D-League

I don't get a good feeling about this UK team. We are starting out with the lower end of the SEC and so far it ain't looking good. A 13 point win should be good but not the way the Cats got it. A good first half and then just blew it.

The opposing teams are hitting the threes way, way too easily against us. One game and you could say it is luck but every one of them are doing it which means it is UK's defense. Edwards ain't shown well yet and Thiero's "muscle soreness" is quite a strange thing.

I hope that I am wrong.

This team tends to stand around rather than blocking off and aggressively rebounding. They give up too many offensive rebounds to the other team

Good morning from ATX. Currently 39°F and clear. Today's high expected around 70°F. Looking at a warmer morning walk Another cold front moving in.

- Enjoyed the W last night. Bulldogs came out aggressively after half-time; Cats responded. Next up: UGA at Rupp. If all goes according to schedule, my flight should arrive approximately an hour before tip-off.

- Packing tonight. Leave Saturday ~ 7 am via bus to airport.

Wishing all an awesome day.

Morning Legionnaires!

30° this morning with moderate winds. The high for the day in the mid 50 expected.

Normal workout this morning and walking the monster after. This afternoon back to playing Mr. Miyagi as my one student took some time off for the holidays and personal problems. Have not helped out at the class my old instructor teaches since the end of November either. Will start helping him again next week.

Cats looked good in spurts defensively last night but seem to take some plays off when getting a good lead. You could see that they could play better defensively when they wanted to. I like Ugonna and believe with more playing time he will be good.

@Stevo1951 Good to have you back.

@AustinTXCat Safe journeys and be careful out there.

God Bless.

Good morning folks.

Still single-digits cold in the east.

Good win by the Cats last night. I saw some positive indicators on defense. Offense still very potent. Ugo is getting into playing shape and will contribute from here on out if he stays healthy.

There are still issues. But all the reliable national metrics suggest MSU is a decent, veteran team. I try to keep this in mind for now: Kentucky’s line-up is dominated by guys two months into college hoops careers, and we’re in an era of the transfer portal, NIL and sixth-year players where even average SEC-level teams can poach enough proven players to produce a veteran, talented team.

Rattling into DC via the subway as the sun comes up. Hope you all have a good day.

Good, afternoon, D! Got to see the second half last after we got home from church, the Cats can score, but they better learn how to get a rebound! What a slurp fest on the SEC channel for Calipari!! Talking about how many great players he has brought to Kentucky, my first thought is if has done that why not more titles!!!! I personally don't like him, Kentucky was Kentucky before he got here and Kentucky will be Kentucky when he's gone!!! I like Buzz Williams, anyone else got someone. I like Reed, smart player, my all time favorite team is Rupp's Runts and any team Dan Issel was on!! We might have some freezing rain later, I hope not!!

Morning Legionnaires!

17° this morning with 20-30mph and some winds gusting up to 50mph. Today's high to be around 30° and windy. May wait until late afternoon to walk the monster. Those winds cut through most of my bundling and with it being 17° this morning that makes it Subzero like with the wind chill. I might just have to go all Ben Richards on it. Heh, heh, heh.

TGIF for you grinders so, take easy and glide on to the weekend.

To all, God Bless.

A couple of my people went into the office. I am ashamed. It used to be, I'd have been first and not long ago, though I was planning on taking off at noon today and there was a two hour delay. I'd have only came in for two hours. I keep telling myself that was the reason but in reality, it is cold and snowy and I had no inclination to go out into that weather if I didn't have to... yeah, I am growing older... (Have to blame it on something... I'm not lazy.)

Decided to go out and walk anyway regardless of the wind. Glad I did, it is trash day and some of the trash cans people had set out were blown over and some of the trash was out. Got most of them put back with their trash and then just laid them down with the lid facing the north as the wind was coming from that direction (wind kept lid on). Wind was blowing hard enough to knock the lighter ones over so those where the ones knocked down. It made my trip a little longer but, the monster did not care, she was enjoying the show.

Yeah, at our other house in Lorton, I used to laugh at the neighbors on windy days. The wind normally blew the same way and all I did was turn my trash can around to where the wind held the lid down instead of throwing it open and flipped the can over. We lived there since 2017 and I seemed to be the only one who turned his can around. Others chased their cans down the street or across yards. (Only took me once to learn.) Of course, most just left their trash and took their cans. (That part always bothered me as I picked up whatever I came across.)

Getting ready to go out and shovel some snow and clean off My Darlings car so I can take her to her appointment. I dread it though I only have a very few feet to shovel...

Hey folks. Busy, busy busy since I got up at 530 to shovel my wife a path to get to work. We ended up with about 7-inches of snow. Working from home and one hassle after another.

Not much else for now. Eating a late lunch and watching the snow continue to fall. Stay warm and dry folks.

Good morning from ATX. Currently 27°F and windy. Expect 43°F for today's high. Looking at a chilly hike to bus stop.

Flight departs at 1:35 pm CT. Hopefully on-time. Pickup rental car around 6 pm. Plan on streaming game on my phone until I can watch at cousins place near downtown Orlando.

Game Day! Go Cats!

Wishing all a winning Saturday.

Good morning folks.

Long walk behind me this morning, beginning around 5:30. Recorded 15,000-plus steps on my iPhone so far. Single-digit cold, and lots of treacherous black ice.

My wife the RN was full of her jolly tales from the hospital last night. including one of a man about my age who fell on the ice, created a serious bleed inside his brain and they had to cut away a big part of his skull to relieve the swelling. He still may not make it, and if he does his brain may be more scrambled than mine. (These tales are her way to attempt to get me to be safe, go slow, watch my step. They have limited success as I found myself jogging across a long patch of hidden ice this morning and came very close to cracking my skull. I will say I did think of that poor guy as I was falling.)

Cats play today. I hope they can keep some momentum going, and show some progress in tightening up the defense.

Have a good day folks, and be safe on the icy sidewalks and streets.

Have safe travels Austin.

Good Morning from cold Smiths Grove. It got down to 1.2°F around sunrise. It is now up to 3.6°. I will be glad when it warms up a bit. Monday it is supposed to get back to "normal".

All of Kentucky's SEC opponents so far are at the bottom of the league. Florida, Texas A&M and Mississippi State only have one win in the SEC and Texas A&M's win was over Kentucky. Georgia has not won an SEC game yet.

I hate to doubt but this team has not given me much hope for great things. I pray that I am wrong.

You all have a good Saturday. Go Cats.

I am the last one who should talk with my balance problems, but long ago I was watching a series on self protection. One's movements should always start from the center of your body. That is where the biggest strongest muscles are located. That should be at least of some help with not falling. An example they used: Move a finger back and forth as quickly as possible. Now start the movement at the wrist. Now the elbow. As you progress toward your center, the finger movements become faster and stronger. Anyways, that is the theory.

Bert, not looking to change your outlook about the Cats. You may be right to be unimpressed.

But one factual change: Georgia is 3-1 in the SEC with the only loss to Tennessee -a game the Bulldogs led late before the Vols pulled an unlikely escape with a late run.

Correct. I screwed that up.

Cal has taught me not to have faith.
