and then back away to disengage and then reengage with another attack until time was up. The only break during their fights for those testing was when one the fighters helping with the test bowed out and another bowed in and took their place.

Age range was from 16 to 40 something. Best fight was against two women. One was a 23-year-old 3rd degree black belt fighting a 20-year-old brown belt testing for her black and apparently, there was a little bad blood there between the two. It was the last fight for the 20-year-old, and she was very tired. That did not matter to the 23-year-old as she went at her with everything she had. After getting knocked down, she (the 20-year-old) got up and it was on. It became a free for all and when all was said and done, the 23-year-old was hurting too. This was old school testing, and these people earned their black belts the hard way.

Have been watching some Christmas Market videos on YouTube the past few days with my wife and daughter. They said they would like to go someday because it looked so beautiful. I went to quite a few in the 8 plus total years I spent during 3 tours to Germany. Glue Wein was definitely a staple of mine during those times. Really helped keep me warm. Food was good too.

With the forfeiture of 10 wins in 2021 Stoops has a losing record at UK in 12 years. Horrible SEC record too. Granted his first 3 seasons were building years but with the exception of a few it's a pretty ho hum record. Definitely not worth what UK is paying him. Unfortunately, the program is heading in the wrong direction and I don't see any relief in sight. 8 straight bowl seasons but the schedule almost always guarantees a low-level bowl.

Good morning folks.

Thanks for the laughs BB. The great LaWanda Page and the legendary Redd Foxx. There's some good NSFW LaWanda Page routines on the internet. She had a wild, fascinating career.

Cold and clear in the east, It was 23f when I headed out for my run just before dawn.

Starting the march through Christmas movies. Love this time of year.

You all have a great day.

Good morning everyone

Good game to come away with a W and score over 100 even if the 3-pt shooting was poor. Loving this team but it now gets real. We'll see. I wonder why Williams only played 19 minutes with Garrison on the sideline? Surprising. Something I also noticed and haven't seen mentioned....Carr hip checks on many of the screens he sets. I can't remember him being called for it so no biggie.

Our heat pump went out last night. Bad timing, but we can make due with the fireplace and a couple of electric heaters.
I'd turn our stove & oven on full blast too. Did that a ski resort some 20 years ago when the temp dropped to -20 & the furnace wasn't keeping up. Did the trick.

Don't forget Die Hard and Trading Places. Every year I have to watch those, and my wife will not watch with me because she tells me they are not Christmas movies. I tell her "yes they are, they happen at Christmas time".

Good morning from Bamberg, Germany. Currently 33°F, overcast with rain. Local temperatures should climb above freezing today. Watching RTL TV. Ulrich Wetzel. Picture a reserved version of Judge Judy. In fact, lawyers and witnesses are much more dramatic than the judge, himself. Love the commercials.

Hit up Schenkerla brewery late yesterday. Love the smoked beer. Ate some pork knuckle. Hitting up other local breweries just down the street.

Monday, Monday.... Wishing y'all another great day.

Smoked beer. Acquired taste. Love it.

Good morning folks.

22 F in the east. Clean and clear skies. My morning walk is lovely.

Cats with their first true road game tonight. I’d love to see this enjoyable season stay perfect a while longer.

Heading to the subway station for my first commute in 12 days. I didn’t miss it. But my part of DC will be lit up for Christmas and those of us happy to see Joe Biden scuttling off will have reasons to walk past the White House with more joy and energy in our step.

Have a great day.

Good morning from Bamberg, Germany. Currently 32°F and overcast. Cold. Freeze warnings in effect.

Yeah, Cats lost to Clemson Tigers. Just saw score and read stats. Bummer. This year, seems UK loses deciding games when I visit Germany.

Heading west to Frankfurt after breakfast. Grab a room there at Radison Park West near Flughafen.

Got some photos yesterday; however, here's one taken with the good luck charm in front of 800 year-old church last week before trip out here to Bamberg. Thanks, @cordmaker .

Wednesday, Wednesday, La la la la la la... no wait...

Mike, Mike, Mike...what day is it?

It's Hump Day!

That's all I got; you guys try to enjoy the day after our first loss. Probably see another this weekend. Although in the prediction thread I had to choose UK to win against Gonzaga.

My how quickly things change on RR. Cats go up against a very good, highly motivated team in front of a hostile crowd for their first true road game and lose. That's never happened before. I'm not concerned. They still had a shot to win. The shots just didn't drop. It had to happen and now is as good of time as ever. I have no doubt that Pope will make adjustments. May not be enough for Gonzaga (for now) but they'll be ready when the SEC starts.

Good morning folks.

Tough night for the Cats. I had to get up very early so I couldn't watch a game starting at 9:30...Sounds like bad shooting, and an inability to defend the post.

82, I hear you about Rafters. But, as I'm sure you realize, if you look at the names you haven't seen since the Duke win who are atarting threads and piling on, you realize its 90 percent imbeciles with nothing better to do with their time than pretend to be Cat fans and whip up bad vibes after a loss. I don't think the mods want to stop it, because it drives traffic and makes money for the site, but it makes it impossible for real fans to discuss the games logically.

Grinding through today and tomorrow then off to Kentucky early Friday. My father's not feeling well, so some worrisome times.

You all take care.

Best wishes for your dad. Today would have been my dads 101'st birthday. I still miss him.

Something kind of unique and most people would never think about it: A soft pleat lamp shade has a styrene inner liner with a pleated cloth glued on to it. Traditionally the wire at the bottom of the shade has been on the inside of the shade. It still is on laminated shades. With a soft pleat, there was a problem with the shades "ringing" when you stack them. About 40 years ago, we were the first company to do an outside ring, thereby allowing stacking. All it took was a slight modification to the pattern and slight modification to the binding machine.

BTW, soft pleats have gone out of style because so many domestic suppliers have gone out of business. It takes a special machine to do the pleating, and there is no one around to do it. One small place (like us) bought some used pleating equipment, but they couldn't figure out how to use it. Some of us still have a few pleats left from the old days, but you can't buy new pleats..

Stacking without having to use spacers may not seem important when you are the consumer with a couple of shades, but to the manufacturer or distributor it was huge.

@MdWIldcat55 tell you dad another old man is rooting for him.

I was sort of proud of the Cats last night. They never lost their fight. They were cold from the three but Clemson really put pressure on the shooters. In the NCAA tourney the officials will not allow that type of physical play.

You all have a good hump day.

P.S. I am looking forward to the Auburn / Duke game tonight. Should be a good one.
