Just curious. What inside info can you give us about life at UK during Covid? How is your son dealing with it?Rooster, you have a terrific memory. He is, all over central and western Kentucky, and he took a second job as a warehouse hand. We can't get him to stop working to come home for Thanksgiving, but he'll be here over the weekend. He gets more satisfaction out of accomplishing physical work that the more abstract classroom studies. I get that - I worked pipeline jobs in the summers when I was his age and preferred that to college classes.
He carries himself more like a young man and no longer like a boy now, which is good to see.
82 - I suppose every kid is different. My son hates the online, virtual classes. He claims he’s doing okay, but not enjoying that part of it. He was never a big partier, so he still sees his friends and a couple casual girlfriends. He’s into his two jobs and puts most of his energy into that.Just curious. Well, this one ought to be "Toppin" the list of corny post today. 😉A little hack for anyone that has a Kitchen-aid stand mixer. As you know they are heavy and hard to move. Mrs. M had trouble moving hers on the kitchen counter, so I took a piece of poster board, set the mixer on top of the poster board, traced around it, cut it out and set it back on it, she can slide it where ever she wants easily!!!
She ask me a question, I didn't answer, she hollered and said I want Askew again!!!! Sorry D!!!
Happy Thanksgiving BevGood morning D
Happy Thanksgiving 🦃
Doesn’t feel too much like Turkey day though ...
There are many, many great "smart" TV's out there. Sony, LG and Samsung are good/great ones.
Have never tried to cook a goose. Years ago we did a duck for New Years. Ugh! We probably did it wrong 'cause we didn't know what we were doing. Turned out very greasy.Cooking a goose this Turkey Day (Dickensian). It's prepped and in the fridge. Hopefully a success with crispy skin tomorrow.
Every Thanksgiving, and I mean every single one, I think of when I was a kid and teenager, waking up Thanksgiving morning to the smell of a turkey cooking in the oven with all the other fixins' being prepared. Good memories.I woke up to the smell of coffee and bacon frying, another Thanksgiving tradition at our house.
Both duck and goose are fatty and if you don't prick the skin all over the fat has nowhere to go. It can get really greasy if the fat isn't rendered.Have never tried to cook a goose. Sure your goose will be much, much better. Enjoy.
I feel bad for them too but kids adapt. It must be tough not being able to attend basketball/football games. I'm assuming that the few tickets sold go to big donors and not students.82 - I suppose every kid is different. My son hates the online, virtual classes. We walked around campus a couple times during my recent visit. It was like a ghost town - saw very few people during what would have been bustling times. Ate at Joe Bologna’s, it was almost empty at noon on a Friday. All in all, rather grim, but we’re all going through different times. College years should be a great memory, so I feel bad for this generation.
Thanks, 82. I’m grateful my son has his work - he runs a moving crew on weekends that goes all over KY from Lex, and works as a loader in a warehouse on weeknights. That keeps him busy and feeling productive.I feel bad for them too but kids adapt. It must be tough not being able to attend basketball/football games. Congrats on the upcoming grandkid!
Here’s a T-Day piece of embarrassing confession: My wife is in her 50s and I’m in my 60s and neither of us has ever cooked a turkey!
How’s that possible? She grew up in a large family with parents and grandparents who liked to cook. So did I. For more than 25 years, beginning right after we were married, we went to Kentucky for Thanksgiving and we’d arrive to a meal prepared by my mother and sister and aunts.
So, a later in life adventure!
One of my favorites.. . . . and for me Vienna Sausage. Crackers and Vienna sausages are up there with ribeyes. Sorry, but that is a fact.
I'm almost done with the bench work for my latest and final HOn3 train layout. My wife just shakes her head but this is it...the FINAL ONE because we aren't moving again!
