D-League

Howdy D! Dad and I had a good time today. Ate lunch at a place called Danny Mac's on Melrose next to an antique mall that we go to from time to time. Both had Philly cheesesteaks. I ate mine and half of his. Tuesday we plan on taking a big excursion through Bardstown on our way to a piddler mall in Danville. Should be an all-dayer.

California is like a health food cereal. Take out the nuts and fruits and all you have left are the flakes.

Happy Birthday Ghost! I think you're the same age as Austin, UK82, and me.

I don't know if anyone has extended the courtesy, but, welcome to the D!

Please forgive my ignorance, but what is the D league? I'm a long time reader of the forums here but rarely post anything, so I'm not as familiar as most regulars.

The D league is where you are now. It's this thread. It's an oasis off the beaten path of the topical threads. It's an ongoing chronicle of our lives including lamentations of our past and aspirations for our future.

You can join us in our daily back and forth or just check in from time to time. Up to you but you are more than welcome to do either.

Great description, Ymmot. The D-League is about 10 years old.

  • Good Morning, D-Leagueanites and Lurkers.
  • 68º in Johns Creek. Perfect blue sky morning. We've had several in a row.
  • The Dark Magic is very tasty this morning. 1st mug going. Keurig system. Always fresh. Expensive, but worth it.
  • Ate breakfast yesterday at a different spot. Everything was pretty good except the coffee. It tasted burned. I couldn't drink it.
  • Welcome to the D-League, Beast Johnson. Have fun posting. Just jump in and post what you want to talk about.
  • Is this the last day of Summer, or the 1st day of Fall.
  • Hope you ailing ones feel better very soon.
  • Watch out for the IDMOs today driving. They are everywhere.
  • Carry on.

Good morning D-League
Currently 74°F. Clear and stars are beautiful this time of day
High of 91°F.

I am leaving for Kentucky at 6:00, wife's family reunion. Be gone a week. Hope it stays warm up there while I am in town.

Miss State vs Cats tomorrow and I expect victory. Drive safely and defensively. Headed North and crossing that Georgia-Florida line. I wish I still had my 56 Ford. Bye everybody

I was a drag racer back in the day. I raced a black '61 Chevy convertible, 283. Column shift. A '56 Ford, much like that one, beat me in the finals one day. Got me right at the end. G-Stock.

It is an oasis of (mostly) UK fans where one can talk about matters relevant or totally irrelevant. Just as long as one can do this without getting riled up or insulting about it. It is a place where one's age, gender, race, education or status in life is not important.

Taking the day off today after my trip and going fishing again (weather permitting). It was supposed to rain hard last night and today but so far nothing. If it is light rain the Bass are in trouble because it is only supposed to get up to 74° today and that means a longer time on the prowl.

I am praying for those poor fish!

Be careful. There are my family members driving around and they are a true danger!

Sounds good Starchief5, I like the more casual side to the forums rather than all the arguing, insults, and anxiety. That's probably the reason my post count is so low compared to the time I've been reading these message boards.

You all have a safe, enjoyable day out there.....

75° and not quite as humid as the last few days, but cloudy. I must mow today.

Safe travels to Sawnee Cat. I once had I-75 memorized from the I-10 junction to the I-64 junction (Suwannee River to the Kentucky River). One long haul.
I used to make that drive a lot. Once in the late 1970s when I was maybe 19 I picked up a guy hitchhiking right where I-75 went past Gainesville. I'd driven down there on a whim to see a girl and didn't look forward to driving back alone. This guy was probably early 40s, but seemed ancient to me.

He had two huge suitcases. From the looks of him, the material goods he'd accumulated in a lifetime were contained inside them. We started talking, and he told stories about living more or less as a hobo working odd jobs through the south as we drove through the night, through north Florida, up past Valdosta and Macon. He fell asleep near Atlanta and stayed out until we hit Tennessee. I was staying awake popping NoDoz or maybe something stronger. He'd told me he was getting out at Knoxville, so I woke him in time. He thanked me and was on his way.

I was nearly to Lexington before it hit me -- those two suitcases were still in the back.
I drove all the way back to Knoxville just in case he was hanging around where I dropped him off, but of course he was long gone. I looked through the stuff in case there was something really valuable, but it was mostly just old clothes. I couldn't think of anything else to do, so I left the suitcases concealed from the road but where you could see them in you walked by. But I know he never came back for them. I still feel a little bad about it.

Honest, it was cloudy when I wrote this. I waited until I thought that the neighbors would be up and rushed out to edge and mow. I went outside to a big blue sky with a good breeze and just a wonderful day. The only cloud I saw after going out was one high cirrus cloud.

Please accept my apology for my previous lie.

Now that right there is funny. [roll]

I meant it won't roll around when I don't want it to roll around. Prolly still be hard to roll though.

I got the doors made today for the center compartment and have the hinges installed in the doors. I got called away today before I could mount them but I think I need to start fresh for that endeavor. I also modified the legs of the cooker today and it now sits nicely in its drawer. Getting very close now.

Must get her running again. Will start next month.
