But why?

"Play Rocky Top" is a running joke with the older musicians in the Bracken, Mason, Fleming County area.... Well, they (I do not really consider myself a musician) were young when it started. But YEP!
There are quite a few songs in what I call the 4000 Club. Once you hear or play a song 4000 times, it loses its luster.
- Wipe Out
- Old Time Rock and Roll
- MUSTANG FREAKING SALLY!!!!!!!!
- Rocky Top
- Sweet Home
- Friends in Low Places
Much like the road, the list goes on forever.
This might be counterintuitive, but being a teenage drummer and hearing "Play Wipeout for me," EVERY SET OF EVERY GIG gets tiresome. But why?

Especially when it is a basic, cheesy song.
Did I mention I'm not too fond of that song? lol
I purposefully left that SOB off. If I never hear another drunk in a bar yell that title again, it will be too soon.At least it wasn't freeeeeeebird
It certainly has changed over the years. I remember as a boy I would visit grandpa in Kentucky and that was the only way to get to town. Grandpa did not own a car. He lived up at the head of Pond Creek and the closest town was Williamson, West Virginia about 15 miles down the creek.
Another way to get to town was only available at 6:00 in the evening. That is when the train, loaded with coal pulled out on its journey, probably to the Ohio River to be loaded on barges. It had to pass through Williamson and if you knew the brakeman he would let you grab a hold of a coal car and hitch a ride. But you had to hitch a ride on a car or pickup back up the creek because no trains were coming that way until early in the morning.
And you ask why would a Pike County boy want to go to Williamson, WV. Because Pike was dry and West Virginia was wet.
How about In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida....or before your time? This might be counterintuitive, but being a teenage drummer and hearing "Play Wipeout for me," EVERY SET OF EVERY GIG gets tiresome.

I know the song. But never played it. I can imagine. How about In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida....or before your time?
Wow. Had totally forgotten that song. Flashbacks to 70s jeans and candle stores... weirdA cheesy song that I did like playing.
Later on, I met a girl who liked it as well. I think her name was Saffron and she was a cousin of Cinnam........ wait a minute. Damn it!
That was the song for every soldier getting out of the Army leaving Germany back in the 70's. Taking that freedom bird back to the USA.I purposefully left that SOB off. If I never hear another drunk in a bar yell that title again, it will be too soon.
Did I tell you all that just a while ago I got a good shot on this bird . . . . .Good Morning D-League.......today is the first race of the season..........liberator over slept.........he didn't turn the birds loose at Columbia, TN....until...........10:15AM.........they would have been to Smith's Grove if the guy hadn't overslept.......Fly baby fly............
I want to meet you awf. You are a fine person with wit.I have hitchhiked from my foster folks place on Lower Hunter's Trace in Louisville to his father's farm on KY 222 where it crosses the WK Parkway........when I would go down I usually had a grocery sack with clothes, my guitar and my .22 single shot rifle.......then when I came home they would put me on the bus in E-town.....I did that several times......and people picked me up..........only thing that would pick me up now........would be the police....
It is a good drum roll. You have to admit that! This might be counterintuitive, but being a teenage drummer and hearing "Play Wipeout for me," EVERY SET OF EVERY GIG gets tiresome.

Don't you say a damned thing about freebird! Those are fighting words. 😁At least it wasn't freeeeeeebird
It takes energy to go out and "bald" a golf course.Got me a roast with taters and carrots going in the instant pot. Spur of the moment decision but I'll stand by it. Overeating should commence in about an hour.
I'll bet you did hate it. It's a song that's hard to get our of your head. Redundant. As a drummer in bar bands through the early eighties let me just say, I HATE that @&$)(;:/- song!!!!!

In the late 50's and early 60's seeing a soldier boy or a sailor hitch hiking along the road was a very very common site. This was before interstate highways and life was a little slower. I had a friend who told everybody he was going to hitch hike from Clearwater, Florida to Seattle, Washington on his 18th birthday and he did.I know someone whose dad hitchhiked home from Fort Benning to Chicago many a time in the late 50s or early 60s. I believe they may have done so from Fort Irwin or somewhere out in California as well, but know they drove back and forth from out there a few times. Can't recall for sure
I met Johnny and June in the Atlanta airport back in the late eighties. We were boarding a plane and he and June came out of the VIP lounge to board last where people wouldn't bug them, I guess. We were rounding up the kids. The littlest was hiding under the benches in the waiting area, so we were also at the end of the line. Johnny was friendly, but very quiet. June was a chatter box.Johnny Cash actually had two careers. One in his early life and later as he had aged. I became a fan of his in 1956 when he first released I Walk The Line. I saved my money and bought his first record album, released in 1957. I was attracted to his music because I could relate to it. He was singing about my heritage and my people, Southern, dirt farmers and hard times. Times I may not have experienced but my grandparents and parents did and the stories on the front porch were those sung by Johnny Cash and other country singers of the time. But Johnny Cash was different because he could tell a story like none other.

DW has it - about 5-6 years now. She always had ear wax buildup/blocked/some noises. When it hit she couldn't stand up for hours with dizziness till it passed. Probably had dozen episodes over a couple years till it calmed down a lot between testing out various diet changes like no caffeine, low salt, & some others. Also carries meclizine. But still gets minor episodes. That said, she's lost 50% + hearing in right ear (The one thing that normally causes hearing loss in just one ear. ) & has hearing aid. Ear is usually stopped up, and she has sounds/noises to varying degrees that make falling asleep difficult. It's hard for me to appreciate it because I can't see anything happening outside the dizzy spells. And her case is considered mild.I have Meniere's Disease.
I'd hitchhike home from UK a few times every year. Someone with car would ride me out to I-75 entrance ramp. Got out in Covington & called my dad (We had phone booths then.) to pick me up - like 6/7 miles away.We were just talking about Thursday night how you never see hitchhikers anymore. I imagine the state of the nation these days...crazies, etc....has something to do with it.
Or, has most states outlawed it? Don't know.
Definitely no caffeine and low salt, plus trying to drink a good bit of water. Avoiding cigarette smoke and strong odors helps me. I may drink one beer ever few years, but avoiding alcohol helps. Meclizine or motion sickness pills for if I start feeling light headed. Haven't had a bad spell in a long time. I've lost some hearing, especially on the low end of the scale. It's still difficult for me to be in a room with a lot of different sounds from different directions.DW has it - about 5-6 years now. She always had ear wax buildup/blocked/some noises. U brought up points for her too I didn't think of since it's not me. Yes, lots of water & near-zero alcohol. Yes, she has the sounds issue too. My resting heart rate is 37-45. I'm no great trained athlete, it just is. Dad's was low too. I get stares anytime some new measures it.My wife bought her and my daughter fitness bands that monitor steps and heart rates and just put it on my arm to check my resting heart rate and it was 63 beats per minute.
Yours too??!! Thought mine was unique.Something about all the rain and plenty of sunshine just makes my grass grow.
#1 items in garage/yard sales. My wife has bought many (some expensive) exercisers that she used only for a short while before giving up on them because, they are not as easy as they look like on tv.
Yep, getting rid of them when the chance arrives.Yours too??!! Thought mine was unique.

Hers was 79 and my daughters 93. Neither exercise and have not for over a year or so. My wife has bought many (some expensive) exercisers that she used only for a short while before giving up on them because, they are not as easy as they look like on tv. They tried walking about 3 days a week but, most of the time it is either too cold or too hot. She has since basically given up on that idea and is now making her own bread (quick microwavable mix) that is supposed to be Keto in nature. In fact she has been doing quite a few Keto recipes including deserts. So far 1 pretty good the rest bleh. She has tried to get me to eat more of it but, I told her that most of it taste like dung and I would much rather exercise, eat what I want and hope for the best.
