D-League

It is 75.9°F, 93% humidity and rainy (.08" so far). Supposedly we have already reached our high of 80° just after midnight. I welcome the cooler weather.

My new handy yard man has run out on me. It is hard to get folks to work. I suppose a man's work ain't worth crap anymore. I paid him what he charged without question but that is not good enough.

That would be classic.

Morning D, Raining here today so I won't be able to work on my deck, so I think I may go out to my sisters house and try to put up a storm door for her.
In the past I would be saying that I am "going" to put up a storm door, but for some reason I have some of my confidence in doing some things that I would go all out on doing!

After church last night I went out back on the deck and watched another lightening show this time up towards the Evansville way, till the sketters ran me back in the house!

Ya'll have a great day, my prayers are for those grieving still and for Bkocats. Mrs. M says that she knows what part she would cut off first!

Morning D
Waiting for my Mom to get here so we can go to church. Lord knows I need it today
I’m feeling so incredibly angry and sick right now
Three days ago, I found out some disturbing news...beyond disturbing
As you guys know we like to go off roading at DTOR. There was a young couple we befriended there. She has two children from a previous marriage. They got married at DTOR a little over a year ago. We really thought a lot of this couple.
Three days ago, the woman was looking at her husbands phone and found pictures and a couple of videos of this man molesting her daughter. She had him arrested immediately ...and a rape kit came back positive with his DNA.
This little girl is six years old.
If you guys would, please pray for this little girl and her momma; indeed for her whole family.
Missed this yesterday. What a horrible story. I'd like to say it is unimaginable, but sadly we've probably all seen things that make it clear that the range of human depravity encompasses things like this. Yes, I'll pray for the woman and her kids. And I'll hope that somebody leaks a story on the guy's crimes to the inmates at whatever prison he ends up in.

This is the actual launch control room as it was on the day of the moon launch in July of 1969. All the equipment, computers, etc as they were on that day. But this is the crazy thing. You are holding in your hand an Iphone that has more capability and "power" than all of the computers in this room combined. And these computers put a man on the moon. Think about that for a minute.

They used to say that about hand held calculators and you couldn't even watch funny cat videos on those.

Didn't win anything at golf this weekend other than $25 on Friday night and $5 on Saturday from a side bet. Near as I can figure I came out $255 in the hole. 3 days in a row is too much for me. I drove the ball well in the scramble but my A player can consistently hit it 300 yds down the middle. We used none of my drives. I never made a putt of any significance.

Wife is home from work today because we were supposed to do something with a couple of other couples. Now the weather has cancelled our plans. Guess I'll go out and piddle in the workshop all day.

Hello dere!
Kept the beer consumption to minimum over the weekend...I'm sure I'll make up for it at some point.
Not sold on #2 staying home for long...she's got our heads swimming right now. She is not thinking like a normal person... Moving on from that topic.
Break in the heat feels great. There is nothing enjoyable about July & August in the mid to upper 90°s....unless you're in a pool.

Anybody here got a good salsa recipe? Tried making some last night, it wasn't bad but....

Whatever you do, refrain from using FCC’s recipe. If you do use it, keep your local poison control # and rescue squad # on speed dial.

Glad you mentioned that because I've been thinking about making some salsa. I just use the tomatoes in the can, whole and peeled. Squeeze most of the juice out of them and put em in the food processor with jalapenos, garlic, salt, pepper, fresh cilantro, vinegar, onion, cumin, and cayenne pepper. Chill the tomatoes first so they don't turn into puree while you adjust the taste. One pulse, taste, adjust, repeat.

I have to work too and I turn 50 on August 2. So at least 15 more years for me, probably more. I have a 14 yr old starting high school this year. I’m not going to have much SS myself as I’ve spent most of my kids’ younger years at home
My wife's is August 3rd. We should have a 3 day celebration and wake up hungover on the 4th.

[laughing]

fresh cilantro
That was one of the things we didn't have that we agreed it was definitely missing. We did have some Mexican tarragon though, just not the same. We were using our homegrown black cherry tomatoes.

Hey eville, ask railroad about my salsa. Catfaninsc is mad still cause I didn't send him any. He said railroad stayed in the hospital for 4 days after he ate some. That's not so. I think it was only 2 days. He always stretches things. But anyway it's the best salsa ever put together on the planet. FCC

When tomatoes are in season I like a good salsa fresca/pico de gallo. Tomatoes, white onion, cilantro, lime, serrano peppers, garlic, salt, pepper and whatever else tickles your fancy. The only problem is that it doesn't last more than 3-4 days.

Don’t believe him OldEvilleCat! He and railroadkat met up at Starnes. After some delicious Q, FCC gave him some of his salsa and had him try it while they were in the parking lot. FCC only agreed to get him to the emergency room after he made him promise to only say nice things about his garage made bootleg salsa. He uses the pans he drains the oil in his car to make the stuff and stores it the heat of the garage. The health dept. shut him down once for. It was big news in the D League Gazette a couple of years back.

In FCC's defense motor oil does add a natural smokey flavor to the salsa.

When good tomatoes are in season they never get a chance to make it to salsa because I eat them like an apple.
