D-League

Good morning folks.

Long walk behind me this morning, beginning around 5:30. Recorded 15,000-plus steps on my iPhone so far. Single-digit cold, and lots of treacherous black ice.

My wife the RN was full of her jolly tales from the hospital last night. including one of a man about my age who fell on the ice, created a serious bleed inside his brain and they had to cut away a big part of his skull to relieve the swelling. He still may not make it, and if he does his brain may be more scrambled than mine. (These tales are her way to attempt to get me to be safe, go slow, watch my step. They have limited success as I found myself jogging across a long patch of hidden ice this morning and came very close to cracking my skull. I will say I did think of that poor guy as I was falling.)

Cats play today. I hope they can keep some momentum going, and show some progress in tightening up the defense.

Have a good day folks, and be safe on the icy sidewalks and streets.
Taking a lick to the head is never good.........my aunt who was 82 had a storm door blow back into her last year......she died the next day......hemorrhaging in her brain got her..........

That UP image reminds me of the double track line running N/S in IL along the Miss. R.

I used to hunt a lot with my dad in my younger days, but I just don't have the heart for it anymore. I reckon that makes me a hypocrite as I love a good burger as much as anyone. I have never hunted again since my military days. I never told dad why and thinking back on it, it probably bothered him that I never went with him again.

Understood. Well, partly. I've hunted for 50 years, worked in the field for about 40. However, if not for putting meat in the freezer I would be a full-time watcher now. I never would have dreamed I could take it or leave it.

They're not bad. Tastes like pork. Many of my volunteer hunter ed instructors have eaten my BBQ pulled possum and believe I was just messing with them. lol

HA, made me go find the picture..taken in Sawnee TN. (I am the tall one with my two first cousins (The short one to my left Virgil (He's gone. Died at I think 28 from drugs.) and the small one.

That Possum I was holding found my innards...

The only one I ever killed/ shot. Except maybe driving.

Good morning folks.

Still cold as hell in the east.

I enjoyed the hell out of the Cats game. Yes, it got sloppy after being ahead by 28 at the under eight. Yeah, the Cats need to work harder on defense. And it was a weird night for reverse home cooking by the refs —35 fouls on Kentucky, half that many on Georgia.

But none of it means as much to the ceiling of this team as what we saw out of Ivisic. What a player. He really adds a remarkable dimension. There will be some adjustment pains. But I can see Z totally dominating games in March.

And what a fun team to watch.

Good Sunday morning everyone.

Not much sleep for me last night. Awake at 4:03 for good.

I won't be making it out to church today. We got a total of 11" of snow and I've plowed my driveway and the county road 5 times. But, it's still ice and steep. I'll watch online. We haven't been off the hill since last Sunday, but still snug as a bug. It's good to be retired.

Man what a fun game to watch last night. Well, 90% of it anyway. I think Big Z will be a good addition especially on the defensive side. Fun to watch. This entire team has been fun to watch. We've been missing that somewhat the last several years.

Time for another cup of coffee. Enjoy your Sunday D-League

I am the last one who should talk with my balance problems, but long ago I was watching a series on self protection. One's movements should always start from the center of your body. That is where the biggest strongest muscles are located. That should be at least of some help with not falling. An example they used: Move a finger back and forth as quickly as possible. Now start the movement at the wrist. Now the elbow. As you progress toward your center, the finger movements become faster and stronger. Anyways, that is the theory.
Here, this might help.

Last time I went hunting I married her. Haven't been hunting since. ;)

Morning Legionnaires!

28° this morning with 20mph winds. Today's high to be in the mid 30's with higher winds.

Good game for first 3/4's of it. Z looking good and will definitely help. Got back home 2 minutes before game time. Went straight to the bedroom and turned on the TV. MIL was watching Houston play Baltimore in the living room so; I watched the game in my bedroom. Wife followed me to the bedroom saying "What, you not going to even say hi honey I'm home?" Me, "Nope, game's on, you can see it's me". 😁 She just game me a smirk.

Was testing 14 karate students yesterday from 10:00am to 4:00pm. Went old school with the test to see how much they wanted it. During the fight portion we had a couple of bloody noses, a black eye or two, some bruised shins and legs, and some bloody knuckles. Bloody knuckles came from the breaking of boards from a 17-year-old girl. Bloodied on her first break but, to her credit she continued on with the rest of her breaks. One Black belt (61 years old) was breaking concrete blocks. Up to 4 at a time with certain breaks (elbow and heel palm strikes). The fighting included 2 on 1, 3 on 1, 4 on 1, and 5 on 1 and this was back-to-back fighting for one person at 1 minute per group they had to fight. That's where we find out where their hearts are. Gasping for air by the time they were fighting 4 on 1.

Well, getting long winded here so, I will end it with saying it was a full day yesterday.

Have relaxing day folks and God Bless.

I argued with the refs also. UK got called for three "T"s two on Z and one on Cal.

The only T's that I have seen this year in the SEC are on UK. Last week Alabama's coach Nate Oats pushes a player on the opposing team and gets nothing called on him even though the SEC office called him out.

Below are the SEC games and the fouls. UK at home is in another league when it comes to having fouls called on them.

Good morning folks. Hope everyone enjoyed Sunday.

The football games were a mixed bag for me. I was glad to see the Lions advance. But was pulling hard for the Bills and...Wide Right Again? Damn, that has to be torture for Bills fans who have hung in there for decades and seemed to be on the cusp...

I wonder if some on here -- Austin, Warrior -- didn't immediately think back to 33 years ago this week, and the original wide right. In my case, I was up on the border between Saudi and Iraq in the 1st ID (Mech) sector with a Bradley platoon - 1st Squadron, 4th Cavalry - scouting any movement in the Iraqi lines a few klicks north ahead of the ground war that was coming. No one was thinking about football, but I do clearly remember some guy getting off the radio and saying to the Bradley crew I was hanging with, "Super Bowl was last night. Giants won. Bills kicker missed a last second field goal." Wide Right.

Back to work this morning on a less interesting job. I hope the week is shaping up well for you folks.

Good morning from Orlando. Currently 48°F and clear. Chilly. Today's high = 56°F. Slept in this morning. Watching MeTV with cousins.

More visiting in store later on.

33 years ago yesterday: Super Bowl XXV. Scott Norwood. If I remember correctly, I worked radio watch at TOC that night.

Monday, Monday...

Wishing y'all a good one.

Yeah, and what's worse for them more than anything is losing 4 straight. Minnesota has lost 4 but not successive. That is the most disheartening thing of all for them.

Good morning folks. Cold, icy and dark in the east. No melting of the snow yet.

SEC road game for the Cats. Those are never easy. Off the top of my head, 1997, 2010 and 2014 lost down there —I’m sure a lot of others. I hope this team keeps up some momentum.

Heading into DC on the subway. A line of creamy orange sky to the east - my left. Another day. Hope it’s a good one for the D-League.

Bury the losses in memory.... MAN I hope this team can give up something to cause the BBN to unite more. (I know it will never happen fully as there are too many trolls.) Sure would like to see the trolls shorts get tight...
