Good morning D-League

Nice and sunny down here with current temperature 70 degrees. High in mid 80's with clear skies today.

Over the past week I have been working to winterize my landscape by putting down 3 pick up truck loads of mulch, trimming 32 palm trees and planting odds and ends for my wife. She has a list. LOL

Getting ready for the big game against the Vols. They have been a thorn in our side for a half a century. We need a win and we need it bad. BEAT TENNESSEE

Have a wonderful day and prayers continue for those of you who are feeling a little down or trying to get well. Take care.

Headed off to Louisville after this post. I think I'll put a coat in the van and one in my car starting today. I don't wear coats but I like to have one in the vehicle just in case I need it.

We honestly should win out in football and not just in a small way. We are capable of smashing the 3 teams we have left. I'm going to the UL game. There are still tickets for sale on the internet, but my wife might get some from her office.

Duke made too many shots for us to compete. Add in the times we got called for phantom fouls that play on the minds of our players and the inability to hit the broad side of a barn and you have the perfect storm. There can be no doubt that Duke has more talent than we do, but I don't really think it is as much as that score would indicate. Any given night.

I think our guys were ready for that game. How could they not be? What they weren't ready for was how to deal with a team that hit everything they threw at the basket. They weren't ready for not being able to touch the other team while that team was knocking them to the floor and not being called for a foul.

I think the elephant in the room that everyone is ignoring though, is Brad redshirting. Man, we sure could have used his deadeye shooting that night. I'm thinking that's the reason Sophomore Nick Richards went scoreless. He knew salvation was sitting right there on the bench but wasn't allowed to play. Gotta be tough on the big fella.

Didn't take long to catch up here today.

Unstoppable force met a movable object last night. nuff said

Fairly pleased with the midterm elections.

Didn't officially get up until 1330 today. Feel great. Two nights in a row I only had about four hours of sleep. Made up for that last night and today.

Saw 179.5 on the scale earlier. Took a picture. Before: 0 After: l

We, as fans, put unrealistic expectations and responsibilities on these kids and when they don't live up to the standards we set, we get mad at them. We get mad at our coach because our players miss shots and make bad passes while their team hits shots and steals bad passes. Does any of that seem fair? Or logical?

Hope that whatever that was last night, serves as motivation for the rest of the year. Puke played as good as it gets. Zion is going to get his. Couldn't stop barret. Think he had 22 at half. Really? What the heck?

Oh, and hello to all.Hope your having a great day. FCC.

FCC I'll have a great day depending what our kids do only a couple of days practice. Again I saw Baker in street cloth hoodie and long jogging pants. He could be playing. At least get him on the floor every day!

Well, slowly returning to society. Whatever force it was, our team dismantled and never recovered. I certainly will not watch the game again to see. But I bet Cal does. He's not stupid. Hopefully, we'll get number 9 out of this. In my day, a couple of hard fouls would have checked some of that down the lane crap.

It seemed K had some kind of plan early to pull us away from the basket on defense. If I remember right, Zion's first shot was a 3,. which he hit. He knew he could post up at any time with Zion. He's coached some good players, but 285, with a 45 inch vertical. Yikes. But hey, let him get his and stop the others who was just about scoring at will.

Earlier that day, I told the wife that you never know how a bunch of 18 and 19 year olds were going to react to that big of a stage that early in the season. It's too painful to recall exactly what happened. And mind you, I emailed CBS and requested that they give parental warning before they run that dang shot from '92 on their ads for march madness. I want to get my kids out of the room first.

So, interesting start to the season. That's the last team in America I would have wanted a but whipping from. I bleed blue, will always bleed blue. Go Cats. FCC.

Hey FCC good hearing from you. I want to see with only a couple of days practice what or Basketball team can come together .Of Course beat THE VOLs and finish our season with a chance of a new Years Day Bowl

Morning all.
Free breakfast this morning...a group of us from work met up at a restaurant and had a good old fashioned sit down breakfast. Haven't had one of those in a while.
As a Kentucky fan, how many times has it been that we're looking forward to a Saturday football game to forget about a basketball game? Less than 3...I'm being generous with that.
It is just one game, very early in the season....get that 40-0 talk out of the way right off the bat!
I had yesterday off...cleaned the siding on the north side of the house. It was getting a little green. Fixed daughter #2 car, brake lights were out, put in new bulbs, changed filters in both HVAC systems, went to Rural King, nothing exciting.
S'posta be in the mid 20's this weekend (for the low) ... What in the H E double hockey sticks is that all about?!

Better days ahead...

Home again. Getting ready to hard boil a dozen eggs in the instant pot. No muss, no fuss and they turn out perfect every time.

Dad was feeling good today and we hit two piddler malls. One in LaGrange and one in Middletown. He felt good enough to eat some White Castle cheeseburgers too. Wish I could have had 5 or so.

I bought a little shop vac that I believe will fit inside my cook table for storage. I'm going to start using a vac to clean out the ash from the eggs. I hope to keep the ash off the table by doing it like that. I was using the little cleaning tool and a small shovel but that was kinda messy.

Picked up a 4 pound round roast to cut up and make beef jerky out of. Dad and I are both out of the last batch. Got lucky on the last one and the texture was the best of any I have made. What happened and the reason it was good was that I forgot all about it being in the dehydrator. I laid down to go to sleep and just happened to remember it. Can't beat luck.

Vacuuming the ashes ****s the filter up real quick.

I'd pay to watch you sing this in front of who was supposed to be my son in-law. Damn SOB. Crazy thing is, after UK, I also pull for Rocky Top, and even over the "other" UT (University of Texas). Just hate the Vols. Anyway, I'm gonna buy my granddaughter a UK hat and jersey.

#screwhim.

Good morning all, Hot and humid as can be in beautiful SWFL. And that's a problem, it shouldn't be this hot and humid in November! . High today of 87.

I doubt I will watch the BB game tonite, but looking forward to the FB game Saturday. Got to run some errands this morning and take the wife to the dentist. I can tell all the Snowbirds are back in SWFL. Saw three wrecks yesterday, and two Tuesday. Y'all have a great day

41.7° F here, overcast and looking like November.

Cold front is supposed to move through here and could have a hard freeze soon.

I got a new flat bed scanner for negatives and slides. My old scanned would do 35mm but I have a lot of large format negatives so I dropped nearly $300 for the scanner. It does 16 slides at a time or two 120mm at a time. It also can do a 4x5" negative for the old speed graphic. Wonder piece of technology, it has a software package to get rid of dust by using scattered light to detect where the dust is.

I am still disappointed in the UK Duke game tuesday. I think the hand writing is on the wall, this team will not win UK's 9th title.

What brand and model? I'd like to purchase a similar scanner.

Good morning D-League

Nice day here. 70 degrees with a high of 84. We have that Gulf breeze that helps. Sunny. Coffee is good and strong.

Thanks for reminding me of the basketball game tonight. I had forgot about it. Maybe the Duke game just screwed up my excitement for this season. I hope not. But I am excited about tomorrow's football game and our chance to have a great season. Three games to go and we take them one at a time. BEAT TENNESSEE

Have a great day and I trust this day finds all well or on the way to recovery.

Afternoon to all D-Leaguers. Still adjusting to getting up at 4am with my wife so she can start a hospital shift. By noon it feels like I've been going a full day.

Trying to get my Mojo back for Cats sports after the dispiriting 96 hours between Saturday and Monday. Throw in county elections where I live in which the Communists beat the merely Socialists (and I'm barely exaggerating) and my good mood has been under assault. But I'll get up in the hills this weekend and everything will snap back into proper perspective. And soon enough: Thanksgiving. One of the few days a year I'm with my far-flung children and granddaughter.

For those that didn't know, but never wondered....

Why is the mascot for SIU a Saluki? The short answer is that because Southern Illinois is known as "Little Egypt" (dating back to 1818-1820), it was reasonable to find a mascot that represents that lineage; the Saluki is an Egyptian breed of hound (similar to a greyhound).

Why is southern Illinois called Egypt? The nickname "Egypt" may have arisen in the 1830s, when poor harvests in the north of the state drove people to Southern Illinois to buy grain. Others say it was because the land of the great Mississippi and Ohio River valleys were like that of Egypt's Nile delta.
