Good morning folks. Enjoying the chaos of young grandkids —as long as it’s for a limited time. Nothing will prove an aging man’s limitations like trying to keep up with a 3-year/old boy.

We’re off to a b-day party. Have a great day folks.

Be thankful MdW...

They are truly a blessing and the true love of a child is Christ-like.... The BB and LBBB are close regularly. My other four now FaceTime regularly... It DO take up a lot of time though.....-Weeeellll.....-R. Cogburn...

Me breakfast... (Almost couldn't eat that last biscuit... almost...)

And...my coffee..

Good morning from Boston Logan Airport. Returned from Iceland last night. Here at Southwest Airlines gate preparing to fly out.

Wishing y'all a great day.

More safe travels Austin. I have really enjoyed the photos you shared. Maybe there are more.

Bad about the President. The left win media's hate that has been spewed out the last 8 years is starting to catch up. There are many folks that can't filter out the evil from rhetoric. The perp was a 20 year old! Geeze.

Good morning from the KC airport. A whirlwind visit to see the grandkids and Daughter/SIL. We squeezed in a lot. Along with b-day parties and soccer games, went to the Harry Truman library, a cool, eccentric museum built around the excavation of a nearly intact steamboat that sank near here in 1856, the Arabia, a visit to the Union Station train exhibitions and a quick return visit to the WW1 museum, which is amazing for those who have an interest in military history. Really elite.

Hoping for a hassle free trip back to DC Reagan.

Make sure it "ain't" Dallas uh, Dulles... 😁

Good afternoon all,

Have to hit it hard tomorrow but relaxing a bit the last couple days though I have hit my garage hard, ridding us of junk for space. Still much to do... I guess the kids are coming over to eat though so i won't do much today. (Do have to haul some dirt later for My Darling.) She is kicking the kids out early after they eat to do just that... ;)

The BB is behind me playing in our office. he's a good boy even though he jacked my jaw a few days ago... ;) (Just a dab of a scab left.)

My Darling is cooking what I call "Cow Rice" It is a Cantonese type sauce with a turmeric type spice. (With beef, potato's, carrots, onion's, in the sauce, served over rice.)

Have a peaceful and enjoyable afternoon...

Good morning from ATX. Currently 77°F and partly cloudy. Today's high expected around 97°F.

Off today, but full plate. Taking a walk sometime after 6 am. Must wash truck, fill tires with air and run through state inspection. Plan on shopping later for Buc-ee's fudge out in Bastrop and maybe Aldi.

Yes' I've got a bunch more pictures. Will post a few later.

Monday, Monday....

Wishing y'all an awesome day.

Icelandic plate Baldur

Two rye bread slices, one with mashed fish & the other with egg & herring. Loki's unique Rye bread ice cream. Delicious.

Held off on sheep-head jelly.

Even at my age I never pass an opportunity to play with the grand kids......I can't get down and wrestle with the younger ones like I did the first few boys......hell, they are bigger than me and will only be 12 this fall.....

Awf, I couldn't even keep up with the 3-year-old. Yes, I could overpower him, but his motor never quits and eventually I had to wave the white flag. That was true even when it came to things like playing Super Mario Road Rally. He was okay losing 15 straight times -- "Let's play again papaw." I finally let him win, which is sort of against my parenting philosophy, so we could quit. And a win by not giving up and outlasting your opponent is legitimate and a valid life lesson I suppose.

Back to work. Always an adjustment. Have a great day folks.

Bob Gibson said he NEVER let his kids win. He HAD TO win. The last MLB homer he gave up was to some so so player whose name I can't recall. He never faced him again till an old timers game years later. First pitch, he nails him with a fast ball.

Good morning everyone

I'm still kicking. I made another trip to the lake for 4 days with BIL's this time. We caught several KY Bass and I finally caught another walleye (21") trolling. My wife liked kicking back and just trolling around to fish during our last trip down so I'm trying to learn a bit more.

I've seen a few bears around here since the last time I mentioned them. We have plenty of hummingbirds and a rabbit hopping down our sidewalk as I type. Sipping on hot coffee on the back patio while it's a cool 72 degrees lol is pretty nice.

Less than 4 months to go til BB season. I'm once again eager for it to get started. Hopefully our FB season will be a big distraction during the wait.

I hope everyone has a great day.

Okay....

I myself am in DC today and as some may know a heat index of 110 degrees is possible/ predicted.

Take note of this extreme temperature. BUT,...

What is historic though is this......

I am the ONLY one in DC at this time today that is comfortably wearing and enjoying having on his long handles....

Yeah there may be some knucklehead wearing them too BUT he "ain't " happy like me!!!!

Have a blessed comfortable day.....

✌️😉

Went fishing on Sunday and ran into a man who works with my wife. He started out with 4 or 5 catches before my first. His were smaller than mine because he was using small lures but, was pulling them in hand over fist. He was also using a different color lure than I was. Plastic worm about 4" long and was watermelon green with a chartreuse tail. Another guy I went fishing with a couple of weeks back was also using the same size and color bait as him. Both dusted me in the number of bass caught, but they were smaller in size. My plastic worms are 7 1/8" long and I use black/red and blue metal flake colors mostly. Has been working for me for the past few years. Although, I did find a plastic swimming frog of maroon top and a chartreuse belly in my tacklebox and starting using it. Got several hits and a couple landed with it so...

However, I went to Academy this morning and picked up some of those smaller worms the same color they were using, and I am going fishing again tomorrow morning to test it out. In my best Paul Harvey impression; "Stand by for News!"

To the Cards fans here, another poster elsewhere brought this to my attention. It looks like the Cards got a really good one.

"The St. Louis Cardinals' selection of JJ Wetherholt at seventh overall is an incredible one. Some media sources, such as Baseball America, MLB.com, and ESPN, considered Wetherholt the number one selection."

Good morning from ATX. Currently 80°F and clear. May hit 100°F again today.

Wife and I went out to eat at Saltgrass yesterday after work. Excellent pork ribs.

Fell asleep early last night. Woke early this AM.

Planning Scotland trip. Flying into Inverness via London Heathrow. Also flying from Inverness Airport to Kirkwall, 25 Aug. Ferry from Kirkwall to Lerwick. Ferry from Lerwick down to Aberdeen.

Happy Hump Day, y'all.

One of my favorites: Hot Dog topped with egg sunny-side up. Delicious. By the way, Icelandic hot dogs contain lamb, pork and beef. Little gal who prepared that tasty dish made it happen fairly quickly. Note hot dog tray.

Good morning folks.

Austin, I envy your travel schedule. Scotland sounds fun. Maybe in a year when I finally retire…

Just another work day for me in steamy Washington DC. On the subway now. As I was getting in the car a worker was getting off carrying a mop. Never a good sign on a train that passes through the homeless zone downtown.

Checking Stubhub for tickets to the Reds game at Nationals park this weekend. Haven’t been to the park in a while, which is odd for a guy who probably averaged 25-30 games live a year between the age of 6 and 50…

Have a good day folks.

I think some teams were scared off by injury problems. I think it was his junior year he missed a lot of games with hamstring problems.

Big-Fishing-Trip.gif

Went fishing this morning and I must say; not this time ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

I did get a bass almost that small but, I got many more at decent size. 1 lunker at close to 5 lbs. Used the new color plastic worms (watermelon with a chartreuse tail) but moreover, a green and yellow swimming frog did the best. Had many strikes with 10 hooked and 8 landed. Was a good morning.

That is ocean fishing.. A heckuv a haul. Congrats!!!

Our next trip will probably be in September unless we get the urge....

Plan on hitting this place:

The types My Darling likes to eat.. They should be running around then. I KNOW how to catch them types, now, if I can...

This guy is not rigged for the best catching.....

Good morning from ATX. Currently 81°F and partly cloudy. Rain chances increasing later this morning. Expect 93°F for today's high.

Local news this morning showing road range incident and shooting. Drivers got out of vehicles. One shot another. Killed him. Yikes! Be careful out there.

Wishing y'all a great day.

Ran into these little buddies around 10 km from Geysir Geothermal area. Very friendly. Once they leave Iceland they may never return. Reason is maintain breed purity. From my understanding, Vikings brought them there around 1,000 years ago from Norway and Denmark.

Good morning folks.

Last day this week downtown. Another hot, muggy one in the east. We had rain last night and it looks like we might today.

I was lamenting with a buddy how sad it is to be at the point that the All Star game doesn’t interest me anymore. For one thing, I can’t look at the ugly-ass uniforms they dreamed up as a marketing gimmick. Does anyone really buy those things? Why? But I also just don’t follow the game closely enough to know the players.

Man, I loved the all-star game as a kid. A chance to see Aaron and Clemente and Bench and Rose and Perez throw down with Reggie and Yastrzemski and the Robinsons…I can name most all the guys selected to the AS game from about 66-70, even the obscure American Leaguers like Don Mincher or Bobby Knoop. I studied the rosters in the paper. Now, maybe I could name half the starters with a gun to my head.

May go to National's park this weekend to see the Reds. That could be fun.

Have a good one folks.
