D-League

We have a family, more like a colony, of red headed woodpeckers that love to peck on our trees. They are not doing any harm and are enjoyable to watch. Another species that has been entertaining us lately is this little boy. He will be headed North any day now and most of his species already have. Headed to Oklahoma and other places. He is the achrusterus robin

These guys have been here since the last of February, it seems like they got here early. It seemed funny to see them out in the last snow we had. I watched them lurk on the edges of the blacktop street just waiting for the worms to crawl out onto the warm street!

My favorite hymn that I have requested be played at my funeral.

It was also one of the favorites of a young man who died in his late 20s. of cancer. Best friends with his Dad. His death really hit our little church hard. He and his wife were just getting established in their service of the Lord. I think of him every time I sing it or hear it. Good ending verse if I may say. FCC

Hey cord. Looks like the rain is gone unless we get some wrap around from that whole system. Looks good on radar. Anyway, got to work a few. Filling in for a girl that has grandkids moving away and wants to spend time with them before they move away.

Y'all try to keep 'er between the ditches. FCC.
I was going to answer and say yep it's over but we have had a flood here in the last hour and another on the way that's in south Muhlenberg now!

Ok the answer is Larry Jaster and against the Dodgers. I don't know why I remember this but I was a huge Cardinal fan in the 60's and 70's I still am, They are the only team I have ever followed well except the Yankees just to see if they lost! Always hated the Yankees! But not Chris Farley's yankees

<- - - - - still huge ATL Braves fan.

Late to the party today.

I guessed Bob Gibson.

Had a good time with Dad today. They dropped him on the floor again today. That's twice in the same week. I went straight to an administrator and explained to her the difference in an isolated incident and a pattern of behavior. He didn't get hurt either time.

Good morning D-League

I woke up this morning to a soaking rain that is expected to end early this afternoon. After it clears we will have sunshine with clear skies and 84°.. The rain will bring brisk winds and a low tonight of 53°. I put out a lot of fertilizer yesterday and magnesium so this worked out well. Funny listening to the radio the weather man is complaining being a weather man does not pay like it use to. The $300,000 salaries are no more except for the big boys who do hurricane forecasting, etc. And maybe some of the national weather babes on cable. He blamed it on IPhone weather apps and the fact anybody can have a weather station in their basement now. Or garage down here.

Fishing is going good and the Tarpon are starting to jump. Should be prime in about two weeks.

That would have been my guess too! It was just one of those freak things that happens. He only won 35 games in his 7 years in the bigs.

Today is the last day you can apply to be a Weeki Wachee Mermaid. They have 4 positions open and have 350-400 applicants each year.. They have a total of 40 full staff. "Mermaids require eight to twelve months of training before they are able to perform in the underwater theater. They must learn each position: Control Booth/Director, Swimmer (multiple roles), Host/Hostess, and Safety Person (in the water), rotating as needed. The position is approximately 30 hours a week. Summer weeks can add an extra shift"

You have to have excellent character and most all of them are professionals with college degrees. .About three-fourths of the applicants are eliminated through the water testing and personal interviews. The water test consists of swimming 400 yards against the current, treading water for fifteen minutes, trying to perform three underwater ballet moves after seeing them once, and being able to hold your breath underwater for thirty seconds. All of this in cold spring water with a year round water temperature of 72 ° The spring produces 150 million gallons of water a day. Treading water 20 feet below the surface with that amount of pressure pushing on you means you better be an athlete.

Any D-Leaguers want to try out?
