D-League

I think we should have pre-exhibition games this weekend as a run up to the Bahamas. Is that just me?

  • Good Morning, D-Leagueanites.
  • 2nd mug of Dark Magic going.
  • 70º in Johns Creek. Coming to you live Still gloomy but a little better.
  • @SawneeCat: The guy at Columbia's was named Smitty and not Slim. My CRS took over there. Thank you, Rooster. Apologies to everyone for misremembering that.
  • In addition to Columbia's we used to enjoy Hall's and that beer cheese and fried banana peppers. Long drive but worth it. Dang that road out of Lexington was so crooked.
  • 5 days.
  • Go Big Black.
  • TGIF at last.
  • Have a very nice safe day.
  • As you were. Carry on.

Ah yes, Don, Hall's on the river. That was my first introduction to beer cheese. Now I am addicted. I am growing some fine banana peppers this year and fry a mess up every night. Sweet memories of time long gone.

  • Hello and a good morning, D-Leaguers
  • enjoying my third cup of coffee on the lanai.
  • 72º in my neck of the woods and bright sunshine.
  • We had almost 3 inches of rain at my house yesterday so everything is sparkling green
  • I fertilized my citrus trees yesterday so the soaking did them good. The tangerine tree is loaded
  • The news said this is the second dampest year on record.
  • Headed to the lab for some routine blood tests before my annual check up next week.
  • I will take a day trip to St Augustine tomorrow and enjoy a little bit of history now that the tourists are headed back North. School is about to start which means the beaches and parks will be available for us natives.
  • The Big Black will tip it off in a few days. I am pumped.

Good Friday D.

Porch. Coffee. Foggy.

Mowing today. 6 yards. Hope to get all done before dark. We shall see. Daughter weed eating. That sounds tremendous. I hate it. I used round up around my house. Made my bead too wide but still don’t mind.

My to do list took a big hit this week of not getting whittled down.

4 more week days of freedom.

Be safe all.

I've had pet squirrels they're fun.
Or get you an intentional one. Flea packing bushy tailed tree rats. Yeah tame. They'll habituate, lose fear, accept your food then bite you the first time they get pissed. It's life within the squirrel nation. Tame . . . nope.

Probably true. But I love them. God perfected them.

Good morning! Only 7 hours sleep last night but I guess that was all I needed.

Have to mow today. Weed eat too.

I'll be leaving soon to get Dad. He's been in a good mood lately. I think it has freed up his mind to not have to worry about my mother all the time.

May I say that ymmot loves his dad.

I love ymmot, so nothing counts. Sorry.:sunglasses:

OK, I got home at 1300 and went straight into yard beast mode. Took my first break at 1630 and finished up at 1700. Still got a couple of odds and ends to clean up tomorrow but for the most part I'm done. All the shrubs and bushes are trimmed again and all the waste has been raked up. All the weed eating is done plus a little extra because I was determined to beat that evil bitch. I ran it down until it couldn't turn any more. Grass is mowed front and back and sidewalk and driveway have been swept. Truth: used the leaf blower to sweep the driveway.

I am no longer the high bidder on the turntable and the price has gone up to at least $22. Guess I'll let that one go and try and get one that I can see and inspect in person.

Edit: just went and looked the minimum bid is now up to $42. Guess the guys who know this stuff must recognize the cartridge and stylus as spendy. Oh well.

There are plenty of deals to be found. You might want to check out Magnetic Tape and Recorder on Baxter. You won't find any steals but they've been restoring vintage turntables for decades and usually with a new cartridge. I've been going there for years because they're one of the few places that can work on vintage components like tube gear. The owner retired a few years ago and handed the business down to a young man (maybe grandson) that really knows his stuff. Worth a visit just for nostalgia sake. You won't find a turntable for 20 bucks but at least it'll be in top working condition and they back all they're products.

Ymmot I've got a Technics SL-220 turntable you can have if you want it. It's been stored in an old freezer (non working) for the past 20 years so I have no idea what kind of working condition it's in. It worked fine at the time. The belt may need replacing. It's an entry level model but the cartridge should be fine, maybe. If you're interested I'll give it a test run.

Wow! Thanks bud! Let me know when it's convenient and I can bust over to Louisville anytime. I only have one album at the moment but the reason I want a turntable is I see all kinds of albums all the time at the piddler malls. Some of them aren't worth a buck but there are many with no visible signs of abuse.

Great! I'll hook it up just to see if it's working first. Are you still looking for a headphone amp? I can give you a Project Head Box S too. I've been holding both of these for a friend but I'm tired of waiting. 2 years is long enough.

Dang man, I don't know what to say. I was just looking at headphone amps a couple of nights ago.

My wife wants to know if you have any jewelry, gold and diamonds, that you want to get rid of. That was kind of funny, but it got much better when she mentioned "antique diamonds".
