CI Wrestling Thread #56

Vince has dropped the ball on so many guys, but how do you drop the ball on Cesaro? You can make Rikishi and Too Cool into stars, but not Cesaro? Just unbelievable to me.
What a lot of guys had back then was entrainment value/charisma and not necessarily the best “wrestlers” that you have today

Some of it is probably on Cesaro. Years ago, one of the sites said that Vince was going to be more open minded on him. That lead to Cesaro cutting a promo where he bungled one of his lines which was awkward to watch and he ended up buried afterward. Guy is like the WWE version of Dontaie Allen. There is something there though. He's not Brock of course, but there wasn't much to Brock either for years. He was just a fishy white, quiet, powerful sumbitch who was "unleashed" by Heyman on a weekly basis. I think Cesaro is a victim of constant gimmick changes.
Godfather/papa Shango/Kama
Fatu/rikishi
Bob/hardcore holly
Sometimes you can make the best of it

Either TK is gonna have to buy RoH to send a lot of his talent to work and keep TV less bloated or a lot of talent is gonna have to be cut.
Or he could just start treating Dark like a legitimate show instead of 90% squash matches where the losers are often not even contracted AEW wrestlers

Have heard the video game has a lot of $$$ sunk into it and isn’t very good
I think the game will be good. It’s the same guys who did the old N64 and PlayStation games, which everyone loves. The first time they showed it, the character models did look bad, but I think they fixed that and it’s cleaned up a lot.

It’s being reported this will lead to a match between Crazy Grandpa and McAfee at WrestleMania.

And Kenny Omega is leading the project on AEW’s side. As big of a gamer as he is, I doubt he’d knowingly let AEW’s first video game be a pile of shit.

Some people have great imaginations…

It's very likely that Cody Rhodes is still with AEW and that this is leading to the something different storyline he said he would be involved with in an interview a few months back.

What is also interesting is that Brian Cage is being held back from appearing on Dynamite, even though he has a new one year contract.
Could they be doing this as a way to bring him back with a new gimmick and look, to see him join Cody Rhodes as part of an outcast heel faction?

Many social media pages are talking like Cody Rhodes has signed with WWE but we are yet to be convinced, as there are too many Easter eggs that still tie him to AEW. Regardless to this, Cody has brought so much attention to his current free agent status, that it's only a good thing for him and AEW when he does eventually return!

We predict Cody will either return with a new heel faction at Revolution, likely to have Cage as his muscle or if Tony Khan's announcement is that he's bought ROH, that Cody Rhodes will turn up there as a monster heel and bring the attention to Tony Khan's new purchase!

Let's see!

TKs announcement is that he bought RoH. Cody walks out after the main event of revolution and claims the new revolution is about to begin. He has bought RoH and taking over. “I am wrestling royalty!!” Cody yells as he stands in the center of the ring over Hangman’s bloodied body from the fight with Cole. “And royalty always has an army with them”. Cody points toward the jumbo trons and the cameras cut to backstage. There’s an ambush! Talent is getting destroyed in the back. RoH is running shop, besting the shit outta anyone and everyone. After several minutes of backstage footage, camera comes back to the ring and Cody is now laughing while holding up the AEW World title. This… this is how he gets his world title shot now.

What?

I don’t even know what those two are going on about. I’m pretty sure they agree on the same thing.

Kane posted what could be taken as support of Putin. Page, along with X-Pac and others disagreed.

I'm torn on Cesaro. Never watched him in Indy so no back knowledge, but what did he ever really do in WWE? That can't all be due to poor gimmicks/character etc. Tons of guys have overcome bad booking and gimmicks. Cesaro seems to me just to be someone we wish/think should be a superstar but in reality just doesn't quite have it.
Cesaro is legitimately the full package but unfortunately WWE didn't care and I'm guessing that is because of the accent.

This is cool. I like this.

AEW finally announced shows on the West Coast.
The LA Forum for the Dynamite after Double of Nothing and then a live Rampage in the Bucks’ home of Ontario, California.
Also Detroit in June.

Hoping someday they come to Kentucky.

Anyone think there’s any truth that Khan bought ROH or at least their tape library.

I would pay some money, for a few months, to be able to easily watch some old ROH. So many classics in that library.

I know ROH has something out there, but not sure if it’s the full library. The few times Ive tried to use an independent wrestling streaming service I usually just end up annoyed with it.

I think I'd rather take thumb tacks than this.
