D-League

I just returned from the Doc and I have what I feared. "Swimmers Ear". So I will be on ear drops for 14 days 4x a day. The drops have antibiotics and steroids in them. It sounds so simple but swimmers ear is painful and can keep you up all night.

I really like my doctor. He is an old Florida country boy but his grandfather was from Bell County, KY . Doc loves old stuff especially pictures from the Appalachian mountains, guns, etc. We have lunch together at times and share information and old photos. I have a couple of Confederate rifles he is interested in and also a WWI German Luger captured during WWII from a German Colonel. I have the papers on this with the name of the American soldier who captured it and authority for him to bring it back to the U.S. for his personal property. I may be downsizing soon so we might discuss these a little more. .

Thank you, he really was a good guy, always courteous to everyone. Just let one of the guys I work with know I will be out tomorrow morning to go to the funeral and when I told him who it was, he remembered Zip from the VA clinic on Ft Sill and said every time he went in, Zip was his caregiver. He explained to me that he was always so friendly and made sure that he understood everything about the meds he was prescribed and went the extra mile to help. That was his nature even with the students we have. God called a good one home.
Sorry to hear Warrior.

A friend of mine that I Studied martial arts from and with since 1988 and helped teach at his Do Jo years later after I retired from the military died Saturday from cancer. He was an associate pastor for years at a church in which he used as his Do Jo as well which was in a poor neighborhood. The church allowing him to use it kept the cost down which made the cost around $25.00 a month per person. I will attend his funeral which will be held at the FT. Sill National Cemetery tomorrow morning here in Elgin OK. All practitioners of the arts are requested by his wife (who is also a 6th degree herself) to wear their karate uniforms.

May he RIP...:pray::pray::pray:

Glad to see the D-League all doing well. Condolences to Warrior Cat on losing a friend.

Been going through a busy patch, and adjusting to my family all being scattered around.

My wife was visiting an aunt in NYC this weekend, and we had a phone Instant Message chat going with our kids from Maryland- to Kansas City- to Austin, Texas - to Lexington - to City Island, the Bronx. Pretty cool to be able to stay in touch, and even send each other photos, but in some ways it just heightened the loneliness of it as I was walking through a patch of forest in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Anyway, my wife is back, and the kids are all doing well, so that's the best I can hope for. Nervous about the Florida game. My daughter in KC is a Gator Grad, and that ups the ante.

My God has it really been 18 years since 9/11? In a way it feels like it only happened a few years ago but in other ways it feels like ancient history.

Yeah, it's been long enough now that we should accept them with open arms into our country and let them benefit from everything our forefathers provided for us. They're just misunderstood.

Railroad is improving. Still in CCU. FCC.

Thanks for the update. Tell him we're thinking of him.

Sitting here watching tv and they were talking about 9/11 and I just remembered that on that morning while everything was taking place, I was playing golf in Vidalia Ga. I'll be playing golf again tomorrow. Be safe.

I caught swimmer's ear once on the south coast of France back in 1986 after a scuba diving trip. I was miserable and could hardly move. Ex-wife #1 drove us back.

Good morning D
Hadn’t realized that I’ve not been on here since Sunday. So much going on this week
@warrior-cat ...I’m so sorry for the loss of your friend. Thoughts and prayers for his friends and family
Somber day. 18 years ago we were attacked and we promised we would never forget. But, collectively we have and it breaks my heart. But I haven’t forgotten and I never will. Ever
May God bless you all.
Much love to each of you

Good morning D League

Our weather is a copy of yesterday. Current temperature is 72°F. with a high of 88°F. Lots of sun and chance of rain about 4:00. That is normal.

Well I am treating myself for this aggravating "swimmers ear". It is miserable. For the next 14 days I will be putting 4 drops of this stuff in my ear, 4 times a day. Hopefully in the next couple of days I will be able to hear out of my left ear again. The ear canal completely closed which is normal for this stuff. I am thankful RR is improving as we continue our prayers for his complete recovery.

I was also thankful to see Xavier Peters is eligible. He will provide needed depth and I feel this is the beginning of a stellar career for him. Trust all have a great day.

Thanks Bev. I feel the same way. Today, (as every 9-11) I'm wearing a black shirt with a Red, White & Blue awareness ribbon over my heart attached by a flag pin. I live with the consequences every day. The insane security, the cost of lives lost.

My wife and daughters are going to New York in a couple of weeks, and I told them they had to get pics of the 9/11 Memorial for me.

Good post Bko...I won't forget that day. I was actually at the Pentagon on 9/11 -- in a civilian capacity. I also knew fairly well a woman on the plane that hit the Pentagon - Barbara Olson, wife of former US solicitor general Ted Olson. Of course, I only found out she was on the plane later. It was truly a heartbreaking tragedy for this country, and changed so much that happened since. I often wonder what America would be like if that day never happened -- no Iraq, no Afghanistan, no endless crucifying of Bush by the media for taking the steps he took, probably no Obama who capitalized on the Iraq war fatigue, and likely no Trump, who was elected in reaction to Obama. The effects of that day never end.

Keep this in the thread, BUT, I talked to a friend today who has a friend who is good friends with Neal Brown. According to the friend friend, Neal said he didn't take SS with him when he left Troy because SS couldn't play with the "big boys".

Well, he's GOING to play with the big boys now. Man up!
