Sounds like a good recipe. I will try it. For those who do not have access to whole allspice, 12 whole ones equates to about 1/2 teaspoon of ground allspice. May be as much as 1 teaspoon, depending on the strength of the ground, but it is better to start out with the lesser and more, to taste.
Thanks for clarifying that. Know what allspice is, but had never seen it as 'whole allspice'. Asked the Mrs and she didn't know, so I was going to Google. I printed off Sawnee's recipe and we'll try it some day. We've got an old recipe for the chili on chili dogs of the old B&K Root Beer stands, which is good, but try Sawnee's next time we make it.

Had a roommate in college who was from the hills of E. Ky. Brought some 'shine' back one time after he went home for the weekend. Asked if I wanted to try it, so ....🥂....💥....🔥🔥🔥🔥

I drank some as a teen. Whewww. I ran across several moonshine stills running around in the mountains when a kid. Never even occurred to anyone to report them. Didn't hang around though.

Is Otis one of your customers?
Dawsonville, GA has a Moonshine Festival every fall and I had this one ready to go. Only cars that were moonshine runners are allowed in the show and they come from everywhere. I actually had four quarts of shine in the Mason jars and the rest was water. When the folks would come by to look at the car a lot of them, especially the ladies would say that is not real moonshine. So I would open one of the jars and have a little fun with them.

My 1950 Ford Flat head V8 was like the one in the movie Thunder Road, opening scene. In the movie it was black and got a paint job to change it to white when the Feds got on their tail. Then later in the movie they switched to a 1957 Ford which was in the fatal car crash scene. I sold this little 50 a few years ago to a man from New York. He lived in the Hamptons and was a classic car collector. He told me my little Ford was the nicest he had seen and offered me a lot more than what I would have sold it for. I brought it over from Oklahoma after it had a frame up restoration. All original

Good morning from ATX. Currently 64°F and clear. Today's high may hit upper 80s. Possible small bits of precipitation from the hurricane out in the Gulf. Saturday-Sunday could reach upper-90s. Ugh.

Another debate in the books. Early voting begins in Austin next week.

Wishing continued happiness and good health to all our fellow D-League members.

Good morning D League

. Currently 74° and mostly clear and the high should reach 85°. Rain chances are 15%. Drinking a nice good hot cup of black coffee.

Gov. Ron DeSantis' office has ordered all sports teams can run with as many fans as they want. Full capacity, half capacity, whatever. I would imagine the Gator's will remain according to the SEC ruling but you never know. Sometimes they march to a different beat. Being in Phase 3 feels good and gives you a lot of extra freedom.

I trust all have a great day

I had my suspicions, I could tell from his posts, now it's confirmed.....Sawnee is a rayyycisttt.
Just look at the license plate!

Good, I'll start watching again if I'm not insulted with the force feeding of an opinion I do not share nor believe.
I doubt I ever return. I have not watched the NBA in at least 30 years, just no interest. My wife and I are discussing dropping ESPN and the SEC Network. Once your spirit is killed there is nothing there but emptiness. I never dreamed I would feel this way but what has happened since sports became political has made me realize I have nothing in common with that generation.

I realized I can not name one major league baseball player. Once upon a time I knew every team and their stats. We only had 16 teams when I was growing up so it was not that hard but now I can not name a single player. Pretty much the same for other professional sports and sadly the UK basketball team. So I am out, done.

Thankfully we have a very full life without spectator sports.

That's not a Bobcat.

I saw where the NBA announced that next year, they will not have Black Lives Matter on the floors or on the players jerseys. I would say they have had some backlash over it.
I think the damage is done especially for older generations. The NBA has exposed who they are. You can't put the genie back in the bottle. Oh sure they'll get some fans back but I doubt it'll ever be at the same level. Also, younger generations don't seem to have much enthusiasm about sports. Look at the student section at UK football games. Just my observation.

I'm with you Sir. Take that from a guy that played minor league ball for a short time.

We see several of them on our little island behind the house. Saw one catch a squirrel and pin it to the ground then fly away with the poor soul dangling in the hawk's claws. The hawk family had a nice squirrel dinner that evening. The red shouldered hawk is the most common hawk around here. Hardly a day goes by that I do not see one. We back up to a wildlife preserve so we have plenty of vultures around us.

We have a nesting pair in our area. They are wonderful birds.

The NBA (as President Obama said about the Boston Police) 'stupidly' chose to do that.

BLM is a subversive commie outfit. The bastards want another civil war to replace our system of government. One wonders just how stupid those rich dudes are.

Agreed. If they replace our system, they will go after the rich guys money, first. You and I will be down the road.

Good luck. Many years ago I was having troubles. I spent 2 years seeing different specialists with no luck. Finally a neurosurgeon said I had a brain tumor and wanted to operate. I told my GP (who was also a friend) to set me up with someone really good for a second opinion. He sent me to a world class guy in Memphis. The guy laughed at the guy who wanted to do surgery. He told me to go home and see an ENT. He ran tests, but he knew what was wrong right away, Meniere's Disease. Put me on meds and watching diet. Sometimes you just have to see the right guy.
Mr. Carbo, I to have Meniere's disease, I have lost about 10lbs on that part and am watching my caffeine, instead of 4-5 cups of coffee I am down to two. What kinds of meds did he put you on? Thanks

I was thinking about it and I agree about the younger generation's enthusiasm for sports, or I guess I should say the lack of. Our generation used to love to have a bonfire and get ready for the big game, when today's youth would rather play video games. We used to stand in line for hours to get into Memorial Coliseum to watch the Cats, and today, the students don't even use all their allotment of tickets. I think they are much, much poorer for it, too. As for me, I still love the Cats, but I have just about quit watching professional sports, other than golf. I'm tired of spoiled, rich athletes complaining about how hard life is, then getting on social media and giving their opinions about situations where they have no dog in the fight. What's worse is that young people listen to them, form their opinions based upon it, then quote them. Lebron gets on social media and talks about how tough it is for a black man in America, today, when he has no idea. The average black man may have a tough time, but people should listen to him, rather than LeBron, who has been a millionaire since he was a teenager. Give me a break.

Well, Sawnee's recipe comes probably from the late teens or early 20's, and in Mingo Co, WV, or Pike County, Ky, in the early 20's, they probably did not have ground allspice in those rural areas. As the recipe got passed down, I would say that nobody bothered to change it over.

I used to be the same way. When I collected baseball cards, I would read the stats on the back, now I couldn't name a hand full of players.
