D-League

got some medical issues going on...PSA test for the last 4 yrs has been between .98 to 1.04..Last check was 3.91, next day test was 4.81. Steroids lower PSA in some cases 50% and I've been on steroids for the last week because of a back issue, that tells me my PSA could be much higher, Which in turn tells me I may have cancer. Maybe or maybe not, who knows . See a urologist next week. Tomorrow epidural in lower back because of past surgeries ( scar tissue ) and arthritis. According to Dr. Google a symptom of prostate cancer is sciatica issues with pain down the legs, what I'm having now..Been on a low carb diet for the last few weeks and have dropped 19lbs to help lower back issues.
Lotsa good eating on this type of diet, you don't go hungry.

Prolly gonna keep my pool open for a few weeks more ( it has a heater) When I cover it, it puts me into the winter gonna get cold funk.. Wish I lived in a climate where you never have to wear long pants weather-wise..

Bout all I got..

carry on D

Hope the urologist gives you good news. Sometimes PSA readings can be inaccurate because of all the other stuff you have going on. Keep us informed and we'll be praying for a good outcome.

Sorry to hear this. I found out that I had prostate cancer in September 2016. They did 12 biopsies and 7 of them were cancerous (one stage 4). On Jan. 10, 2017 they inserted 71 Iodine 125 laced titanium pellets into the cancerous parts of my prostate.

Last spring my oncologist fired me and told me to come back when I had cancer. I now see my urologist once a year. My PSA is usually around 1 or below.

Cancer is scary stuff. Don't waste time. Speed is on your side.

Bert, my best friend contracted prostate cancer and he went the radioactive seed route as well. He died from a heart attack about 6-7 years later, and the autopsy showed no signs of cancer. It must be a really good form of treatment.

"Hi D-Leauge,
Not much interesting to report on around here; just another mundane workday in a very stressful job. Lately, I fantasize about quitting my job and taking up a very simple job, like loading boxes on a truck or just doing some simple labor job where I don't have to think and don't have to make such important decisions where I have to navigate a maze of people with different agendas.

We had a very crisp, pleasant morning in the 50s, but the high will make its say up in the 90s again and through the weekend. We have another cross country race this weekend in Rome, GA and hopefully will be back in plenty of time to watch UK try to upset South Carolina.

I thought that the season kinda turned sideways on us last week. This game is must win, if there ever was one, to salvage a decent season. "

Had those very thoughts myself lately. Dealing with the State Department and various other government agencies in relation to travel for the military is making me have to think too much. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Howdy D-Leaguers. Nice cool day in DC. Second night of not sleeping all that well. My wife has a tooth problem that keeps her up and down and I somehow pulled a muscle in my back. Damn, this getting old stuff really isn't for the weak.

Finally watched the first part of the Ken Burns Country Music documentary. I don't know if that is being discussed here as I've been too busy to keep up with everything. But I enjoyed the video biographies of Jimmie Rodgers and the Carter family.
It has been very enjoyable and the behind the scenes into their personal life is very interesting.

@55wildcat "Which in turn tells me I may have cancer. Maybe or maybe not, who knows."

Cannot be a good feeling. Hope all turns out well for you.

"Cheering for the Wildcats means so much more when you’re a student at the University of Kentucky.

That’s what makes the Donovan Fellowship tuition waiver extra-special. It is only available for adults age 65 and up taking academic classes.

Other than age and the availability of space in classes, the tuition program is fairly flexible. As a Donovan Fellow, you can audit classes without earning credit. Or, you can earn credit even not working toward a degree. Or, take courses as a degree-seeking student. It’s up to you.

If you’re working toward a degree you’ll need to be accepted for admission to the university. But there are no educational requirements to audit undergraduate academic classes."

Afternoon D just got back in from detecting, I didn't find much 28 cents(one wheat) looks like now I just owe $326.72 on my first detector. I did find a first for me, a transistor tube a 6GH8 USA. I know someone knows all about this in the D. Also found some type of badge, it's 3/4" square with what looks like a green flying dragon on the front. On the bottom it has two small pieces of metal with the words Courage and on the other piece it has Conquer. On the back it's got N S Meyer Inc New York. Going to have to see if I can find out what this is.

Which make and model detector have you got?

Which make and model detector have you got?

Not answering for Cord, but I bought my granddaughter a detector for Christmas last year. Don't know what model it was, but it was the best Bounty Hunter. Had headphones and she seems to like it. She just goes out and plays with it at different places, but she has found some neat things. Just wondered if it is any good, or do I need to upgrade her? Thought I would ask since I know that you know your stuff when it comes to metal detectors.

I have the Ace 350 and the AT Pro. They are made by Garrett. My 350 is just setting in the corner now that I have the Pro. The Pro is a great machine for the money. It is simple to use. Garrett has an AT Max which has a cordless headset. With the Pro I have dug coins out of the ground 10" in the ground. The biggest thing is just getting to know your detector, which just means listen and learn how the detector talks to you, the more you use it the better it is. Detectors are like cars some likes Chevy's some likes Ford's, I like Garrett! I order all my detecting gear from Kellyco out of Florida. They will listen to what you are asking, if you are having trouble, then assist you in anyway they can. The best thing I did was, I went to Garrett. com and watched videos on how to use it. You can stop the video if you need to and watch something you don't understand. I am always ask if I have found any treasures, my answer is yes, I found a Star Wars glider that my kids use to play with. I found a set of rings my neighbors little boy had thrown out in the yard for her. I found an ID bracelet that my neighbor lost over 30 years ago. I took it to his widow I saw her burst out in tears when I gave it to her. Those are the treasures I find, not the coins that are just laying in a container in the office!!!!

One more thing, I did find a badge in my friends yard that was given him when he was part of the armor strike force in Europe. It was triangular in shape. I think one of you posted a picture of it on here one time for me, because I have no idea how to. I wish whoever did would post it again. Thanks!

Nothing wrong with that machine. The way I look at it is, why pay out the wazoooooo for a detector that he or she may use a little the get bored with and put it down and not pick it up again. If she is having a good time that is Great!!!!! If she really gets into detecting you can always take a step up in detectors!!! That' why I bought an Ace 350 first!

Yes SIR ATX you come thru for ole cordman again!!!!! The one I found had lost all it's color and the Old Ironsides but it was still beautiful. This was one of those finds that you could hold in your hands, close your eyes and almost feel how honored you are just to have it in your hands! As I held it my thoughts were "Where have you been and what have you seen"!!!!

Even though I did not serve my country in battle like a lot of you guys did (I was NG) I am proud that I was part of this Country's military! To you guys that did serve in battles THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE!!!!!!!![cheers] Root beer!

No problem Mr. Ben You will know when it's time to upgrade, it will be when she comes to you and says, do they make better detectors? I think I would like to have another one! That's when you get the old one and go with here!!!!

Sorry D if I sound like a babbling buffoon (AKA politician) but some things just kinda stirs my emotions, like hearing a young person is enjoying metal detecting and is outside enjoying that instead of being in the house doing nothing and the military. When I hear that someone has been hurt or killed in service that hurts deep inside of me. When I hear you guys talk about your military service and where you have been and where you have been stationed that makes me proud of YOU!!! What would my life have been like if I was drafted and had gone to Viet-Nam, if I did would I even be here with this bunch of great men and women on the D? I know that you can't what if your life. All I can think is GOD had my life figured out before I did. Later D cordman out!

I have been rooting for beer all day and now, I can have one.

Served in the 1st Armored for 2 years in Bad Krueznach Germany Feb 93-Feb 95.

We were assigned to 1AD at the same time.

<- - - - Baumholder, May, 92-Mar 96. Transferred from Garlstedt because of drawdown.
Was supposed to go to Baumholder, 13B and was on the bus letting people off in BK when division Sergeant Major got on the bus looking for some one to run DTAC at night in the field while he ran it during the day. G-3 training when back in BK. He looked around the bus, saw my Drill Sergeant Badge and said: "You, with the Drill Sergeant Patch, you now work for me". My orders changed right then and there. VOCO. Fun job working for him and the three generals. They took care of me really good. As long as you kept their equipment and office running smoothly, no one messed with me. It was great duty.

Morning folks.. More 90 degree stuff. My kids have never been trick or treating. Pagan holiday. Normally they will stay at home from school that day. A friend of mine wondered if they resented that, and he asked my 15 year old if he would let his kids do that and he said never. It's one of those things my immediate makes a statement on if asked.

Anyway, have to work today 5-10:15. I will try to get to bed when I get home cause I have to roll out and take the kids to school. Been doing that all week and my sleep is all screwed up. Rolling with it though. This country boy will survive...by the grace of God. FCC.

Good morning D, I went on a search hunt yesterday after finding the badge I found and finally got an answer. It looks like the badge or lapel pin comes from Fort Bliss, 1st BCT 1st Armor Division Iron Dukes. I am not sure how old this piece is but I am glad I rescued it from the ground. This pin still has both pins on the back, but both are bent and I don't want to try and straighten them back up, don't want to take a chance on breaking them. Also the picture I saw has red arrows on it, but the one I found has green arrows. Going to keep on searching to try and find how old it might be. Any of you military that has been stationed at Bliss might know, If you do please let me know. Thanks

Upon further review with another magnifying glass the points of the arrows which I thought was green was red at some time. I guess the small tips that was red has corroded off. Carry on
