D-League

After 20 years in the Artillery, my hearing is not as good as it was but, not as bad as it could have turned out.
I first went to an ear nose throat specialist and told him my problem. We went through all the tests. They ask me if I worked in a steel mill. I told them that I worked in an office with piped in music.

They did not believe me. But after I told them that I managed a rock and roll band they started to understand.

Wrrrior-cat, a 1960's rock and roll band may be worse than artillery. We had tube type 500 watt Fender amps. :sunglasses:

It is 67 degrees right now. 67. Crisis

That was my wife today. We went out and she put on jeans and took a jacket

Evening D
Still giddy about that win
I don’t ever remember seeing anything like it

Happy Birthday @starchief5 . Hugs to you

I have hearing loss as well. Had mumps when I was 18...swelling was against the ear drums. Began a slow degeneration from there.

. . . . . . bull . . . . . it was the boy friends! :flushed:

Another Happy Birthday (belated) to starchief.

Good morning from ATX. Currently 57°F. Expecting highs in the mid-80s. Lovely weather. Boil water orders finally lifted yesterday. Huge relief.

UGA Bulldawgs coming to Lex next Saturday. Nice having a shot at the SEC championship.

I've got nothing else. Y'all behave.

Good morning all, 56 and lovely in beautiful SWFL. Yesterday was a picture perfect day. I keep watching the highlights from that game, and STILL can't believe we won that thing. Mercy!

This Georgia game will be the toughest football ticket, maybe in our history. Wish I could go to it. But my sons will be there. Hope everyone has a great day, hope all that are feeling ill get better. Will check in later. GO CATS!

  • Good morning D-League on this beautiful Monday morning.
  • Current temp is 56 with lots of sunshine and a 10 mph breeze off of the Gulf of Mexico
  • My wardrobe consists of shorts and polo shirts with very few dress clothes. So I will tough out this chilly weather barefoot like Jimmy Buffett
  • Still celebrating our zero seconds left on the scoreboard win at Missouri. That doesn't happen every day
  • There is something about sitting in a chill outside drinking your coffee that makes it even better than it is
  • I need to warm this cup up a little bit.
  • So today I go to the dentist for a routine check up. At my age I am proud to have teeth. .
  • This week will be all talk about Georgia - UK in Lexington. We will be huge under dogs and some of the media will say we do not belong They will show little respect for our offense. We may get a few props on our defense. But no one will give us a shot at winning. But I know the D-League "Believes"
  • The buzzards found a washed up fish in the lake behind the house. And they enjoyed. Buzzards are protected by the state and it is unlawful to harm one. They keep things nice and clean.

Good Day D- Leaguers. Yes UK is being shafted by the press as usually. So we play on our on field , full House Mid afternoon game, Hope for good weather. I'm still pissed about TA&M.
Coach Stoops is a man of his word. You can tell a huge improvement in the group of coaches. UK's Defense is one of the best not only in the SEC but.the whole nation. Awesome improvement .WE keep winning and we are going to raise our 2018-19 Season Recruits. On On U of K we are Right for the fight today. Go Bib Blue . Wildcat Nation catch the wildcat fever!

OK, assuming you're referring to vultures, were they turkey vultures . . .

or black vultures?

Just me being curious.
Turkey vultures. A few minutes after I took this photo they started coming from everywhere and I counted in excess of 20 total. Each would step up and take a turn. Peck a little meat off the bone and step back. This went on for a day and a half.

What was that Sawnee, a catfish?
This is the closest I got to it and I thought it was a catfish. I wanted the buzzards to go to work because of the smell. We have large mouth bass in the lake also as well as a few smaller fish.

One of the neatest things I have seen occurred a couple of years ago. I was sitting next to the pool facing the lake (west) when a huge bald eagle fly over about 2 feet above my pool screen went straight into the lake and took out a nice sized bass. He went straight up and turned left then dropped the bass on the ground. It had huge claw marks in its back and side and only lived a little while after it was dropped by the eagle. Turkey buzzards had a feast on that one too. I have some photos of that somewhere on my cell phone.

I had two bald eagles nesting in a big tree behind my house for 5 previous years. But last year Hurricane Irma destroyed their nest and they never rebuilt here. I really miss them, used to love to watch them pluck fish out of our pond and feed their young'uns

They really are a pleasure to watch. These are nesting about 10 miles from here in the Weeki Wachee Wildlife Preserve on the river and I only see them every once in awhile. We also have some nice hawks that fly over the lake but they feast off of the squirrels and I haven't seen them go after a fish. Today was interesting. I heard a screeching crazy sounding noise and over on the island were the Sandhill Cranes in full blown courtship with their wings flapping and dancing routines. Never a dull moment when you live next to a wildlife preserve
