My friend in Stranraer, Scotland sent me this photo. They still say Merry Christmas in Scotland.

Good Saturday Morning D

The weather report for today. We are currently 61° with a slight westerly breeze and will reach 69°. The sun will shine bright, a nice day for football. Tonight is the last UK football game of a strange season. The Cats can win 4 games this year if they show up to play. This will give them 4 SEC wins.

Trust all are well and enjoy this the day the Lord has made. Make it a good one.

I am still seeing shortages of toilet paper some times when me and my wife go shopping. You have to catch the stores when they are just restocking them. Went shopping last week and none where on the shelves (commissary and Sam's) but, we were not shopping for toilet paper it was just an observation. Went to Sam's yesterday and there was some but, the shelves were about 1/4 full.

South Carolina only has 2 defensive starters from the first game still starting, plus they're starting a true freshman at quarterback. Like you said, if the Cats show up, the game is definitely there for the taking.

Remember former KY First Lady Phyllis George? Here's her 1967 Miss Denton High School photo. Lovely back then.

She was quite a lady and put Kentucky in the national spotlight when she was married to John Y Brown, Jr. and he served as governor. I saw an article in a magazine back then that said she was not only the most glamorous First Lady of any state but also the most accomplished. I can't argue with that

Morning Legionnaires!

Wife wants to go Christmas shopping again today. Got all of mine done this week which was simple. I buy for my wife only and send checks with cards to my sons and grandkids. My wife has to buy for her mother and brother who live here and then for sisters who live in other states. Then for me and our daughter. Mine is actually quite simple for her. Loads of dark chocolate and fishing gear (lures mainly)

Bought a backyard wood burning pit yesterday and used it last night to roast marshmallows with my daughter. She normally spends time on her computer with friends playing nightly and even more so on Friday and Saturday nights but, last night she did not. After staying outside with a fire for about an hour or so just talking and eating she came back in with us and watched a movie until she fell asleep next to my wife on the couch. She enjoyed the campfire type atmosphere as did my wife. It was chili out and normally my wife can't stand the cold but the fire did the trick and we stayed outside for a while. Don't do enough of that lately, daughter will be 15 on Tuesday so she has that teenage state of mind right now dealing with friends.

Good Saturday morning to all. Chilly and sunny in Ohio. Hoping the temp gets up to about 40 with the sun and I can do 1 or 2 things outside that I need to get done.

Talked to my bro' yesterday. We normally talk daily, but I hadn't heard from him much at all this week. Knew my SIL was feeling bad and he hadn't sounded good. So I called....she was tested for Covid and it came back positive. He sounded terrible...said he's pretty sure he's got it too but he's not going to bother with the test. Said he's lost a lot of weight during the week 'cause neither one of them have an appetite. Like everyone who's had it he said he's just worn out. Sits in his easy chair and falls asleep in the middle of the day. So, I guess that's maybe the best thing for both of them....plenty of rest.
They're in the age bracket for concern (both 77) but they are both healthy so I'm confident that all will be well. Just probably will take a couple of weeks to get over it and start getting their strength back. They live about 60 miles from us, so I told if he needed anything at all to call. One of their sons lives about 10 miles from them so he'll be there if needed...plus he's a doctor so that's a plus.

I met her when she was with John Y at a UK basketball game. John Y had tickets in Sec 14 and he was pretty vain. He would stand at the entrance at the top of the stairs and not go down till there was a time out. He said he didn't want people to see him struggle going down the stairs with a stiff leg. Anyway, he brought her to a game, right after he got divorced from Jill, who was a whole lot younger than him. He introduced me and I got to talk to her for a few minutes. Had some business dealings with Lincoln, their son. John Y also introduced me to Martha Layne Collins. Did a little bit of consulting for her.

Morning folks. It was a frosty morning in Smiths Grove. When I got up at 7:00 am it was a crisp 30° but has now worked it up to 36.9°F and bright sunshine.

On John Y and Phyllis, I met them and saw them occasionally after the Kentucky Colonels games in Louisville. The season tickets owners would get to have a social after the games. They were very friendly folks.

Glad you got to spend time with your daughter. When she was younger, I always tried to take the time to be involved in my daughter's interests. Now she lives 12 hours away and I don't get to see her so much.

Last night was Friday Night At The Movies in our house and we watched a DVD of an old classic that produced some great holiday music. Easter Parade, I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas to name a couple. It is doubtful you will ever see this movie again on network TV. Marjorie Reynolds was a beautiful and talented woman. She could sing and dance with the best of them. She had to to keep up with Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire.

Worn out? Sitting in an easy chair and falling asleep in the middle of the day? Good Lord, I must have had Covid for about ten years now.

JK. Hope things turn out all right for them.

I can't believe how expensive Levi's have gotten.
I hear ya. I realized a 47% gain on LEVI stock before selling last month.

Levi's is finally manufacturing select jeans styles in the USA again. I remember when Levis - Knoxville facility closed back during the 90s and sent many jobs to Mexico and beyond.

When they became fashionable in San Francisco and Hollywood, prices sky rocketed. We do not see many down here I think the dominant jean may be Wrangler. If you trace the history of Wrangler you see it goes through Middlesboro, KY . In the 1920's the company made work clothes in Jellico, TN and Middlesboro, KY under the brand Big Bend and Blue Bell. In 1947 they went into western wear and became Wrangler. The Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association endorsement helped to strengthen the brand.

The Middlesboro KY Wrangler facility became M. Fine Inc. The facility later contract manufactured not only for various labels, but also their own private label, American Edition, sold through Walmart. I still own a pair in mint condition purchased in 1993, which I'd planned on importing to Germany. KY Department of Commerce provided me some assistance. Problem was used Levis at thrift stores in Germany sold for more than I could sell new American Edition jeans made in USA.

Good stuff. Keeping the theme of Western wear I have a cousin who does marketing for Durango Boots and she spends a lot of her time with the Country music folks, rodeos and TV appearances. Here she is doing some "marketing". She is a huge Wildcat Fan.

I will give her a little advertisement LOL. Durango makes a good boot.

I just received an interesting letter from the UK Basketball office.

We have season tickets and since we decided to waive our tickets this year due to COVID UK does not get the "donation money" they bill each year to extend the privilege to buy tickets. If you do not "donate" you can't buy the tickets. They say the donations to buy tickets amounts to $25 million annually. The cost of athletic scholarships for the players is $18 million paid to the University.

So they sent me a letter in the form of an invoice requesting I send a check for $2,300.00. They were nice to offer a 6 month payment plan. If you doubt UK athletics is nothing but a money machine think again. This letter is going to the shredder.

Just saw where the Gonzaga vs Baylor game was called off. Guess I'll have to find something else to watch now.
I'd suggest not to watch the Texas v. Kansas St game. Had it on and at halftime the Big 12 had a BLM commercial on. My set instantly went dark. Don't know what happened. Could I have accidently hit the OFF button?

We had one when I was young. I remember that you could just pay for an individual channel as well, instead of a group. Like you said, they were a pain, because if it was windy, the dish would lose it's setting, and you would have to manually adjust it with the remote.

Also, after everyone had went to bed, I would search every satellite for a wild feed of a sports game. I got to be a huge Phoenix Suns fan, since about the only games on that late were West coast games.

Another interesting comment in the letter was about COVID. They were whining about losing funds because of reduced capacity in the stadium and arena.

I am tempted to respond and point out closing the Commonwealth is the Governor's doing. Some states are opened up. I bet any thing these Universities are going to be demanding a bail out from the Federal Government for loss of income during this period.

I am about to lose my mind over this but I don't have any mind left to lose.

I would like to go to another game in Rupp when the renovations are done but it will be a one time deal most likely.
