D-League

Good morning folks.

Checking in before heading to work. Looks like we’re back to clear days of the east after a run of rain days.

The Reds blow a golden chance. 1.5 back now with four to go. All the potential Wild Card teams are choking so while it’s highly unlikely they can make up that ground with four to go, I guess a 4 game streak to close would give them a chance. But they haven’t had one of those since early July I don’t think. One final note on baseball today: I watch the highlights show in the morning on the MLB network. The number of calls the umps get wrong —EVEN WITH REPLAY and the ability to overturn —is amazing. I guess it’s just a tough job, but when you can make it right, make it right.

Heading for work. Have a good day folks.

Send all you can Storm....

Did you ever think of setting up a Youtube channel and streaming? Many make tons of dough doing that type of passive income ingenuity. Seems you have a netural environment for it and once you set it up all you do is keep it up... (Just thinking in type...) (I have a couple people I know make a decent chunk doing that type of passive income exploitation to where it is worth doing it...)
Nah. I'm happily retired and don't want to get into other hobbies/projects. Before all the hunting shows with women hunters several people tried to get my wife and I to do something similar. She has been a hunter for nearly 50 years, looks great, and did everything herself. But, neither of us wanted to be in front of a camera.

Question for you....when would be the best time of the year to vacation in San Antonio (and go see the Hagee's)?

Good morning from ATX. Currently 74°F and clear. Today's high estimated around 95°F.

Bad news out of Germany. My ex is in a coma and lies in intensive care due to complications from pneumonia sepsis. She's only 59. She's also been battling breast cancer. Praying for her.

Otherwise, happy to be here. Wishing y'all another great day.

Prayers for your wife. It took a bit to realize reading this, but I turn 59 today. Also, reminds me that I've been wondering how old you are if you don't mind me asking.

If you are not inclined to extreme heat, I'd just check the weather forecast for SA. I always made sure the tires were as near new as possible. In Georgia they fry eggs on the sidewalk, in SA they fry steak. Just another heat.

As far as Cornerstone Church may want to plan via their website. They keep it up as far as events and such. I watch as I am able...

I enjoyed their special events like services to honor Israel and other type events. I didn't look for praise events but I am sure they have them noted. Just other sphere in worship events.

This one seems interesting...

Good morning all,

In to it this day, took off to work around the house. Installed a ceiling fan yesterday in the guest bedroom. (Have three more (Mine in my office now.) Clean up and ready the car, change the oil and such...air filter, yadda, yadda, yadda. Then pack the fishing gear... and hit the hay, you all have a great day!

The Phoenix summer heat finally gives way this weekend. Whoopee. Should have nice weather the next eight months now. This heat is hard on car batteries. Had to replace my 3 year old battery this week. Got a new one free. A new battery costs a whopping $180 at Walmart! Back in the day they cost about $25.
I got a new one from NAPA ($200) last week. 3 years is normal with the 120 ° temps we've had this year.

Good morning D-League.

Happy Friday. A work from home day, so I’m taking it easy for a few minutes before starting things rolling.

It should be an excellent football weekend. The Cats will find out if they are legit or pretenders. I always look forward to the Florida game as my oldest daughter is a Gator Grad -her mother, my ex, was a Gator hoops cheerleader in the 1970s and so our daughter is into sports. She was a student intern in the AD’s office, writing press releases on the teams. Go Cats! Beat Gators!

Hope to get some hiking in this weekend. From now to early November should be prime weather for that.

Not much else to report yet, so have a good day.

Morning Legionnaires!

70° this morning with light winds and a high in the mid 90's expected.

Will not be on here tomorrow for the UK-UF football game because we will be testing several students for their next belt level. 2 will be testing for their black belts so, that takes a while. Starting at 0900 and ending hopefully before 1500-1600 tomorrow afternoon as we also have a Gala to attend at Cameron University tomorrow night starting at 1700.

The Gala is sponsored by a group in Oklahoma called the Red Chord which is doing a benefit to raise money against child sex trafficking. Seats start at $30.00 a plate and whatever donations we wish to make while there. Silent auctions and door prizes as well. Two of our students (Just started training in their 60's) owns a local coffee shop and have paid for two tables of 8 seats each for our karate group and their friends. It is semi formal so; I will be wearing slacks and my semi formal UK long sleeve shirt with a UK Wildcat tie. I will be representing hopefully a victory.

Got a busy day today so, you Friday grinders take solace that I will be grunting it out just like you guys today. TGIF! and God Bless.

Good morning Cat fans!

It’s my birthday today, and I’d love a nice win over the Gators to celebrate.

How old? Here’s a hint: Those alive on my birthday would have heard on the radio the shocking news that rising young star James Dean was killed in a car crash in California…Weirdly, my father was working a pipeline job in Central Indiana and I was born near to where Dean grew up.

Reds pummel Cards but are almost out of time. They have caught the Cubs. But likely need to go 2-0 while the Marlins go 0-2 this weekend. Even then I think the Marlins would have to lose a rain delayed game they are leading on Monday.

Let’s go Cats. Skin the Gators.

I think the Cards are trying to lose without outright throwing games. They want a better chance at a high draft pick. People who could have played, but have had nagging injuries were put on the injured list to heal for next year. This gives them a chance to evaluate some bad players and increases their chances to lose. This has been going on for a month or so and got worse over the last two weeks.

As Reds fans know too well, the end of a season where the team has been out of the playoffs for months can get pretty ragged. I see they did get Wainwright a pinch hit appearance so he could say farewell to the fans.

Turns out there is one more way the Reds can make the playoffs —win two and see the D-Backs lose two to the Astros who are fighting for the post-season. So, with October just hours away, hope lives.

I read a Cards board regularly, but don't post there. They have crucified him all year, including being selfish for the at bat last night. He hit the ball very hard, but right at the second baseman. ESPN had him on the sixty day injured list, so I'm not sure how he got to bat.

Bc, I was thoroughly impressed with the 38K+ attendance last night for a team that's been out of contention for a good while at the end of the season. Don't know if they had any giveaways or promotions, but fantastic. St L has always been a great bb town.

Anyone have a spare LG Fridge Compressor sitting around they are not using? Let me know. Thanks.
Well, since no one supplied one free, we're out $630 for parts & service, but now working again. Ice is good. Only 7-1/2 years old, but guess that's how quality goes now. Perhaps due to all the efficiency requirements these days. We paid like $1800-1900 & closest replacement now appears to be around $2300. maybe we'll get another 7-1/2. Our Kenmore backup fridge from 2005 in garage is still going strong.

While I agree fan support is great, announced seating can be deceiving. There has often been a difference in announced sales and butts in the seats this year. A lot about that has been discussed on Card boards. Apparently there are a lot of season tickets sold to businesses and especially this year, they are not always used. In years past, one of my suppliers used to give me box seat tickets a couple of times a year. Also they are saying the team does last minute sales of four or five thousand tickets to places like stubhub at what I guess are very cheap prices and all of those may not be resold. That seems to be the consensus on the board I read.
