D-League

No wonder the animal-spotting is in decline at your place.

Keeps the peace to regularly patrol so the critters know who thinks he's in charge.

Greetings D, hope all is well, . . . this is a sanctuary.

Bob Baffert (trainer) won his 6th. Tied the record. Can't remember the name of the horse. Tis the Law, the favorite, came in second.
As to your last sentence....there were a number of times I had the TV on mute if you know what I mean.
Overall, with no fans and being run on Labor Day weekend, I thought it was a bore. NBC had it on all afternoon so too much time to fill with fluff and drivel.

Authentic. Hey, Ohio, there are several of us on here who are Colonels. Is the Ohio, the state, or are you in Ohio County?

Just backed up data on both our phones using Samsung Smart Switch. If you ever transfer from an old smartphone to new, try backing up the old device yourself before heading to the dealer. Some techs will use your old photos without humans (pets, plants, outdoors, etc) and resell these photos on the net using programs like FOAP, 500px, Agora. They can also grab sensitive data. Our bank/credit union accounts are not on our phones.

You are safe. Not much demand for old photos of "It's National ______ Day".

Others were watching so I simply left the room. Same with all sports these days. Sports, for me, is entertainment. Politics is not. I try not to make a fuss, just relieve the stress of trying to comprehend such ignorance.

We had a neighbor who lived about a mile down the road and he would relieve himself off of the front porch, He wife was a meticulous gardener and the spot he used turned brown and a bunch of plants died.

His wife was puzzled and finally called a nursery and asked them to send somebody out. She explained nothing would grow there. Everything else was beautiful, healthy and lush. The man asked her point blank "do you have a dog". The old boy knew what was going on.

That had to be the most insignificant race is the history of horse racing. I too have no idea who won or who ran. It is the first time I can recall in my life I did not watch or listen to the race being called. I even saw the Derby when I was in the U.S. Army.

Sports are in a lot of trouble in America. I wonder if people understand?
I had forgotten all about it until my wife told me who had won.

Re your second picture: I spent 18 months in Turkey. Sometimes a few of us would go hiking in the mountains. One time we came across a group of Turkish kids diving off a cliff like that into a pool below. It was the last thing we expected to see.
I went to Turkey in 2012 and I was shocked and amazed at how beautiful it was. I thought i was going to a 3rd world country then we landed in Istanbul. That place is massive.

We traveled all around the country and actually took some boats to Greek Islands. But Turkey blew me away.

I was there in the late 60"s, mostly based near Izmir. It was pretty backwards then, especially as you got away from the bigger cities. Up in the mountains, there were still camel caravans, sheep herders, and the wolves who follow the sheep. There were several air bases in Turkey. Planes were armed with nukes. If the crap ever hit the fan they were to be on the way to Russia within 2 minutes. We had a hot dog pilot in an F100 playing games with the mountain people who crashed into the side of a mountain and all over a valley. Several of us spent a couple of weeks searching for and then guarding the wreckage till they could salvage what they needed. The biggest piece of him we found was part of his head still in the helmet. I found one of his dog tags with something gooey all over it.

They grew opium in plain sight. In Izmir on the waterfront, groups of old men smoked it in water pipes in plain sight. You peed in public urinals that ran the length of a street. There was a large women's prison where the women worked off their sentences as prostitutes. It was said that a man could send his wife/daughter there to serve his sentence.

He can't help it.
I'd just got out of basic training and green as could be. I got a pass and went to town one day. This guy came up to me with a sob story, so I gave him some cash. A cop came up to me and chewed me out big time. He told me in less than polite terms that the guy was just going to go get a bottle and go on a drunk. You live and you learn.

I was raised with similar kids and fortunate when adults and/or life guards were present to edjumicate/rescue our little heathen butts killing one another by leaping into friendly faces. We were not free to be undisciplined wild-lings. That supervision blessed us with 10 years of self-discipline practice before the teenage years.

Mine is signed by a Fayette County Sheriff, Ed Hahn,
I have 3
  1. Papaw's Gov Louie, B Nunn
  2. Dad's Gov. John Y. Brown Jr.
  3. Mine Gov. Paul E. Patton
. . . remember when life was much simpler.

So you're like a triple Kentucky Colonel to the third power.

I hope he used the money I sent to him to pay some bills. I thought that was the idea of helping him. Surely he would not drink up the money people sent him in good faith.
You don’t give money to someone the stipulate how they spend it.

I was in Istanbul in the early 70s and they still drove herds of sheep down the main streets. Was in several places in Turkey and it was the worst country I was ever in. Maybe it's different now

Nice catch WC, what did you catch them on?
7 1/8" blue metal flake stick worms. Going again tomorrow. Was going to cut grass but, it is suppose to rain tomorrow afternoon so, I cut grass today and will fish tomorrow morning. Man! this retirement stuff is nice. Well semi retired, will do part time when I feel the need but, for right now I am enjoying just doing what I want.

We used to be able to do a copy and paste in here. No longer. Any way to do it now?
