D-League

Good morning from ATX. Currently 54°F and clear. Today's high may approach the 89°F. Lovely.

Another round of debates in the books. Things got a little wild last night. Heh.

Happy Hump Day.

Wishing all our fellow D-League members continued happiness and good health.

I always cringe every time he hits him with that board. I have a mistake that I caught in a JW movie. I like to catch mistakes, like a western with a lamp that has an electric cord, etc. Well, this mistake is in McClintock. The next time you watch it, look for this. It is when Patrick Wayne tries to hit his Dad, and then apologizes, because he felt like he was begging for a job. When JW hires him and tells him to get on his Pug and they will follow him to the tent city where his Mother and sister are, they start out with JW on the right side of the wagon, and Chill Wills on the left. They pull out and make a U-turn, and then the camera shows JW and CW have switched positions.
I like to watch for those gaffs also.

I wonder if Rivals ever thinks about where the money comes from.

Are they that damned stupid?

Rivals/Justin think the money is in advertising numbers (It seems) (Total amount of logged in or accounted users.) the premium accounts are just extra (It appears anyway.) That is short-sighted as the HOB or premium subscribers actually spend the dough versus those who are members and rarely if ever spend dough. (Not exactly sure of the numbers dollar-wise any longer per subscribed users or views/clicks but it is short-sighted as it should be known and assumed the payor (HOB premium members) actually are the ones who "spend", where advertising is hoping to get dollars.

I have watched sports or business in general with all this side choosing that is going on BLM versus it seems All lives matter. In business if you choose a side you lose no matter what. I still like the way Michael Jordan has done it. I can't find anywhere that he is a BLM supporter but I may be wrong. He has stayed neutral. Say what you will in this instance but if you as a business choose any side you lose. (Not personally as I chose a side but strictly speaking of being in business.)

I had to work directly with Justin recently. he did what he stated he would do in any event but I had another issue I have NEVER had since I joined this place. I was banned a couple months ago. (You'd laugh out loud if I told you why.)

Anyway after that ended I talked with Justin via message and in part asked him to make me a moderator. He thanked me for deciding to stay but never even acknowledged my request in any form. (Very telling to me.)

To answer your question. YES they are... (It will play out that way too.)

Oh, and Good Morning and all have a blessed great day.

(Took my youngest to the airport this morning...)

  • Happy Hump Day, D-Leagueanites and Lurkers.
  • 49º this morning in Cumming. We are supposed to have sunshine for the next week or so. After two days of rain I am ready for some sun.
  • My son is 53 today. He was born at Central Baptist on Lexington. QB's sister and Mother were present so I made the bad decision to go to a Kentucky Football game. They still tease me about that to this very day. I was young and dumb then.
  • Fingers getting numb.
  • No Whitetails today so far.
  • Heard from FCC yesterday ........ drunk as a skunk ........ again. Poor thing. Hopeless.
  • Didn't watch the "Debate" last night. No need.
  • Bad cold here. It sucks. First one in a long time.
  • Take care, all. Watch your mouth.
  • As you were.
  • Carry on.

It is a myopic way of looking at it, on their part, since advertisers spend their money in a way to reach the most consumers. If Rivals numbers drop, advertisers will take their ad money elsewhere. Doesn't happen immediately, but it finally catches up with you.

I suspect he is the one handing them out.

He may be but I think he stays more hands off in that area. I know exactly who banded me as Justin told me when I asked him. It seems that moderator is to say the least a leftist, to say the worst a jerk. (Others have told me who banned them too in other instances.) I have had run-ins with moderators from time to time but always did things head to head and I respect that. We stayed on good terms good or bad for me by doing things that way. (I will stop.)

But, Justin knows.
Since Justin is the "CEO" of the board he has to know or approve. Cawood86 is a fine person and a valuable contributor. I see no reason to have him banned when a half dozen left wing radicals spew what ever they want without consequence. I placed several on ignore including "Ed" who is a stalker.

I let my Gold Membership run out. I signed up years ago to follow recruiting and get inside information. Well there is no inside information. Listen to Tom Leach and you will get everything you need to know about UK sports. One reason I let my HOB membership expire was the game they play with recruiting. They will throw out 3 or 4 names of high school hotshots and give a 90% chance of their attending UK (a done deal as they say) They push this for months sometime a year or more and have opinion write ups. Done deal. We are in the recruits top 5 or top 3. Write it down UK all the way. Then the recruit announces for another team.

And this is repeated over and over. And so it starts with another 10th or 11th grader who becomes the next "can't miss" and we follow the stories for a couple of years with the same outcome. I don't have time for that.

I know you do not want to name names, but can you give a "like" count on who that mod is?

Yes Sir, I am with you and Ben101er all the way in both regards.

Due to the deal I have in place with Justin my HOB status will run through October 2021. (Rivals messed up the deal I had with Justin through no fault of Justin's but Justin honored what he stated he would do. Even sent me some dough back personally with his check.) That is why he is so puzzling to me. I'd vouch for the guy but darned his allegiances and actions on this site are puzzling to state the least.

(I actually rejoined HOB after being a HOB member for a lot of years before the site changed to the current format to show allegiance to UK and that was the only reason I joined again.) I don't see me doing it again if things trend like they are.

Ole Miss won that contest 26-13. It also marked Nate Northington's SEC debut.

Weren't we all young and dumb at one time.
Lived over in Stone Mtn and the ex-Mrs was pregnant. Still had 5 or 6 weeks to go before due date, so we decided to go to Stn Mtn early Easter morning for the sunrise service. Well, she wakes me up and I'm thinking is to get ready to go. No...her water had broke. So I start running around getting everything to take her downtown to Crawford Long. She starts saying she can't make it...I say sure you can....she says she can't make it...I say....
Finally I concede the point (glad I did). She calls her Mom and Dad (live about 10 minutes away). So there's not much I can do....and it is Sunday morning...so I brew some coffee. Keep checking on her...and with her being kind of scared and not feeling good, etc...she keeps telling me to leave her alone. So I go into the dining room, have coffee and doughnuts and start to read the AJC sports page. About that time in walk the in-laws. Well....you can imagine.
Had to call the paramedics, who get there in about 3 minutes, and about 3 or 4 minutes later she delivers a baby girl.
Never lived it down. Difference in our stories, with my MIL there was NO teasing.

I doubt many of us enter early adulthood until about 25. The auto insurance businesses recognize this fact. Of course most of us think we know everything by age 16. For certain, by 18. But we only recognize how dumb we were much later in life. Fortunately many of our dumb mistakes did not end up catastrophic.

Seems I've read that there's an area of the brain that doesn't fully develop till you're about 30. Has something to do with decision making, etc.
And California wants to lower the voting age to 16. Go figure.

Are they that damned stupid?
No, humans being the descendants of apes when unenlightened learn the hard way in a hard knock life. If you subsidize the predators among them they will consume their favorite prey, each other. In biology, cannibalisms are normal and occur in bacterium, arthropods, fish, birds and yes mammals. Think Soylent Green. Not that a movie script is a predictive model. It's not. But decisions we need to make as a society have not been made. Neglected and kicked down the road with the resulting discontent being highjacked to seize power. For that to happen history has to be canceled and it's part of the evil. This is going to be very difficult at best because as primitive primates, apes will chose a dominant ungodly male and just love follow the leader. With all the societal chaos and so many being so completely confused, a "If you don't know where you're headed any road will take you there" scenario applies. Rivals exists in this pandemonium where mistakes should be expected and understood.

Back in the day paying for "insider" information was worth it, but the internet has made it obsolete. There's too many sources providing the same info for free nowadays.

You're right. I pay for HOB, and I may know something 4-5 hours before someone who doesn't pay. Someone always leaks it.

It's the same way with newspapers. With Facebook, Twitter, etc., you'll have the news before they even print the paper. About the only time I buy the Daily Independent is when they do the high school football or basketball previews.

Quotes are coming in for cleaning and staining/sealing my shadowbox fence. $$$$$$$$. I'm not paying that kind of money. Looks like I'll be doing it myself again. It can wait until Spring. In the meantime I'll do the deck this Fall. Much easier job.

The most wonderful place that I have ever been is the Fairmont Chateau at Lake Louise Canada, a Canadian Pacific resort. Man what a wonderful place. I still dream of being there with my wife instead of on a business trip.

It cost CSX, me, very little but the amenities were boundless and the views of a mountain lake were fantastic. The views were so great that I was late for every damned meeting.

I've been there twice Bert and it's Heaven on Earth. Outstanding views. I've only been on business but before I die I'd like to take my wife there on vacation.

Day four of jury duty for me tomorrow. First day and a half was jury selection. 2 trials this week and we started out with 150 summons and 53 were gone by Monday morning at 0900. Then split in half for the trials and the questioning began. Had 25 for our trail yesterday morning and was down to 12 jurors by noon with 2 alternates. Trial began at 1:00 yesterday recessed for the evening at 5:30pm and picked up this morning at 9:30am until 5:00pm tonight. That was opening remarks and DA witnesses. Tomorrow starts the Defenses witnesses. Supposed to be finished by tomorrow evening but, I don't know.

Good morning from ATX. We're at 56°F and clear here in the Capital City. Today's high is expected at 91°F. We'll gladly take it.

Yesterday morning, I happened across a fight in which a pack of 3 stray dogs attacked a stray cat. Saved poor kitty's life by yelling at the dogs; they ran off. Plan on carrying my walking stick with me from now on.

Wishing continued happiness and good health to all our fellow D-League members.

Looking back I think the U.S. Army made me into a man or "an adult". I went in at age 22 and the next few years of discipline and team work changed me into someone who understood everyday was an opportunity to become a better person and learn a little bit more.

Had it not been for the Army it would have been a much harder road for me and I may have ended up catastrophic as you say.
