D-League

You guys can hear.

I have screwed up hearing and while I have surround sound I don't hear half of the frequencies. My son ever year or so adjusts the surround sound setting with the little thing that came with it. He asks me all sorts of questions of which way I want it and I tell him it all sounds the same.

Same with me. Twelve years on an International Harvester assembly line and forge shop (no one wore ear protection, safety glasses or hard hats those days) will do that to you.

I listen to tv through headphones. Otherwise I have to have the volume so high it disturbs others. Wife and I watch tv in separate rooms since we never watch the same programs.

I listen to music through Beats Pro headphones and they are great. I like to listen to music with "punch" (I can't hear the high frequencies naturally). The Beats Pros provide that punch.

Boy, don't I feel your pain! Over 30 years blowing a locomotive whistle. Just thinking about that, could you imagine how many crossings I blew that whistle at? Of course, the company decided to make us wear hearing protection after we were all deaf :joy:

Welp, starchief reached 75 years today, rejoining the high seniority guys in here. Born in a shack in a coal mining camp in the hills of Bell County. 75 years! I never remotely imagined when I was younger that I would be around this long. What is amazing to me is that, while living a "that's gonna kill you" lifestyle healthwise, I am a paragon of health compared to some of the guys on here. And I am truly grateful for my "luck." Go figure.

My daughter said, "Happy birthday, Dad. You're the best dad in the world." I said, "Well, maybe not the whole world." Then she said, "Well, you're above average." :flushed: That's good enough for me.

We lucked out that game. Well, for the last part, our defense kept us in the game to give us a chance. After not making the 4th and goal, I stepped out in to the back yard with my dogs figuring it was over. Came back in a few minutes later to see it was 14-9 and decided we still had a shot. Could not sit down and was pacing the floor. Dogs were keeping their distance. 7 -1, I will take it.
A strong defense usually rules when things get hot

And never too many dang Hosses!
Both of my two favorite teams won yesterday...Wake and UK
Life is good..
Mine 2 . . . Cats beat Tigers . . . Devils beat Trojans

Peace & Amen.

After 20 years in the Artillery, my hearing is not as good as it was but, not as bad as it could have turned out.

My wife made us coffee this morning. Sure is good when she makes it. Of course, it's good when I make it too. It's good when I get it at the gas station and it's good when I get it at the golf course. I think I see a trend.

I cooked us some breakfast. Homemade sausage and eggs. The eggs were store bought. That might be all I do today.
Scrambled eggs and thick bacon for me and my daughter this morning. Laying around rest of the day, have to go in to work tonight at 9:30 pm to set up system for manifesting a flight for deploying troops. Doing what is called a PHA (Personnel Holding Area) doing the job of the TSA because the small airport here is not big enough to handle it. Will not be finished until about 0100 am and home about 0130am. Must be back at work in the passenger travel office at 0715am because the other passport agent is on vacation. Long day tomorrow.

Happy Birthday, Grasshopper.

  • Good morning D-League from one happy Cat fan to another
  • Current temp is 52 degrees with a high today of 74.
  • Sunday Morning Coming Down as the Florida sunshine peaks through the clouds
  • The coffee could not taste better after the celebration of a big and I mean huge win.
  • Our football Cats offense woke up with about a minute to go to bring home the victory. But the day belonged to our defense. If there is a better one in college football I want to see it.
  • As expected Georgia took care of Florida so that sets up a week of excitement and anticipation.
  • Georgia is coming to Lexington for the big show down.
  • As I attend church today I will have another reason to be thankful for life and good times. It sure feels good to root for a winner in football.
  • Here comes that "Wildcat Special rolling through that Georgia Line"

I worked for the P&LRR after ICGRR sold the Paducah shops and the short-llne from Paducah to Louisville

  • Good Afternoon, D-Leagueanites, Wildcats and Lurkers.
  • 66º in Johns Creek. We started at 46º this morning, so we are good right now.
  • 3rd mug of Dark Magic going down. Good stuff.
  • Lola is getting a bath. Compliments of QB & #4.
  • 7-1. What a game! I have seen a lot of those, mostly the wrong way. Our defense was stellar again. No 1st downs allowed the 2nd half. Lynn Bowden!!! Superman!!! Happy for Terry and C.J. Conrad. What a blocker he is!!! Georgia Saturday at 3:30.
  • Hope you ailers feel better.
  • Have a nice Sunday.
  • Carry on.

That's best. My room is 16'w x 26'l rectangle with center array, LFE(SVS), stage R & stage L along dedicated 16' wall, Rs, Ls, & Rb, Lb. Similar to the diagram. Dolby Pro Logic IIx for 7.1 TV & DVD movies. DTS discreet 8-ch analog for Blu-ray. Fun stuff.

I've got the same set-up with a 16 X 22 room. Only 6.1 though. In addition to video I also play multi-channel SACDs. Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon is mind blowing.

Hey happy birthday Chief! And many more!!!

This is so true. We could get every break in the next 100 games and still not break even with the heart break I have suffered over the years following the Cats. And I go back to Bear Bryant. Feels good to pull one out with 000 on the clock

Sawnee Cat, your prayers were answered. We need more WildCats like you! :sunglasses:

starchief, you are my hearing brother.

My hearing loss happened because of allergies and working in a rock and roll band in the 1960's.

I hope you have a better reason. :grimace:

Happy Birthday you old goat.

I bet you are close to being the best dad on earth.

Of course, you will come in second to the 72 years old who typed this post.
