D-League

I don't want to rain on any Kentucky football parade, but UK sucked.

Our OL failed all night. The defense stunk most of the night.

If this team goes to Ole Miss there is no telling how far UK will drop in the ratings.
Whenever a back-up QB starts or takes over I always say "uh oh". For some reason they play like Heisman candidates against UK. Not saying that happened tonight but still...

Good morning folks.

Kentucky won without looking great, which raises concerns as the schedule gets tougher now.

Lots of interesting results yesterday that suggest there is quite a bit of parity this year. Georgia struggled to put away Kent State. Oklahoma lost. Tennessee almost handed that game back to Florida. Southern Cal barely pulled it out. Texas lost after pushing Alabama. Clemson was taken to OT. Michigan barely beat a terrible Maryland team. Top ten Arkansas gave a game away. And so on.

Cats have to get better on the offensive line. But they head into the second quarter of the season with all their goals still attainable. And based on everyone else’s play maybe the miracle we figured it’d take for the Cats to accomplish something really historic isn’t as impossible as we thought. Might as well look at it that way on this Sunday morning.

Good morning from ATX. Currently 72°F and clear. Today's high expected around 98°F. Front moving in bringing no rain, but cooler temperatures. May trade my shorts for long pants next week.

Yeah, Cats struggled at times yesterday. Lots of improvement needed, especially by O-line. Levis took 5 sacks. Glad we won. Let's go beat Ole Miss.

Chores and grocery shopping on agenda for today.

Wishing happiness and health for all our fellow D-League members.

At 4-0 it's tough to complain. No harm done so far. The meat of the schedule begins Saturday. I'll agree with another poster on the football forum. It's bad timing to have a great QB, RB and receiving team while backed-up with a mediocre o-line. C-Rod will certainly help but lanes have to be opened. UK has done a poor job doing this so far.

Guten tag (I just exhausted my German language knowledge) Amigo's (I just exhausted my Spanish language knowledge). It is 69.6°F and cloudy. This morning we had bright sunshine and now it looks as if it could pour any minute. We are supposed to top out at 80°. Yesterday we got .05" and I was praying for an inch. My yard was praying harder then me!

I missed out on the first part of the game because the Indiana game ran over and they (ESPN) did not put it on the ESPN News channel until the end of the 1 St Qtr., so Monday night at 9:00 I will be recording the 1st Qtr. I hate it when I can edit and burn the game the next day, because I then re-watch them to make sure I edited it correctly. Now it will be Tuesday instead of Sunday. Old men like to gripe.

I am stuck in my ways. I love Tex Mex food; however, I am hung up on Quesadilla's. I skip all the other good stuff because I prefer Quesadilla. Stupid but that is me. So I may just take a mile trip up the street this afternoon and get me a quesadilla. Sherry will be smart and order some other stuff, she is not as stuck in the mud as me.

You all have a great Sunday.

Just rattling your chains Md. We are closing in on Halloween after all.

You do make a good point too. I was thinking similarly this morning after reading about all of the tough games. You could also throw Alabama's performance last week in with that list.

If you see this guy in the Tampa Airport or Clearwater/ St Pete Airport let me know. I will know we are in deep trouble. I love it when he gets out on the beach and acts like he is going to be blown away to Texas or Mexico.

Well the old boy has been assigned Clearwater Beach. Not sure if he has arrived yet.

I received word this evening Clearwater evacuating will begin no later than Tuesday. I guess we can expect the same orders. I live in Zone A RED mandatory.

Good morning from ATX. Currently 77°F and partly cloudy. Today's high expected around 92°F. Mild cold front inbound.

It appears this month may go down as the driest September on record for Central Texas. Yikes!

Must take pup to vet later this morning for blood test.

Monday, Monday...

Wishing happiness and health for all our fellow D-League members.

Good Monday Morning

Our football Cats are 4-0.

It is a pleasant 71° down here and should reach a high of 86° this afternoon. We have our usual chance of afternoon showers as we keep our eye on the disturbance in the Gulf. Word last night was to expect a mandatory evacuation order in my Zone. Zone A. I live a few miles from the coast but all that separates us is marsh land and swamps. Thankfully this soaks up most of the rain. We may have in excess of 20 inches of rain in one dump.

Where I am located has always been a safe area for hurricanes. I think the last one to hit the area was over 100 years ago. The storm has to make a very sharp turn for the eye of the storm to hit us but we do get high winds and rains that spin off. So I need to batten down the hatches and secure objects that will go flying through the air. We have plenty of food on hand so that is not a concern. Vehicles are gassed up if needed but I do not expect to go anywhere. I might send the wife over to Ocala if she wants to go but she usually stays here with me. I don't evacuate.

I have unlocked my gun safe and ammo is ready in the event some wild animals come calling after the storm blows past. So all is well and now I just need to tie a few loose ends to ready the storm.

I am listening to local radio to keep up with storm news. You get some great calls. One man who recently moved here from out of state called in worried to death. His question. "I have an electric car, what do I do if electricity goes out". The host answers with a question. Do you have a bicycle.

You could tell this was the first rodeo for this new comer.

Morning Legionnaires!

A cool 58° this morning with the high expected at 90° and light winds. Sunshine continues and like @AustinTXCat this month has had no rain with only a day or two of it last month. Lakes and ponds are down a lot but, at least my favorites have not dried up. Will go fishing Wednesday and perhaps Friday this week

Bengals won yesterday so, while I did not get the trifecta (UK winning, Bengals winning, and a UL loss) it was not a bad weekend for sports. As one great singer said or maybe it was food...Two out of Three Ain't Bad.

Good morning D-League. Clear, cool and beautiful in the east.

I hope Florida is spared the worst of any storms.

Nice weekend. The football results broke my way and I got some time hiking in the Blue Ridge Mountains up on the Appalachian Trail.

I hope Monday comes and goes without any headaches for all you folks.

All we can do is prepare. I have been through a bunch of them. These metal shutters are bolted on and it will take a bomb to get through them. My house has hurricane straps to tie down the roof and it is design to take a monster storm with only a loss of shingles. The walls are concrete with steel rebar and poured concrete lintels with steel rebar. It should survive a Cat 5 with only cosmetic damage. No structural.

That's impressive preparation Sawnee. I hope you are not tested, and get the edge of the storm at worse.

I was pre-positioned in Miami to report on Hurricane Andrew in 1992, and while the city was just sideswiped I hustled down to Homestead the morning after and saw devastation that I've never forgotten. May nothing like that happen again any time soon.

That storm woke up South Florida and caused drastic changes in building codes. No more throwing up a wooden house on concrete blocks. I had to work the damages and stayed down there 3 months. Some of the worst hurricane damage I have witnessed and I worked or was in every hurricane in America and the Caribbean from about 1980 to 2010.

Katrina was mostly water damage and flooding but Andrew was wind. Hurricane Hugo that hit the Virgin Islands in 1989 was also a bad one. Every structure on St Croix had some damage and over half were total losses. When I arrived on the island not a single leaf was left on a tree. We did not have food or water or electricity. No beds and we had to sleep on concrete with pads for a mattress. We even had to send a plane to Puerto Rico for supplies and food. It was weird.
