Oppressive heat through Sunday and then some relief next week. Actually next week looks glorious.

Our tomatoes are going like gangbusters. These Earthboxs are fantastic, much better than expected. We'll easily get over 150 tomatoes with just 4 plants (roma, early girl, better boy and rutger). Maybe over 200. It's only mid-July.

Get a knee replacement in your short leg and have em put a 2" shim in there to even you up. Then you won't be walking in a big circle.

Sorry to hear about your father. Hope he recovers quickly.

I was sitting in our living room with my wife and mom and dad. I had a Polaroid camera and took a few photos from the TV screen. They have probably faded out by now and I haven't seen them in years. I think I will search for them for curiosity's sake.

We've got pics somewhere too. One is of me sleeping on a big chair. Dad always said I was asleep when they touched down but I saw it all. They took that picture the next morning because I had never went to bed.

This estate business is much more convoluted than I could have imagined. Just getting started too. Can't wait for the day when they enact that magic law that's going to make all the beauracracy run smoothly and efficiently.

Good Morning D League

It is currently 74° and we should see close to 90° this afternoon. This weekend our little town is having "Christmas in July "with the main focus on a gun show. They will close Main St for outdoor vendors to show, sell and trade guns. There will be 141 tables. The sheriff promised a snow machine to help us get in the spirit. I predict the snow will be a big puddles 3 seconds after it hits the ground. It might melt in the air before it hits the ground, if so we can call it a rain machine.

Changed out the battery yesterday in #2's car. I'm skeptical that was the issue...it was only 2 1/2 yrs old. I'm afraid it's pulling a charge somewhere & draining the battery. Another wait & see. She's got jumper cables in the trunk now.
Mowed the front yard last night with a little help from the redhead. Gotta do the back today after work. Then I'm gonna head in to the west side and listen to one of my favorite local bands. They've played at Stevie Rays a few times. Next time they're are gonna be there I may go and try to meet some of you that are in the area...if your interested.
Do your best or don't... no pressure. It's Friday.

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning here. Temp is hanging around 68° with a slight breeze coming out of the west. Of course, the breeze is coming out of an air conditioning vent and there is no way I'm venturing outside until it's absolutely necessary.

Heat index could hit 110° for the next 3 days.

It took my grandfather when I was 7 years old and he was 67. I still remember him and his words of wisdom. He worked all of his life in his citrus groves in this blazing sun. It took its toil.

When we lived in Memphis, I played golf on one of the city courses. There was a retired doctor, 100 years old, that could still shoot around a 100, and he walked and pulled his all wood clubs. He could hit it about 150 yards.

I do not remember either of my grandfathers nor my dad's mother.

Dad's father died at 74, his mom 73.
Mom's dad died at 64, her mom at 70.

I did enjoy my maternal grandmother until I was 14.

I lost my dad when I was 29, he was 73.

This is why the Social Security age was established at 65. Few were going to live much longer than that and a whole lot of people died before that age in those days.
