Confirmed: Drew's family visited Lexington today

Those of you who inexplicably hate Scott Drew...without him ever coaching a single game here...just go ahead and check out. Find yourselves another team to cheer for. There's one down the road in Lewisville that you might like. But, please let us fans of the program carry on without all the pi$$ing and moaning. It' virtually the same post over and over and over with you people. Many of which are relatively new accounts BTW.

So, if the choice is Drew, either get on board with supporting the Cats or GTFO.

Mitch sucks. Most vanilla hire possible, and now we’re going from a coach whose priority was developing NBA players over winning college basketball games, to a coach whose priority is preaching instead of winning college basketball games.

Sad thing is Mitch is so vanilla and predictable we all saw it coming. How does the most passionate fanbase in CBB get stuck with this boring ass AD??
You mean the guy voted AD of the year a few years ago? I guess we were just lucky . Funny how today, Character is very threatening thing.

What does that matter when he's had top 3 classes? He won a title. So now it will all change because he's at Kentucky. I hope but the portal and parity suggest otherwise. Bama was just in the FF and ran into the buzz saw that is Uconn. Their 1st time ever. I mean he was landing guys like Edgecomb but hasn't sniffed the 2nd weekend since the Covid year.

The reason it matters is elementary. It shouldn't need to be explained to you, much less repeatedly day after day.

Baylor was not an elite, basketball school. Hadnt won a title since the 40s iirc. Hadnt done much in modern times AT ALL. It was bottom tier of the big 12 conference. Without the following, student body, fanbase, and profile of UK that has changed and they've won a national title under SDrew.

If you think that he couldn't do better here than he's done at Baylor with the resources he WOULD HAVE HERE, I'd have to question your sanity and reasoning, and definitely have to stop bothering to talk with you as there would be no point.

Likewise if you think that he wouldn't have done more with the players Cal had on his rosters in terms of development, utilization, substitution and coaching. That's just not someone willing to reason because of some other bias they may have. I got no time for that ignorant nonsense.

Drew record vs KU which I would think matters to our fanbase and is a good measuring stick especially when you know them and play a lot, 8-29.

Yeah but All he's got to do IF he's the coach is win. Just win baby and the rest will take care of itself. I really hope he completely understands exactly what he's getting into. This job can make you a legend or break you. We shall see what it makes Scott Drew.

"Yeah" of course. The person I responded to is saying that's not acceptable if he is so religious, regardless of whether or not he wins. You don't tell someone to put a lid on it, if winning is really all that matters

Wow, somebody blew a gasket. Drew isn't my choice but I'm gonna hope for the best since he's Barnharts only choice. All he has to do is win, that's what he accepts by taking this job so let's roll with him... BUT, if the mediocre results happen, you can bet your ass he will get heat and quick.
Other than that, welcome Scott Drew, the new head coach of our Kentucky Wildcats.

As a matter of fact, yes I do. Any other questions?

“Everything we do around the program is Christ-centered," he told CBN News. "The great thing is we can prepare champions for life. And that's a spiritual, academic, and character formation in athletics. So for us to be able to incorporate the spiritual part has been so key and paramount to all our success and He's blessed us."

Drew told RFI that seeing players accept Christ is "more exciting" than winning any game.

"Seeing the spiritual growth guys. Players who accept Christ, players who maybe prayed for the first time with the team, players who get baptized, players who come back and get Bible studies and go to church and you know that's what really exciting," he expressed.”

Bud we just got rid of the worlds greatest TV Evangelist. Did you see his PC just now. Shocked he didn’t bring a few lame guys up to heal them!

If Drew says yes we should all feel lucky. After missing on your top three this is clearly the best option available

It's always been drew. He literally turned down some good coaching opportunities waiting on this. Mitch wasn't going to spurn him unless Hurley said yes, which was never happening.

A man would not sent his wife to check out the next home unless he was serious on the move. So now we know tha Mitch went for the safe choice and didn’t even offer anyone else.

I think it would be cool to go down and see his press conference. I've not ever done something like that.

Pretty fricken epic rant from someone who has literally been calling our coach every name in the book and calling anyone who said anything about him that wasn’t pure vitriol a nut hugger.

You must have some serious narcissistic tendencies to do both of those 😂

That money was already budgeted for Cal salary so a very safe choice for Mitch that doesn’t even require Board approval since it is already in the approved budget would be to give him around what was paying Cal.

Circular reasoning and responses don't cut it with me.

When your general points are refuted directly, you resort to individual stats and ignore the collective. When your individual stats are offset by the collective body of work at an inferior program, you just restart the same cycle.

If you don't think him having the advantages of UK would make a positive (and likely huge) difference in his 8-29 record against Kansas, you are ignoring history and common sense., and I question if you're even a UK fan at all.

He might have been Barnhart's only option, unless Mitch wanted to dip to the next tier. None of us know what Donovan, Hurley or Oats had to say about it all. Donovan likely doesn't want to be near the college scene and all its lunacy with the NIL and yearly transfers by half the players. Donovan was about building a system and continuity when he was at Florida, but you almost can't do that anymore.

Hurley already has his system in place up there, and I imagine it's a hell of a lot of fun to be able to say that you've won consecutive NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS and are primed for a third. From what people here have said, and from what I know about the NE area having lived there, I imagine he doesn't want to live in the south at this point.

Oats has a pretty good thing going on at Alabama, and he probably didn't want the controversies there over the past year or so to be hung over his head while visiting UK, and likely doesn't want to start all over again.

The tail number tells you who is in the plane?
From my understanding if the owner of a plane (or maybe the passengers?) want the privacy of not being trackable, then the average citizen won't know the whereabouts of the plane. Otherwise, the tail number can be used in research to arrive at the roster of people who are on the plane.

Let me guess, next line is he has to pray on it.
Bro you’re going to be a very happy guy soon.

With Drew you’re getting a top 5-10 team to begin next season; possibly Reed back (and he’ll be given the team), a guy that utilizes athleticism AND skills, where guys like Perry will be utilized fully.

You’re probably getting VJ, and he goes for the portal and doesn’t sit around waiting like that dope clown Calipari.

You’re getting a guy who will have respect for this program and fanbase. His players are taught to respect where they are, not where they’re going.

The UK name is going to elevate this guy. He was already beating Duke and UK on the recruiting trail from little bullshit Baylor. He just needs the right program and the sky is the limit.

I think we’ve got him and although I can see you don’t like it, be glad others saw it when you didn’t.

By the way, I can tell you this, John Calipari isn’t going to be excited about Drew here. He will out recruit him for many guys and he’s 10 times the coach. Calipari probably won’t be able to beat us next year because of Drew. With the other candidates especially Donovan, Cal was gonna toy with us. Not now.

Wake up yall.

Wait, what top 3 did we miss on? Obviously Hurley, but good luck convincing the top coach in the country who is at a big school and defending back-to-back titles to change schools, no matter what school. If he loses on Monday night, I would be good money he is UK's coach right now. I also think he wants the NBA eventually, so that plays a factor.

Beyond Hurley, who else? The Donovan timing made it impossible, unless we wanted to wait for a while, which would be a huge risk. Oats we could have had, but Bama wasn't willing to negotiate his buyout -- he simply wasn't worth an extra $18 million (insane contract for him to sign, but maybe we still regret not paying).

Aw. You spit out your mommas milk! Bless your little heart.

So you got nothin. Love it when it gets to this point and people with no reason have no more fallacies and misdirection left to spew.
I gave you facts and that wasn't enough. Some people just like to argue. You can't talk stupid out of people so I'm done. What's the point now? I have my opinion you have yous and we won't know for awhile. Difference I gather from interacting with you is I hope I'm wrong and it's not about me and being right. I just want to win. Good day sir.

IF he takes the job, I'll be right there supporting him. I want him to succeed here and win conference titles and deep runs in the dance. I'll be his biggest fan, all he has to do is win...BUT if he fails and we see mediocre results then I'll be the first to say I told you so, he's over his head here. I hope he kills it, and it's fun times. As I said earlier, this job will make him a legend or break him. Gonna be interesting to see how this transpires.

This is the job Drew has wanted, he turned down some really good offers for it. It’s another thing people don’t realize, he could have been no telling how many places and stayed.

He’s a man who wants the best and knows what he wants. His first TWO orders of business in Kentucky?

Turning Louisville down
Saying yes to Kentucky.

Yeah we need to stop this “missed on our top 3” bullshit right now.

How can the tail numbers tell you who was on the plane? Unless the owner of those tail numbers tells you or someone videos them getting on or off the plane? If you are talking about FAA reports where passengers are reported, have you or anyone on here seen that?

Drew's definitely not the only option, but timing is important as well (even though I don't think that factored into offering Drew this early). I don't know why MB hasn't wanted to hire Donovan. No idea what the disconnect is there. It's more than weird

I don't think MB ever enters a situation where he doesn't already know who HE wants or certain of HIS boosters want and doesn't go after them the hardest. I'm thinking the other names are just for show and they're never really offered the job he's filling. I think he wanted Brooks and Stoops from early on. Same for BCG, Cal, and now, I guess, Drew.

It's disappointing not because I don't think Drew could do better here than at Baylor, and better than Cal could do with the same level of talent, but because we are not really trying to land someone who is already an even better prospect that has handled a bigger program and spotlight. It's as disappointing to me as when Tubby and Joker wouldn't even bother to offer much less try to sign the 5 star guys.

Hey I hope your right. It's not about me being right I just want Kentucky to get it right. When he's hired I will give him a chance

Look man when he's hired I will fall in line and cheer my ass ooff.i just think it's a bad fit, we are Kentucky and should get the pie in the sky hire. This feels safe and a buddy hire without real effort. If I'm wrong I will be thrilled, I promise.

The issue is (and I’m someone who would have probably called Donovan first), Kentucky doesn’t need to wait to win. Calipari is going to be running for us as is the rest of the SEC. We’ve already slipped enough for 5 years under the clown, we can’t continue to do so. We have to win now, and that is what Drew is going to bring.

We will win immediately and if UK gives Drew the elevation factor, he’ll be the best hire. Mitch is betting that this is the best short term hire (which we absolutely need right now) and will turn into a better long term hire once he’s elevated by the job. He’s also younger than Donovan.

Hurley
Oats
Pearl

These guys were never coming here. It was either Drew or Billy, and Billy had his chances. Drew just fits better even though I couldn’t help myself, I’d have hired Billy. But I am glad we’re not at the same time.

Can’t wait to see him tell Reed Sheppard the team is his, come on back.
