Was supposed to go to Baumholder, 13B and was on the bus letting people off in BK when division Sergeant Major got on the bus looking for some one to run DTAC at night in the field while he ran it during the day. G-3 training when back in BK. He looked around the bus, saw my Drill Sergeant Badge and said: "You, with the Drill Sergeant Patch, you now work for me". My orders changed right then and there. VOCO. Fun job working for him and the three generals. They took care of me really good. As long as you kept their equipment and office running smoothly, no one messed with me. It was great duty.
Good stuff. My first ever visit to Bad Kreuznach happened in fall, 1984. I was stationed at Gelnhausen then, moving to Burbach 2 months later.

I participated in the annual Fackelschwimmen on the Nahe River through town. It was quite the experience, swimming down a river at night while holding a burning torch in 45°F water. Yes, at least a wet-suit is required, while a dry-suit is recommended.

During my entire time at Baumholder, I might have visited Division HQ in BK maybe 3 times. Beautiful city.

I see the NCAA has banned Georgia Tech from post season play this year because an assistant coach gave a player $300 to go to a strip club. I'd say that is very bad news for Kansas and eventually Louisville. It appears this is a new era in which the NCAA is desperate to appear still relevant after the UNC-CHeats and other fiascos.

Thanks for posting the Abbey Roads cover Austin. That was a special album, probably their best overall and a surprise coming after they'd more or less fallen apart as a group. That cover is iconic -- I was about 13 when it came out and remember all my friends getting caught up in the "Paul is Dead" nonsense. "Look! The fake Paul is holding a cigarette in his right hand. And everyone knows Paul is left-handed!"

I saw that committee crap on NBC this morning. A waste of time and our tax money. I wouldn't vote for a dem. if they were running for dog catcher. They need to stop wasting our money and put that energy in building our country. I see about 300 to 400 hundred people a week....shopping. Struggling to make it. They need to put some energy in that. FCC.

Hey Don holler at me when you are in town. Earlier the better. The kids get home from school, well, one at 2'30 and two at 3:10 After that it is a blur until bed time. I have some time too after 10pm when they hit the hay. Hope all is well Don.
I'll call you when I come. It would be good to get together.

Agree. I read the transcript and out of 3 pages, there were two sentences about Biden, and all Trump wants to do is get to the bottom of why Joe told the Ukraine to fire the prosecutor, or he would withhold the US subsidy. there absolutely was no Quid Pro Quo.

Don't know how many of you listened to the Reds broadcast today, but Marty's farewell was a real tear jerker. I have to admit that I got choked up. Part of my childhood retired today. Still remember so many good times sitting on a Sunday afternoon, with my Dad and Grandfather, listening to Marty and Joe on the Radio. It feels like the day Cawood retired. You are happy for them, but selfishly, you wished they would have continued. I'll miss that, "and this one belongs to the Reds."

Good morning D League. Happy Friday. Rarely will a weekend be more welcome for me.

Cool, crisp and clear in the DMV as the locals call this region of DC Maryland and Virginia.

We got word yesterday of a date in a month or so when my wife’s father, a Korean War vet who passed away earlier this year, will be buried in Arlington Cemetery. That will be quite an honor for the family. Living in the area, ive taken my children to the grounds many times. Itll be great for them to return to see grandpa.

Good morning D League

Our current temperature is a pleasant 67° with clear skies and we should get up to near 90°. Pretty much the same as yesterday. I am enjoying the black, strong cup of coffee I am drinking. So much I am going to get another cup. I need to make another run to the recycle center to get rid of 10 more big bags of yard waste. Then I will put down fresh mulch for the winter. A couple of pick up trucks should do it.

So have a nice day and let's get in football mode. Tomorrow is a big game for South Carolina and word is if they do not beat us their coach may be fired. That means the USC fans who hate the coach will be pulling for us. Right?

Go Cats Beat South Carolina.

It is an honor. Glad for you and your family. I saw where they have proposed a change to the Arlington burials. I believe that beginning in 2020, only those who have been awarded a purple heart, a bronze or silver star, CMH, Generals, Presidents, and V-P's will be able to have standard burials. All others, who were eligible prior to that would have their cremated remains interred above ground, in crypts.

I didn't see that Ben. I know the grounds are getting very crowded. My father-in-law would have qualified under the new criteria, but I feel bad for others that have dreamed of the opportunity and it won't be available.

So many stories when you walk through that place. The vast sweep of American history -- the best of it -- captured in those few acres of Hallowed Ground.

I saw a crawl on Fox on Wednesday night when I was watching Hannity. It said that under the current rules, that Arlington would be full by the mid 2050's, and with the proposed change, it would extend the life for another 150 years.
