D-League

We had take in from Bob Evans this year. It was a first but we are all strung out half-way sick. Food wasn't bad but just not the same... Oh well, we all are still kicking so far and that's a good thing.
Our best friends down the road got carry out from Bob's. Not their big turkey dinner deal...just their regular turkey dinner off the menu for seniors...turkey, dressing, and mashed potatoes I think. Thought they just wanted to cut down this year. So....she spent the last two days baking 2 or 3 pies and 3 or 4 sides. Go figure? Just throw a turkey in the oven if you're already going to that much trouble.

Hope you're feeling better.

I wish I could acquire a taste for goose. They have some really nice guided hunts over on the Chesapeake not that far from me to hunt Canadian Geese. I’ve always thought it’d be fun but never liked to hunt anything I didn’t intend to eat.
Unfortunately your taste for goose would not have changed at our house. C-minus grade. The last (and first) goose we cooked was excellent. This one, meh. Tried to cook it like a Chinese crispy duck. Beard House recipe. Big time fail. Live and learn.

Good morning D! We had a great Thanksgiving, two of my three youngins were here! My son got to stay for dinner without being called out for a fight or anything so that was great!!!!

I only make my MOM'S dressing once a year and I got it right according to everyone!!! One dish we have at Thanksgiving is a cranberry salad, chopped up cranberries, pecans, crushed pineapples, apples and cherry Jello! Also can double as a dessert!!!!

I pray for the D, everyday and I hope yawl have a great one! I have to put together my THIN BLUE LINE AND THIN RED LINE badges today, plus I have to make another one. I have a friend that I showed him the TBL I made and he said I WANT ONE!!! I see now why GOD gave the talent to work with glass, IT IS REWARDING!!!!!

Good Day After Thanksgiving Morning

We have a bright sunny morning 61º down here with no active alerts in the Gulf. We are headed to 81º by mid afternoon. No rain and the UV index is O.

Working on my third cup of coffee and feeling refreshed after a good night's rest. My daughter made some sausage balls and I warmed up a few for breakfast. They are a good treat. I did not over eat this Thanksgiving. Reading all of the comments about having food brought in instead two days of cooking sounds like a good idea. We might go that route next year.

I trust those with COVID continue to improve and all are well.

Set up daughter's new laptop. She's happy. Rode granddaughter around on great-grandma Reva's walker. Granddaughter is a handful.

Got some deals on craft beer out at Boone's BP. I wonder what happened to the bison across VA 58 from the store?

Drinking a Guinness. Life is good.

Get you a Shawanee picking snoot-full.... Enjoy my brudder...

That sounds just like my mom's recipe that I make for Christmas. Only make it once a year even tho' the Mrs would like to have it monthly. Once in a while it doesn't 'set up' just right and gets a bit runny....but it's still good.

Morning folks, I survived Thanksgiving and look forward to leftovers the next few days. We had ten folks over and the driveway (double wide and relatively long) was full of cars. Governor Andy did not send in his storm troopers, I guess I got off scott free.

The zags beat Kansas. Maybe they should be number 1.

Ate some serious duck in Korea.... Ate it several times then lost my taste for it... Oh well...

BUT, Korea had the BEST toilets in the world...

That was my favorite in our apartment... the dude was super-charged...

Oh, may God guide you in your walk today. May peace find you... God Bless you all...

Oh, also two young people I had the pleasure of knowing in Korea, my wife's nieces children. We hit it off... they were a real joy to be around...

Good Morning D-Legionnaires!

Hope all are feeling well this morning. Food was good yesterday and I saw a thread where we were ask to grade the meal. I gave my wife's meal an A- and told her when she ask what I was doing on the computer. Her mother, brother, and my daughter said I was too harsh. My wife said after that: "Cracker Barrel will be open on Christmas" My daughter said "No mom, it was an A+, dad is just a grumpy old man. Just keep on making it like you do."

On the subject of Duck and Goose I have never eaten any of the two.

You talking about toilets reminded me of something I hadn't thought of in a while. I used to visit some of the pavions (like a night club) in Izmir Turkey many years ago when I was young. Izmir is/was a major city. There was no toilet paper available in the restrooms. Maybe some of the high class places had it, but the places on the water front did not. They told us it was an insult to offer your left hand for a handshake, so I always figured they used their left hand to wipe. I am 100% serious.

Good morning from Shawanee, TN. Currently 43°F and extremely foggy. We're talking 1/4 mile visibility foggy. Expecting 61°F for our high today. Love it.

Hope y'all enjoyed your Thanksgiving. Happy Black Friday.

I slept in. Plan on running over to Middlesboro later this morning.

Wishing happiness and fine health to all our D-League members.

Yeah, the first couple days I arrived in Korea some friends took us to a nice restaurant. I had to go so I walked into this "men's" restroom and found a urinal that suited me. Just as all was going well a young girl I'd say who was anywhere from 16 or so to 20 came walking in and walked right next to me and picked up some trash. Yeah I was rattled a bit at the happening in public.

Come to find out, it was normal...

I still hurt from cutting that stream off. (Sorry if TMI.)

Going to a granddaughter's house today for dinner. Makes it easier on the wife. All she has to take along are the sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole and two dressings.

We were supposed to go there last year but her "fiance" (that seems to be what people who shack up nowadays call one another) got drunk and got mad at her over something and threw the turkey out the window, trashed the house and ended up getting hauled off to jail. I don't know why but the dinner got cancelled. Other than that the day went OK.

Hoping for better results this year but the dinner is still a few hours away so who knows. Should be interesting.

Signed, the Eternal Optimist.

After last year, I believe I would have had the dinner at my house. At least if he got mad and drunk this year, you would still have a turkey.

I spent a lot of time in the Middle East and elsewhere in the Muslim world in the 1990s, some of it outside big cities in places where there were no western business hotels. The “toilet” in typical places was a hole in the floor you’d squat over and a bucket of water, or maybe a narrow hose connected to a water tank to use for cleaning and to police up the edges of the hole. Couldn’t hang with that today - my knees wouldn’t abide it.

I experienced that in Turkey.

Gave your wife an A-. Good lord, man. Have you lost your mind? Brain fart?

I have never eaten duck or goose. Nor their eggs.

Hi Don 😊
So I was talking to my Mom and telling her about the D League. She’s interested and curious so next time I see her gonna get her set up to read and maybe post every now and then. She’s never done the message board thing, but I figure this is a good safe place for her to start
I know you’ll make her welcome
We like Moms here. I had one, still married to one and father to 2. They're precious, always right and NEVER EVER fart. I own that pleasure.

I've warmed up to the new one to the point that I forgot what the old one looked like.

Was only able to watch about half the basketball game last night...I didn't know who anybody was, going to take a few games to figure that out.
11 numbers . . . you got this.

Apparently, Wife and daughter think so, will find out tomorrow (maybe). Have a VA appointment with a psychologist in Norman. First ever (kind of) I had to see an army psychiatrist when I opted for a third year as a Drill Sergeant. They feel you are either crazy or sadistic to want a third year.

Have been putting off a lot of things health related since retiring from the army and my wife has been prodding for years to get health check ups. Now, since I am retired from everything I have decided to use the VA to get appointments going. Have a hearing exam on the 15th of Dec.

Watched them in the desert of Saudi just go away from encampment, squat and do their business without toilet paper. Sand hand sanitizer.

One thing that has really changed for the good under President Trump is the VA Hospitals and doctors care. I have never used the VA but I have two cousins that do and they swear by it. Before Pres Trump they hated to go to the doctor and now it is a pleasure. Big change.
