CI Wrestling Thread #56

Well AEW and TBS are already done lol. Worth it though Mox! Love having ya back!

I still truly believe they need to use their big guys more. I hate how little they get pushed. Archer did beat Mox for the IWGP US title, but he didn’t have it long before losing to Tanahashi. Also he’s one of 3 people to beat Mox in AEW, so that’s prestigious company. But Archer is good people and has come such a long way in his career. Put a title on him before he’s gone.

I forgot Archer did almost kill himself when he tried that moonsault against Eddy, so I’m sure that’s why he was gone for awhile.

Still think Lance Archer needs more airtime.
I think this whole Archer push is dumb. Dudes been gone for months and never been a main event type wrestler and he's getting an angle with the champ? Makes no ****ing sense and no one gives a shit about Lance Archer.

Kinda lends credence to Hangman being more of a transition champ. They would have someone like Omega as champ entering into a feud with Archer.

He was so over and a good enough wrestler that he deserved to win the title, but I don't really see him as a guy that can carry the company as your champ for long.

He did not just hang with BD for 90min in two weeks just to make him a transitional champ. I don’t see it.

I beg to differ. He's a Braun Strowman type monster heel who would get over much more very easily with more exposure.

Again, I beg to differ. If this reign is short, it will be because they are giving fans a taste so we care, but then are going to have Hangman in the sweet spot chasing the heel.

Worth a read if any of you have time…damn near broke into tears reading it. Brodie was an amazing man with a great story. Much like all of us.

  1. Dave Meltzer reported on F4WOnline's message board that AEW sources were mum on the topic so "either it’s true and they are all mad it’s out or it’s a work and they don’t want to lie to me," (h/t Cageside Seats).
Whatever the case may be, Rhodes' contractless status seems like a much bigger deal than the company is making it. Whether that means the current TNT champion moves on and looks to further establish his legacy in another promotion or sticks around with the one he helped create is the question.

Only saw bits and pieces of Dynamite due to the game, but Mox looked to be back in great shape. Solid promo too, I still think we get a heel turn soon but need to milk the crowd a little longer for it to make a big impact.

I really can't see Cody turning up anywhere but if it does happen then that would be insane.

He has such a presence on TNT now though...its hard for me to imagine him being somewhere else.

We keep acting like this is all Cody’s decision, but TK has to offer him a contract.

Cody and his clan are intertwined pretty deeply with AEW/TBS, the only way I see him leaving is if the Nightmare Factory and all wrestlers associated with it leave en masse to begin their own company.

So Zayn re-signed with wwe - guessing b/c KO did too

Also wwe denied Ali’s request to be released so guessing he’s gonna be doing catering or jobbing out now

anyone watch/listen to pat mcafee? a caller mentioned the royal rumble and aj hawk asked if that is why pat was getting into shape, insinuating pat was going to be an entrant, and pat said no but his face said "oh sh*t, I cant believe he just asked that... yea, that's why"

It's Thursday, you know what that means.

Dynamite was the number one show on cable in the 18-49 demo doing 1,032,000 viewers and a .44

Also beat Raw in the 18-49 demo .44 to .43

Cody would have a really good thing going if he would stop being a stubborn ass and just embrace being a heel. Hogan might have been the biggest babyface that ever existed and he even went heel. If Hogan can accept it, everyone else should be able to.

where's he going to go? he's been pretty much useless in AEW anyway... and I like him.

Man, Archer is way older than I thought. I'm kind of torn on him. I think if they're going to give a big guy a push, it should be Wardlow instead. Archer has a cool nickname and has Jake with him which is cool too. I guess we'll see where it goes.

With Archer’s age it makes it a now or never thing. He gets his push now or it’ll end up being too late. Wardlow has so much time ahead of him.
