My oldest son is a HUGE Bama f'ball fan. Got it from his Grandpa on his mom's side who is from Bama. Haven't heard from him during the game...know he's watching...but he's got a new 'squeeze' so 'ol Dad probably comes in #2 or #3. Imagine he's happy.
But....he's a HUGE UK b'ball fan. Got it from his Dad.
Just texted him that my bookie called and that huge Vegas $$$ was coming in for a UK comeback win. 😄

The Cats played without nearly 1/2 their starters. Not that it would have mattered but Bama was just toying with the Cats today. 3-5 for the season is about average for UK in SEC play. That may go to 3-7. How important are the non-conference games? During the Stoops years the Cats are 23-41 in SEC play, 16-16 during the Bowl years with only one winning season. Non-conference record is 24-8 with UL being a bulk of the losses. This season really isn't a surprise other than disappointing losses against Ole Miss and Missouri. UT the only bright spot. 2 games left. No way they beat the Gators in Gainesville but I'm hoping for a final win against the Gamecocks in Lexington.

Just got home from playing 18 holes today. Haven’t watched any of the game and sounds like I really didn’t miss anything. Trying to re-learn golf after a 20 year break from it. 60 year olds don’t re-learn very well it seems. But I’m determined. I’ve always played a sport of some kind and am very competitive, so I’m not giving up. Best wishes to all of the D.

I tried to tell you to give the points, but Nooooooooooo.

63-3 is nothing but a tail whipping. That is pathetic. I've heard UK football fans talk lately how Stoops is getting the talent UK needs to compete in the SEC for a shot in the SEC championship.
63-3 means you ain't even on the radar. I knew a 10 game SEC schedule meant UK was done for. They have struggled my whole life to even go .500 in SEC play.
It ain't ever gonna happen for UK in football. Never.

How many times has UK had a winning season in SEC play? Not many. Outside of the Bear Bryant years I could count them on one hand.

Nope, it won't ever happen. Kentucky doesn't produce enough top talent, and when there is a really good kid coming out of HS, he goes and plays elsewhere. We recruit Ohio, Florida, Georgia, and what we get are the kids that OSU, UF, and UGA don't want. You just can't compete for a championship that way.

Good Sunday Morning,

Another beautiful day the Lord has made. Temperature is 68° and scattered clouds and no active alerts. We have a 6% chance of rain and will reach 78° for our high.

This will be a day of rest for me and I will have another cup of coffee. Breakfast was good this morning and is usually my favorite meal of the day. Take care.

If you are down with the COVID may God touch you and deliver you from this plague.

This year is like many years of old. Back when the season was 10 games. You had one (maybe two?) OOC games and then it was all conference games. A lot harder test than the last 25-30 years when we play what...5 easy games?
Everyone would get all pumped up on how good we were, we've turned the corner, recruiting is right up there, etc. Then we start playing SEC teams and we struggle to win a few....but since we win the OOC games we go bowling.
I like the old days better. Better test/indicator of what kind of team you really have.

Oh, and by the way, have a good Sunday everyone from a rainy, wet Ohio.
Another thing I would like to see return along with the above mentioned football season....is Sunday being a dedicated day of the Lord. Remember the old days when everything was closed on Sunday. I like Chic Fil-A's philosophy....if you can't make it in 6 days you won't in 7.

Hobby Lobby also closes on Sunday and they pay their full time workers a minimum wage of $15.00 an hour. As of Oct 1st this year they said they will begin paying them $17.00 an hour soon. Yet they are one of the most maligned stores on the internet because of their stance on abortion (Their medical insurance does not pay for morning after pills or any other contraceptive believed to be abortion related) and the fact that the owners are Christian. By the way, they are still opening stores across the country.

With all of these idiots out there clamouring for the minimum wage to be raised from $7.25 to $15.00 an hour you would think these idiots would praise Hobby Lobby. Afterall all, They could still make more money while paying for their own contraceptives.

Cheap imports is the problem I have with a high minimum wage from a manufacturer's viewpoint. Add in other regulation factors other countries do not have and it's hard to compete. Before Chinese imports there were a lot of jobs in the lighting industry. I make lamp shades. 25 years ago, jobbers flocked to my little town to buy lamps and shades. They went back to their home areas and peddled to mom and pop furniture stores. There were a couple of thousand jobs within 50 miles of me doing what I do. These jobbers had big trucks they had bought to haul their goods. They spent money in motels while here and on the road peddling. They ate in restaurants, bought gas and had their trucks serviced. The jobbers are gone as are most mom and pop furniture stores. They are replaced by chains who buy imports. All those jobs are gone.

Most lamp manufacturers are gone. They used to buy parts here in the USA. The people who make parts are gone. I use cloth that came from the Carolina mills to make a shade (the same cloth used in the clothing industry). Most of the mills are closed now (though a few have opened back up). Those jobs are gone. I buy my wire for shade rings locally, but since most of the steel mills are gone, they buy the wire they use to make my rings from someone who imports from China.

This artificially high minimum wage/cheap import thing has a far greater reach than most people realize.

Currently on Nolin Lake. Broke another record driving between ATX and Smiths Grove.

Great visit with Bert and family. Most awesome blackened fish I've ever enjoyed. As usual, world-famous delicious cole slaw included. Totally wonderful visit.

Damn, Tide run all over our Cats.
Thanks Austin. We enjoy your visits.

Great post.

I watched many industries located on CSX get shipped out because of NAFTA and other stupid trade polices and over regulation.

Attended church, online, but I think we may attend in person, next Sunday. I usually feel pretty safe there, and since we have recovered from the virus, the chances of us getting it again, within 3-4 months is pretty small.
My wife attended in person but I watched on line. The doctor told me to play it safe for a few months because of my recent major surgeries. He said you may not feel it but you immune system may be compromised. Build it back 100% before taking a risk.

Our area has not been hard hit by COVID but I still need to use common sense and caution.

I hope if we do have a Harris / Biden administration they do not turn back the clock on China. We were starting to return manufacturing jobs to America and China was being treated the way they treat us. That may change as well as many other things. China owns certain politicians.

Biden is a globalist just like Obama. The Chinese own Hunter with their $1.5 billion investment in his company. I am scared of Biden. He is frail and soon will give the leads of government over to Harris who scares the shit out of me.

Additionally with him rejoining the Paris Climate Accord he will give away our energy independence and make us subjects of stupidity again, just like Obama. He can do that by executive fiat.
