Pinto beans for me.Bert, I can really see the resemblance. Okay, I have decided to make some chili, and I thought that since it was a slow day, I would take an informal survey. I use light red kidney beans in my chili. How many do not use beans, at all, which is actually correct, or what kind of beans do you use in your chili con carne? Light red kidney beans, dark red kidney beans, pinto beans, great northern beans, or some other bean? Just interested to see what everyone uses, based on what you grew up with, what you prefer, or where you live.
Pinto beans for me.
Very probably too but many of those teeny-boppers only make dough for a short time. Many (More than a few) end up committing suicide. Think peer pressure on Joe Biden type steroids' ... (Sorry all but it fit.)
I believe this requires a Pat Paulsen quote. Okay, listen up D League. Pat Paulsen said, "All the problems we face today can be traced back to an unenlightened immigration policy on the part of the American Indian." Pat was a true visionary.
We love Jerry Clowers. He was genuine and certified. I could listen to him all day and relate to most of what he was saying.AWWWeeeee SHOOT THIS THANG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A memory of a Christian entertainer who brought joy and still brings it to those who listen. Take a couple minutes and walk down memory lane and enjoy.
Oh, good Morning and may God protect and bless you this day!
Saw/met Jerry a few times. His cousin was mayor of the Georgia town I lived in. Anytime he would get close he would stop by to see his cuz.AWWWeeeee SHOOT THIS THANG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good Wednesday morning
We are expecting a pleasant day with a current temperature of 73° and a slight chance of rain, 15%. Our high should reach 85°.
Delta has landed in Mexico but may get back out in the Gulf. So we continue to keep an eye on it. We are in the Waning Gibbou Moon Phase. Trust all have a nice day. If you are feeling under the weather our prayers are with you.

Bought a new fire pit for the back yard. Solo stove bonfire. will be here tomorrow
went to Gatlinburg last weekend. It was like walking into a new world. Older people wearing mask (understandable) some obvious Karen's also wearing mask.
Stores / restaurants had the must wear signs up but not enforced.
Did not see nary a one of BLM, Breonna, other bullshit masks, shirts.
All people seemed to be there for the fresh air and getaway from all this bullshat
That's what you get when the Governor and Mayor of Sevier county are republicans
BTW, the Governor announced full opening of Tennessee the day we left...Good for him!
Carry on fellers...
But in my book the worcestershire sauce would only make it better. I love worcestershire sauce.I messed up on the original post. No worcestershire sauce. I was thinking there was something and thought it was that but it's mustard. Posted our recipe above. The Mrs. puts in about a TBSPN or more of sugar. Depends on how sweet you want. With the tsp you can't really tell the sweetness.
We see several of them on our little island behind the house. Saw one catch a squirrel and pin it to the ground then fly away with the poor soul dangling in the hawk's claws. The hawk family had a nice squirrel dinner that evening. The red shouldered hawk is the most common hawk around here. Hardly a day goes by that I do not see one. We back up to a wildlife preserve so we have plenty of vultures around us.Red-shouldered Hawk - Forest woodland dwelling foraging generalist. Indicates a healthy ecosystem.
Thanks, this is going to made, possibly this weekend at my house. Here's ours. Imagine the one you found is similar...
1 lb. ground beef
1 tsp pepper
1 tsp sugar
2 tsp prepared mustard (not powdered....kind for hot dogs, etc)
6 oz beer (optional...or use water....we use water)
salt to taste
Combine beef, pepper, sugar, mustard, salt in the top of a double-boiler and add liquid. Cover and heat for 1/2
hour, stirring occasionally. The longer it cooks the more flavors blend together. Toward end, uncover to allow some of liquid to boil off. Serve on bun with mustard, dill pickles and chopped onion.
We vary it just a bit. We cook the beef and then drain it off, then add other ingredients and liquid and let simmer/cook. That way it's not as greasy. Sometimes we put the diced onions in to cook with it ... a matter of taste. As beef cooks keep breaking it up like you do for a sloppy joe.
Been there! Remember first time I ever went to Cumming. Before 400...take the old road up from Alpharetta (Rt 9?). Think at that time you would turn left to go into the town of Cumming and Sawnee would be right out in front of you. Believe the old gas station where Junior use to hang out was on the right.Top of Sawnee Mountain looking towards Don's place. Sent to me from a friend in Cumming this morning. He is walking the hills.

I lived on Lake Lanier the Bald Ridge Marina section. It is growing out of control now. Once was a little town with a whole bunch of Junior Samples. My signature "running shine down Highway 9" was taken from that road. It was the moonshine route for shine runners leaving Forsyth and Dawson County headed to Atlanta to drop their load.Been there! My son lived right off Rt 20 just below the mountain for about 4 years.
Wow been receiving calls from everywhere. If you call and are not answered please leave me a message and I 'll get back with you!
Time to have a well played game in all phases. Let's go BLue
Funny you guys mentioning this. I was thinking this morning to do a post to see if anybody else was spending a good chunk of their day deleting and blocking calls. Think I've gotten 8 or 9 today. Don't answer either the cell or the house phone unless it comes up as someone we know. If it's really somebody we know, and the number's not in the system, who wants to talk...they can leave a voicemail.Yeah, everyone that can sell Medicare supplemental insurance is placing robocalls, like crazy. We got one, from California last night at 2:30 am.

May I squeeze in one more recipe from about 100 years ago. My aunt was from Mingo County, WVA and as a young girl she worked at Brunswick Restaurant in Williamson, WVA. The hot dogs in that area are the best I have had in my life and I have been about everywhere a hog dog is served.
Brunswick was destroyed by a flood of the Big Sandy River in the 1970's but my aunt had the recipe and gave it to me before she died. She kept it a secret from the family but her husband, my uncle Charles asked her to give it to me and she did. For the D-League only, here it is:
BRUNSWICK HOT DOG CHILI
Ingredients:
3 lbs ground beef
6 tablespoons of chili powder
One tablespoon of paprika
One half teaspoon of garlic powder
Sixteen ounces of tomato sauce
One half teaspoon of cayenne pepper
¾ table spoon of celery salt
12 whole All spice
Two quarts of water
TO COOK:
Bring water to a boil. Add meat. (Do not fry the meat at any time)
Add remainder of ingredients and cook slowly on simmer for several hours.
DO NOT SALT
MAKING A HOT DOG
Place hot dogs in boiling water and immediately remove from heat and let sit until ready to serve
STEAM THE BUNS (This is very important and for some reason brings out the flavor)
Serve with yellow mustard and chopped onions if desired.
NOW I HAVE MADE MYSELF HUNGRY AND IT IS DINNER TIME. TIME TO EAT
I have been known for something similar .Hmmm. You suspiciously seem to know a lot about running shine down Highway 9.
Thanks for clarifying that. Know what allspice is, but had never seen it as 'whole allspice'. Asked the Mrs and she didn't know, so I was going to Google. I printed off Sawnee's recipe and we'll try it some day. We've got an old recipe for the chili on chili dogs of the old B&K Root Beer stands, which is good, but try Sawnee's next time we make it.Sounds like a good recipe. I will try it. For those who do not have access to whole allspice, 12 whole ones equates to about 1/2 teaspoon of ground allspice. May be as much as 1 teaspoon, depending on the strength of the ground, but it is better to start out with the lesser and more, to taste.
Had a roommate in college who was from the hills of E. Ky. Brought some 'shine' back one time after he went home for the weekend. Asked if I wanted to try it, so ....🥂....💥....🔥🔥🔥🔥Hmmm. You suspiciously seem to know a lot about running shine down Highway 9.
