How many of you have been in this saloon? It was actually a court room but when court was not in session they turned it into a saloon.

I've been in two different bars out in the country in Tennessee that were built out of cinder blocks with a concrete floor and concrete bar. Both of them started life as a wooden structure and both had been rebuilt several times due to fire. Never was in either after the sun went down.

Simpler, absolutely. Easier, Absolutely not.
You bet.

My father, Edd Higginbotham, was born in 1902. 42 years before the first available antibiotic. His first wife and my half-brother died of TB. He survived WWI and WWII. He survived prohibition which put his father out of work as the Higginbotham's made whiskey. He made a living, first at the railroad, and then during the depression on the farm.

The only thing that kept my father going was his strong work ethic and his strong belief in God. He was a good Baptist Deacon even though the church kicked his father out of the church because he made whiskey.

Life is not fair; however, life in the last 50 years has been a cake walk compared to the previous 50 years.

If only your father had known he could get by with just one d. This is the info the internet has provided us.

Yes. Dad's name was Edward. He always signed everything as Edd.

Things were still complex 110 years ago.

It is sort of stupid as he was my father; however, I have never known a better human being. I never heard him say a nasty word. He simply would not do it. He had all sorts of short cuts to fill in to substitute for a bad word. Heck he would not even say 'darn'. It was too close to damn.

Both sets of my grand parents were like that.

I went to his concert in Jacksonville, FL. His performance was exactly like the records.

I told her the other night that I would much rather go see a tribute band like the Queen Extravaganza than to see some seventy year old singer from the sixties try to hit the notes. Or more succinctly, take advantage of my memory and rip me off.

A band that sounds the same live as they do on the album is a rare treat.

We had a work conference today at the Newseum, the news museum in DC. I've been there before - some pretty cool artifacts, a twenty foot section of the Berlin Wall, Ted Kaszinski's cabin, a bullet riddled truck used by journalists in Bosnia, and the huge antenna that was on the top of the World Trade Center on 9/11. The conference was unmitigated tedium but I enjoy seeing the exhibits.

The summer monsoon appears to be ending on Annapurna. The forecast is for 60 inches of snow on Friday but after that just 3 to 5 inches per day. Temperatures remain mild at zero or slightly below at the summit. Avalanche conditions remain hazardous.

The season on Marco Polo sheep throughout the Himalaya will end this month as temperatures drop.

Let's hope the Cats can pull one out Saturday night.

I bought 4 more wheels today. That will be 8 wheels and each is rated for 125lbs. The table will feel like a thousand pounds when we carry it to the patio, but it won't weigh that much. I'm thinking about 250 without the eggs and about 400 with them.

A large egg weighs 162lbs and a medium weighs 114. Total with the 40lbs of stainless steel and the two burner cast iron stove will easily top 500lbs. Guess I might have to add a trailer hitch to it as well if I intend to move it.

Taking the day off today after my trip and going fishing again (weather permitting). It was supposed to rain hard last night and today but so far nothing. If it is light rain the Bass are in trouble because it is only supposed to get up to 74° today and that means a longer time on the prowl.

Good morning D-League
Currently 74°F. Clear and stars are beautiful this time of day
High of 91°F.

I am leaving for Kentucky at 6:00, wife's family reunion. Be gone a week. Hope it stays warm up there while I am in town.

Miss State vs Cats tomorrow and I expect victory. Drive safely and defensively. Headed North and crossing that Georgia-Florida line. I wish I still had my 56 Ford. Bye everybody

Good morning all, HUMID out here this morning. Going to spend a little time at the pool today. I miss going to the high school football games in our town in Ky on Friday nights. Even though the high school game is so much better here, it's just not the same.

Seems everywhere I drive the roads are under construction of some type, aggrevating. Any of Y'all going to the game tomorrow night? I do miss going to the games. We have had season tickets for decades in my family, the sons go now. Everyone not feeling good, hope you get better. everyone traveling this weekend be careful and have a safe trip
