D-League

I am a hat man and I really like this one. It is a Montana style made of wool. Nice and clean and smooth

Locally our cowboys wear a different style, most are made of light straw. This cowboy is on a ranch a few miles from here. There is just something about a hat and if you are working cattle in the sun it is a must.

I prefer the pinched front too! Still have the retired one I'm wearing in the 1976 image below. I might bring it back. I like the linked straw one too!

Ok SC and the D, Today is not my birthday. The way I wrote that is does seem like that is what I meant, but it wasn't! I'll put myself on ban if The D wants me to! Just didn't want my birthday to come up in June and someone say I thought your birthday was in November!!! Be careful how you look and how you read those words, they can be misleading!!!

LOL You better not self ban. You are much too valuable . Happy birthday when ever it us. And I wish you many, many more.

First, we lost Coach Schlarman, and now Coach Mitchell resigns. What a day for the BBN. :(
I've been hard on Stoops, but I saw the press conference video of him about John Schlarman and he handled it all very well. Hard to imagine losing a friend and colleague any time but especially during the season. Very classy manner the way he responded to all the questions.

Just found $1.12 on the ground during my walk. A young lady passed by the dollar bill because her head was stuck in her phone.

While out walking one morning last week, I noticed the song "Easy Street" from "Walking Dead" blared at a NAPA auto parts store. Apparently, store managers set it to come on because so many bums sleep near the storefront. The song plays all night on endless loop, just like in the show. Some mornings I count 10 homeless people sleeping in front of or near various local businesses. Crazy.

It's a shame that signs like this are needed nowadays:

Good morning from ATX. Current temperature is 68°F and foggy, down to 1/10 mile in some places. Our high today should reach up into the 80s.

Horrible day for BBN yesterday. Very unhappy about Coach Schlarman. He built a great line. What a fitting last game beating UT down in Knoxville. Matthew Mitchell's retirement is a shocker.

Wishing happiness and health to all our fellow D-League members.

I have a similar one in the style of Indiana Jones fedora. Actually three, one darker brown, light brown, and a black one.

Morning D Legionnaires!

A brisk 35° this morning with a high of near 60°. Tomorrow through Saturday next week we will see low to middle 70's so, agreeable weather ahead. However, I like it chili to cold during the holidays so, I hope it turns colder the following week. Got my new generator (8000 running watts) in yesterday and just need to get the oil required for it before cranking it up to ensure it is operational. It is a dual fuel generator so, we have plenty of fuel just in case another mini ice age hits.

Good Friday 13th D-Leaguers

The little storm has brought us cooler weather. We have 64° this morning and our high should reach 76° with plenty of sunshine and a 5% chance of rain. Since my house does not have any heat I like it this way.

I did not realize the Masters were going on until I saw a word about it on Newsmax this morning. This world is upside down.

If you are superstitious today is a day to watch your back. But based on what has happened in 2020 I don't see how this day can be any worse than any other.

If I had to make a list of my all time Top 5 songs, this one would be on the list.

We had a water bucket and dipper in the kitchen in my early years. Had a pump in the back yard. Coal oil lamps and a Warm Morning heater. Got a bath about once a week in a big washtub. Finally got a house with running water and electricity by the time I started school. Had an outhouse up until about junior high.

You just described the lifestyle up Rockhouse Holler. I would watch my grandpa come home from the mines and get a big washtub off of the back porch, put it in the floor of the kitchen, boil some water and and add it to some cold water in the tub along with Tide. He would wash that coal dust off of his lily white skin with TIDE. Tough

I am a chrome dome and cannot stand to see my bald head. I wear a ballcap from the time I get up until I go to bed. Me dad wasn't bald so how did that happen.
My dad was bald as was his dad but his grandpa had a full head of hair. My mother's father had thick hair until the day he died.

I am not bald but my brother is. My son has thick hair. I have no idea how this works. Do you get it from your mothers side or your fathers side. I guess that question has been asked since time began.

Seems I read years ago it has something to do with your mother's genes that you inherit.

Kind of wish dress was like it was years ago. When men dressed well even for casual things and so did women. Now everybody wears nothing but jeans...and of course 'fashion' says the women have to have holes/rips in the knees of theirs. Was a time women always wore a hat as did men.
Remember when we moved in our new house, I was 4th grade, neighbor next door was retired. Had been one of the top guys at GM. Even in retirement he wore a suit everyday and when he was outside, even doing light yard work, he'd have a dress hat on....similar to the posts above, only dress.

  • Good Morning, All.
  • We have 49º in the woods this morning. Pretty day going.
  • 2nd mug of Dark Magic going.
  • Happy to se that storm played out so meekly. #3 has that redo going. Won't see him for about one month.
  • No wildlife sighted yet today. We don't get very many Whitetails on this deck.
  • Prayers for everyone that needs them.
  • As you were.
  • Carry on.

This is not me but this is what I have going, including the beard (quite common).

Just sickening to see guys using their white privilege like that

This is me with my white privilege. I was privileged to be born into a family with love. I would rather be sitting on this "Rattlesnake" watermelon that grandpa grew just for me than sitting in an apartment in New York City with money in the bank. I love the simple things of life.

I don't know, my mother's father was bald at an early age and so was his father. My biological father I heard was not gray well into his 70's. I am 63 with no gray up top but. do have gray in my beard. My wife says that's because I run my mouth a lot more than my brain so, I wore it out.

I'm guessing natural or propane gas. What really is the combination to the dual fuel?

I am not a chrome dome; however, I am close.

;)
I look just like my maternal grandfather. He died at 63 years old and he was a chrome dome. My paternal grandfather died with hair (this picture is when he was 75, just before he died).

I went bald when I was 22 years old. I wear my baldness as a badge of greatness.

In fact the railroad hired a college 22 year old kid with little hair. They knew quite well that a big brain does not give enough room for the hair roots to grow! ;)

Here is a better picture of my chrome dome:
