He wasn’t good last season but Stoops plays into that also. Who wants to be an OC under Stoops at KY?
Eddie granI’ve already prepared myself for a crap ton of Wildcat formation.
He honestly didn’t have a choice. It’s the only reasonable offense he’d had in his decade plus. And he’s big on building offensive narrative more than a reality. He had to throw the sink at getting him backWas mistake ever bringing him back. Hope it won't be the same with Wolford.
Would be very funny if it ends up like Stoops/A&MMatt Jones says Coen has not accepted the job yet. It’s being worked on and likely but UK is still trying to keep him.
He also turned right around and bad mouthed him about leaving stoops without ever bringing up stoops trying to leave. Seems like he’s in a ‘help Vince’s narrative’ mode on it right now.Matt Jones says Coen has not accepted the job yet. It’s being worked on and likely but UK is still trying to keep him.
His boss just tried to leave 2 months agoEven still, lots of fans lining up to avoid blaming coen for anything at all. Just have to shake your head.
And a criminally underrated race track. Tampa Bay Downs is the only track I enjoy as much as keeneland. The track is banked in the turns and the ambulance drivers absolutely get after it, sometimes more entertaining than the race.In LC's defense, Tampa is easily as lovable as Lexington if not more. Cool city and area. Plus, it's got a lot of mid-western, Ohio valley folks, as opposed to the East coast of Florida which is basically all Yankees.
Weather is better.
I guess they could get stuck on terms but there is no fan base or board of trustees to revolt over the thought of him being hiredWould be very funny if it ends up like Stoops/A&M
Exactly. Coen should have ran an uptempo shot gun short passing game offense. That is what Leary excelled in at NC State. This may be a stupid take but why do offensive coordinators try to force their personnel into a certain type of offense and make that work. Why don’t they look at the personnel they have and build an offense based on their strengths instead of forcing them to fit into a certain system. This past season i saw a lot where coens offense was hard to grasp and that Leary struggled to pick up and understand aspects of it. To me if a qb and other players are struggling to understand certain aspects of the offensive that should be a problem
Yeah, I still stick by what I have been saying the whole medical situation was weird. I don’t know. Did him and stoops get into physical altercation so they separated them during games? Was Liam really serving some kind of “suspension” when they put him in the booth? Pure speculation. Could be many things but I’m still suspicious, I don’t care what they say.I don't know what, but something behind the scenes must have happened. Just a year ago he was talking about his family needing to plant roots somewhere and how he loved Lexington and how he was tired of putting them through moves. He had every tool here to be successful and be happy, yet at the first chance he got he was interviewing for any job he could. Whatever he's chasing, I hope he finds it.
I think they could pay one of us about $200,00 and we would yield better results.Good riddance to Coen.
#98 in total offense
#75 in 3rd down conv %
#118 in pace of play.
There are 20 guys out there that we could pay less than $1.1 million a year to yield those results
I don’t know about happening to the friendship but if I was hired by someone that asked for a 2 year commitment then the guy who asked me for it tried to leave after 1 year of it, it would render any promises I made to him irrelevantI will never root for him. He put UK in a bad situation not once but twice. He made an announcement he was going to be here a minimum of two years. I agree something happened with the friendship of him and Stoops but if you put my program in hot water twice…. You can go Fu@k yourself.

You probably have hit the nail on the head. I feel for the players he recruited or may have chosen to come to UK because of him, but it looks like he is gone and I hope Stoops and his group find a replacement who will be a better fit and lead the team to a more successful season. And I hope we have seen the last of Liam Coen.I'm glad he's gone, he took this job because he knew he could get it while waiting for his next pro job. he had no intentions of staying here, all the I want to put down roots and stay awhile was BS, just like I thought. It's the lying to keep people from questioning him that burn people, not the fact he left.
Who are the sheep in this metaphor… Fans concerned we’ll lose our quarterback? Uhh
I see that you know much more than Matt Jones, but you did make one tiny mistake. Coen wasn't the OC last year.Of Course you have Matt Jones, who knows NOTHING about football, saying on KSR this morning he doesn't blame Coen for last year because Leary didn't perform well.......Isn't that Coen's job? Leary did not in excel in what Coen wanted to do in scheme.....he should have adapted the offense.
His boss just tried to leave 2 months ago
You have made a point I've been thinking about this morning. He was pretty good while he was here, but nothing special. What has he actually done to garner the reputation he apparently has. Perhaps he simply talks a good game and impresses at that level. He may end up being a great coordinator, but up until now he has just been good. No better than many others. If it wasn't for the timing and the constant change of offenses, I would be confident Stoops can find someone as good. I think the timing hurts, and of course changing offenses every year never is a good thing.I know this will go over like a wet blanket on here but maybe Liam Coen just isn't that good? This is like his 4th move in 5 years. I think his reputation keeps him involved but I think the Bucs will find out he isn't the genius Matt Jones thinks he is.
I don't agree. If you are going to look for opportunities every year you don't give your word you will be here for 2 or 3 years, whatever Coen promised. If you give your word, you don't look around until you have fulfilled your promise.I wonder if this is an indictment of Vandagriff....maybe he saw him and is not a believer or maybe he's worried that we end up with another dud transfer and it will hurt his career.
Regardless, every single person here would take care of themself so all the Coen hating is pathetic hypocrisy.
Yeah, he shoud have said "I'm out of here if a pro job presents itself but would love fall back on this job."I don't agree. No, he just should have not made a promise. If you lie routinely then your character is not very good. Doing it associated with a job search doesn't make it any less objectionable.Yeah, he shoud have said "I'm out of here if a pro job presents itself but would love fall back on this job."
Maybe you don't look out for #1, most do and when it comes to a job, they will tell you what you want to hear. It's called life.
