My dogs (Goldendoodles) are almost six years old. I follow a guy trains Malonois. He just had a dog last year that got certified as a Champion. So, the point is it doesn't happen overnight. Most folks quit on their dog before it has learned. I have a female dog that would only ask out once or twice to be let out.....(we are deep sleepers0...after that she would find her a spot........which was usually the stone area in the living room..........the last time (3 1/2 years ago).........after I cleaned up and the area had dried I tossed some kibble in "her" spot........she has never again had a problem........now she licks my nose until I wake up......
When Maddie was alive, I'd take her for long walks daily. If she thought I was late, she would go get a leash, carry it to the door, then stare at me like, "Don't you know what time it is?"

Other than going to my friend's Chinese Restaurant in Radcliffe we don't really eat out much. It is a habit that has carried over from our broke days........when we take our racing pigeons down the road to train them we stop at a Hardee's for their sausage/egg biscuit.....

Restaurant in Radcliff? Your friends name? (Don't have to say the whole name..) I know a few that own restaurants there...

Yeah we are eating out a little more now but like you we rarely if ever ate out back in the day. (The kids were real active in many areas. We chose our focus... We are thankful..)

Edit: My daughter (DIL) took this picture at the game with my son and four of my grandbabies...

I liked the play at the end with a 4 pt lead where Shepard deliberately fouled the three point shooter so we could practice our rebounding after a deliberately missed FT. That skill comes in handy. 🤪

Seems I ought to know him but not well. Let me ponder on that for a while in this older memory of mine. We were in Radcliff well over a month ago visiting my BIL and SIL and My Darlings other sister who was visiting from Korea. The people that introduced me and My Darling we got to see again. He owned a few restaurants and is retired now but I sure got one over on them. (A Korean couple.) We gave them a gift in a card as we were leaving their home and luckily they didn't open it until we were out of their driveway and they called jabbering to My Darling to come back. We planned it but we sure did owe them. I have had a real nice life due to them introducing us... I am truly thankful...

If I think about Charlie and it comes to mind I will email you.

Good morning from ATX. Currently 39°F and partly cloudy. Today's high expected around 60°F.

- almost struck by a red-light runner yesterday morning while crossing Lamar. I'm very attentive in my old age. Driver also nearly hit another vehicle. Thank you, lord.

- paid $1,839 for round-trip flight to Germany. Trip includes cancellation insurance and seat selection. Rental car estimated around $338 for 9 days through Enterprise for an Opel Corsa. Regular gas costs $7.31/gallon or $1.90 per liter. Eff it. I'm gonna enjoy myself. Hopefully I live long enough for a 3-week trip come July.

Game Day! Cats at Gators. Tip-off at 12:30 pm. Go Cats!

Wishing all a winning Saturday.

My friend had another place over in Brandenburg, KY. He sold it a couple of years ago........my buddy told me he was going to semi-retire this year....his words.......he went from working seven days a week to now.......he is off two days every week......working like this is how you get ahead in this country and we have home grown folks who don't understand this concept......

My folks taught me a work ethic. They grew up during the depression. Dad was the oldest boy, so he dropped out of school in the third grade to help with the family farm. I have always worked. 70 to 80 hour weeks were normal. I am semi retired now and a typical week is about 40 hours. I am not wealthy, but I have no debts and own everything I own outright. I fail to understand all these people who want something for nothing.

I have big doggy doors leading to the garage and then out into the back yard, so when they need to do their thing, they have free reign. The doors are big enough for a human to crawl through because the monster is so big. The back yard is fenced with a 6' privacy fence and door leading into the garage from the back yard is not visible unless you are in the back yard concreted area. If someone gets into the back yard three Pyrenees mixes will greet them making enough noise for me to be ready for them. The monster will scare them with size alone.

My folks used to have a Great Pyrenees. Once in awhile he would leave them a dead coyote on their front door steps as a gift. He was a great dog and very strong.

Yes Sir,

When I worked for National companies learning the trade and then my own business I worked 7 days a week for about 20 years. (A day off here and there for functions of this sort and the other but I doubled up when I got back at it.)

We slowly gained a share of the American Dream, still working it but admitted been down to five day work weeks. (Of course I do not count the other side jobs of real estate and computer stuff...) (I don't do much in those areas now but in spurts.)

Oh, I got my new computer working but it's not fully combobulated yet...

It doesn't look it but that's a 32" monitor. I have another right beside it but I cannot show that part of my desk right now as it is trashed. (Still getting this office re-aligned...)

One of our mixes will be 13 years old the 16th of this month. They usually live 10-12 years, but she had been holding on. She has been the best dog we have had since we have been together, and we have had many. My wife wants another like her (pictured below) if we could ever find one. We don't know what else she is mixed with other than Pyrenees. She is short haired, with no tail and built like a tank. She used to be right at 100lbs but now just around 85lbs as the years have taken their toll.

It is hard watching them deteriorate. Maddie got DM when she got old. It is the canine form of Lou Gehrigs Disease where she lost control of her rear legs, then bowels. We took her to Florida to the worlds leading researcher in DM, but he could do nothing for her. Jan made her a canine wheelchair for her rear legs, but she hated it. Eventually she just gave up and we had to put her down.

Good morning from ATX. Currently 38°F with a light wind. We may reach 62°F for our high.

- Loved W by our Cats yesterday. Untimely foul by Reed Sheppard there at the end yesterday. Nearly blew it. Next up: Missouri Tigers visit Rupp on the 9th.

- Chowed down on Zaxby's before the game. First time in a while. Delicious.

- Check out some NFL football later today.

Wishing all a peaceful, enjoyable Sunday.

Good morning everyone

Well we learned that we can go to a tough place on the road and not play our best or shoot our best and still WIN! I'll take it.

Your all's dog talk has me missing mine. I use to raise chocolate labs and the best things (simple) I learned about training is to take them from the litter at 49 days. Not sooner or later. Then the next step is to spend all the time you can petting, talking, teaching them their name, From day one go on plenty of walks and let the pup keep up. When it falls behind let it catch up and pet, etc. Make it more difficult as time goes on. After that the rest becomes easy.

My last lab died almost 12 years ago. We now have a bird. lol Most spoiled critter I've ever been around. Mostly our fault though.

I hope everyone has a great Sunday.

Good morning all,

Just brought My Darling to choir practice. Sitting in the car drinking coffee.

Watch going forward. The Cats grew up a lot yesterday. Their are several Killers in this group of players. They are gaining experience and confidence. This is the players doing it... Looking forward to the next game to observe...

Busy day today...

May God Bless your activities...

Good morning folks. What a satisfying win for the Cats yesterday. Promising in so many ways. There will still be ups and downs this season, but with these four guards and Bradshaw and Mitchell, Cats are really a potentially tough team for March -- and April.

Amazing that Kentucky has now won six straight in the O-Dome and nine of ten over FLorida.

As I've mentioned here before, my first wife was a hoops cheerleader for Florida and my daughter is also a Gator grad, who worked in the basketball office while in school -- and yesterday was her birthday. The ex is of course way out of the picture but my daughter is not beyond letting me know if the Cats lose to the Gators. So the game always holds a little extra for me.

Had a great night out last night -- just a spontaneous recharging of our batteries after the holidays. We tried a new local steakhouse back in September on my birthday, and it has become my go-to spot. I like a New York Strip rather than a Ribeye or Porterhouse or T-Bone, and this place is now three-for-three in delivering exactly what I'd consider a perfect steak.

Hope Sunday is going well for everyone.

That is awful close to what I understand. If I recall from my reading, a dog develops many of its brain cells between the ages of 8 weeks and 12 weeks. The more different experiences [sights-smells-sounds-etc] you can give him during that time period, the smarter the dog.

I have had some bad experiences at Florida. I sat with C. M. Newton during one game and when we went to get a coke at half time we were harassed to the point that we went back to our seat without our drink. C. M. was the coach at Alabama at the time. I doubt that we would have been physically hurt but we were called every name in the book. It tainted my view of Florida ever since.

New York strip is my steak of choice. 10 years ago it was a Ribeye. No more.

I would like to have a doggy door but......I wouldn't be able to keep the two legged varmints out of my house.........I wouldn't do very well in a cage.......

I started my oldest dog like you described except he was a little older............within a short time we were walking 4-5 miles around the hood every day....he is smart as a tack......nine weeks later I got the female and everything went downhill from there......I bought her sight unseen.........the lady said that the puppy had be socialized with her five daughters.........the reality was she had been traumatized by the five little girls......if given the opportunity she would bite a female child.......it took her a year to get used to my grand daughters.......she is trainable but just barely........I can work with her for 5-10 minutes and they she quits......melts is more like it........she is a pill but......she is my pill as the saying goes......

That early time in a pup is sometimes called "imprinting". It is important that the things they experience be pleasant because the wrong things can imprint fear. We had a boxer we adopted at about a year old. He was scared to death of men. He got used to me and a couple of others, but never became comfortable around most men.

I'm really a believer on the 49 day (7 weeks) deal. Feeding with their siblings they have yet to become timid or the bully at that time. Any later and their personality is already in motion and set for life. Any earlier and they're not ready.

Just had a fight between my pit mix named Kia (daughter's dog) and the monster (Anatolia). Anatolia is easy going and generally just blows it off when the other dogs growl and snip at her. She just generally turns her head as if to say leave me be, I don't want to fight. However, the last two days there has been a brown mutt coming around outside the fence and fence fighting with my dogs. It caused a small fight between my dogs yesterday (Kia who started it and the smallest Pyrenees mix, Koda) which was short lived. Kia has in the past tried to impose her will on the others, but we generally nip it in the bud. This time she went too far and attacked the monster and Anatolia decided she had enough and fought back. I saw the fight start from my back window and by the time I got out to them Anatolia had her pinned, mouth open with teeth flaring, but had stopped as if to say, "don't move again". I stopped them and found that Kia has a cut right ear but nothing serious.

Kia is a rescue dog we got from a Pet Smart store who is a real pain. She has bitten me twice in the past (protecting my daughter while we were playing around) and that is the reason she is still here. It is my daughter's dog, and she protects her so...

I hate dog fights. When we got the boxer I spoke of earlier, we took the other dogs with us to see how well they would get along. We intended on only adopting Billy, but it was a mother and pup, so we got both. When we got in the caR to leave, the !ab decided to attack Billy. I broke it up, but the lab bit me on the arm in the process. Luckily I had a thick coat on so it didn't break skin. I think that is why Billy took to me though despite being scared of men. No question though, he was Jans dog, just like a shadow.

Good morning from ATX. Present temperature = 54°F and cloudy. Winds started kicking up. Raining out with high wind advisory. Some speeds already hitting 30 MPH. Today's high may reach 66°F.

Saucisse de Chevreuil. Made with cranberries + wine. Just super delicious. Paired well with Tuscany veggies.

That looks like some good eating there.

Good food for sure...

Good morning all,

Heading inside a little early but required.

Enjoy your days...

Good morning folks.

Clear and cool in the east.

Mondays suck and this one is off to a typical start as what had been mildish covid symptoms flared in the night and had me up with stomach distress. I've been keeping a pleasant demeaanor through a run of Monday meetings I have to either lead or present in, but I'm running out of the steam it takes not to be cranky.

Congrats to all you retirees. Monday is always the day I long for that the most.
