Snake Story:

We were walking the place one time and I was just tagging along with my Dad and my Granddaddy and Buck, GD's Cow Dog, half Collie and half German Shepherd.

Buck took off like he had been shot from a cannon. He went to an almost rotted-down tree stump. He started digging and then jumped back. Copperhead. It bit 'ol Buck on his muzzle. I don't remember him yelping, but that dog swelled up real big, but he did not die and GD did not take him to the Vet. It took maybe a week for Buck to get over that snakebite. We did not kill the Copperhead either.

And that is my snakebite story.

My wife did that to me one day at our old house. I was sitting on the couch watching TV when she let out this loud scream and I thought someone had broken in the house and was in the bathroom. Running in expecting to have to fight I found her standing there with a towel wrapped around her pointing to the tub saying "there is a spider in there, killi it!". I said "What? Really?" went back to the couch and said kill it yourself.

Chivalry is dead.

Man, I had the chance to spend a quiet couple hours (semi-quiet, my two daughters moved with us here in virginia due to their jobs.) My wife and I have been living by ourselves since about 2012. Have my two small grandchildren here too. One seven months and one eighteen months old. We love them but darn we don't get one second alone. Been contentious in that area as this has been nearing a year now.

Anyway I was in my office on my computer (here)..... And cruising the net. Realizing it is September 10th. I am overwhelmed with emotion to a place I rarely allow myself to get thinking about my country.

All the sacrifices for our freedom and the ultimate price paid by so many marking our heritage. 9/11 was the culmination of strife that United us, where did it go?

Please excuse the rant but I rarely go to this extent in a public setting but I have interacted with many of you for years in some form or another.

I realize I am new here and believe me, I am thankful and respect your indulgence.

I will steal a line from "Rooster Cogburn".

"Being around you pleases me."

Thanks!

Good morning from the Gulf Coast

We have a temperature 73° and our high is expected to be 85°. We may get a little rain to add to our total this month. Our lake is full. I got an email for the UK AD explaining the football ticket allocation. We are high priority and will get a chance to buy tickets. I am going to pass this year. I am not in the mood for it. No tailgating is allowed.

Today is 9/11 and I think most America has forgotten. I never will but I am in the minority.
I am keeping my eyes on that Eastern Sky

Trust all have a wonderful day.

It is already 80.0°F, goin' to be a warm one.

Slept well last night so I look forward to a good day. Tuesday and Fridays we have two friends over. We have a movie selected tonight, popcorn and all.

Happy Friday.
That is on our agenda to. Movies and more movies. Since the NFL went ant-police and pro cop killer BLM we have tuned out football and now enjoy a movie every night. My wife never liked sports that much so we are bonding more than any time in our life.

Now I enjoy a good movie as much as following sports. I never thought I would say that but I never thought sports would become political.

Wow! Thanks...didn't know if you wanted to talk about it or not. That's pretty serious stuff with all they had to do. Have known a couple of people with stenosis. Lost track of them so don't know if they had to have what you had done.
Take care of yourself.
I have stenosis, between L1-L2 and L-4-L5. Probably going to have the surgery, but the neurologist believes that my discs are stable enough that he can create space for the nerves without having to fuse them. Probably won't know for sure until he actually gets in there, but we are hoping, and it looks promising. Right now, between the exercise and my inversion table, my back hasn't bothered me that badly in the past 4-5 weeks.

Isn't it refreshing to be able to post your thoughts without someone pouncing on you? Here, everyone respects everyone else's opinion, and we look forward to hearing anything you wish to post.

How do you like those inversion tables? My back isn't as bad as yours and Sawnee....thank God. But it gets stiff. Jumped off a house (ranch style) while in college. Yard had not been sodded yet (new house) so I landed a bit off on dirt clods...so it has bothered me some from time to time. Nothing serious. But I've thought a few times of getting one of those tables. Figured it couldn't hurt. Relax the spine, etc.

I'm 100% sure it has already been said on this this thread but...Thanks to all those that ran towards the trouble on 9-11! Those people are HEROS! To all those that kicked it into gear and not knowing where the USA was headed...you're HEROS! For those that went into the rubble...you're HEROS! For those that went to battle those cowards...YOU ARE HEROS! To the fireman...police...medical specialist that ran towards trouble...YOU ARE HEROS! Thank You!

Mine isn't nearly as bad as Sawnee's, but the inversion table is pretty good. I use it for two minutes, every other day. It decompresses the spine and helps reverse the effects of gravity.

This is Officer Chris Amoroso of the NYNJ Port Authority Police. This photo is from September 11, 2001, with the towers behind him. After saving this pregnant woman Chris decided to go back in for his 5th time. Despite having a wife and baby at home, despite being only 29 years old, Chris and 59 other Police Officers and 343 Firefighters never made it back out.

I'll never forget either Sawnee. I made it a priority for my kids to see the 9/11 Memorial and Firefighters Memorial on our New York trip last Fall.
