CI Wrestling Thread #56

NIck Jackson has the 'Rona.

Tony Khan said in an interview today his "North American dream signing" will be debuting soon. Speculation on that one?

AEW Dynamite Premiere on TBS Preview for tonight.

AEW Champion Hangman Page vs. Bryan Danielson - Three Judges at Ringside in the event of a draw.
*AEW Tag Team Champions The Lucha Brothers vs. Jurassic Express.
*Jade Cargill vs. Ruby Soho to crown the first-ever TBS Champion.
*Malakai Black vs. Brian Pillman Jr.
*MJF in action

I hope it's fake but read Max Caster was one of the judges, was hoping for someone with a little wrestling history.
They have an important title match…and Caster is a judge?!

I thought it was dumb they had Jason Hervey for the clash in 88

Dream signing has to be bray/gargano/Hardy

While Brody king could be it - wasn’t it already announced he was signing?

I was going to bring up Yokozuna until I remembered he was actually American. And when he and Bret Hart wrestled at Mania the crowd started chanting USA and Bobby Heenan laughed at them because (per kayfabe) a Japanese guy wrestling a Canadian.
Yoko was defending our honor against Canada!

Gargano sounds like the most likely one of those to me. AEW could pick up Bray, but from TK's prior statements they didn't seem very interested. Hardy, IF they sign him, would have to show that he's been sober for some time and be subject to testing, and his non-compete is still months from expiring.

Ever since they took away HHH’s power and basically sh** on everything that he created in NXT I had this thought that I could see him turn up in AEW.

I always thought it was too dumb to express but after what they’ve done with NXT 2.0 and Regal and Road Dogg getting released I don’t think so anymore.

Uncle Dave thinks Gargano will show up on 1/26 during dynamite in Cleveland - guess it’s his hometown
It is his hometown, but it’s also Wardlow’s. I wouldn’t sign Gargano. He’s amazing, don’t get me wrong but it’s time to focus on some big meat. Wardlow is the future of the company, not Gargano. They have enough talent they need to use.
Also did I hear that Jade’s baby daddy is Brandon Phillips?

I thought they both looked bad.
I’m just glad they’re book ending the show with another instant classic from Hangman and BD with Lucha bros vs Jurassic express at the end. The tag match should be a banger too.

Unfortunately for Pillman he got a wrestle botch moment. Really thought Julia was joining Black.

I still think she will. Will Pac? Also was that a botch? I thought so too, but I don’t know what that pad was that was hanging off. Didn’t know if it was supposed to be a support for the top rope or what

I just don't understand the logic of this name change at all. People know him from football as Bronson Rechsteiner but everyone also knows him as Rick Steiner's son. When you're a legacy talent, you definitely need to go by the name. When NXT Rainbow was about to start, they said he was going to be Rex Steiner. That was perfect. It was a play on Rechsteiner plus gave him the Steiner name. Those idiots then at the last minute, screwed that up and gave him some mid 90's WWF cartoon gimmick name. How anyone thought Bron Breakker was good baffles me. I know it's a small thing to bitch about but this is ridiculous. It's almost like it was done as a rib.

I have no doubt that WWF (e) has the backing and potential to be the best product, especially with wrestling as a whole being down, but they're so far out of touch that it's a joke. I HATE AEW and will always stick with WWE if given the choice but they halfway do things right aside from giving jobs and/or tv time to a bunch of undeserving hacks. They just lack the know how at the top other than the select few that they go with being able to get themselves over.
What do you expect from a company that changed two wrestlers to Keith "Bearcat" Lee and Seth "Freakin" Rollins?

Man, these guys just make it look so natural and smooth. There’s no slowing down in transition from move to move. You go from the women’s match where you can see the obvious slow downs and letting up, to something like this that doesn’t have those moments of hesitation. They’re all on the same page and it shows.

I have said this before but Japanese wrestlers are probably not going to get over in America regardless of how good they are.
Depends on what the crowd is. They'll never get anywhere in WWE, many of those folks are just such casual fans that they probably couldn't tell you the name of a single wrestler outside of WWE unless it was a former WWE wrestler.

The Japanese got over in ROH. Hell, ROH had a whole event name Joe vs. Kobashi in what many consider one of the best, if not the best, indie match of all-time. It was named MAtch of the Year in 2005 by WON. ROH actually had three consecutive years winning Match of the Year featuring Japanese guys in every match. The AEW crowd popped for the Japanese that made guest appearances last year.

That was Kenta. Cincinnati lost their shit for Suzuki too. God I loved that. God this match is a banger!

See it before AEW takes it down. Fenix arm looks snapped in half. Makes me wonder if they made a last second pivot to have Jurassic Express win after this. Makes me wonder, especially after seeing the expressions on some of the wrestlers faces they showed to end the show. Some looked concerned and others confused.

Rewatched it on YT TV. That elbow is destroyed. It went completely backwards when he tried to catch the fall through the table. Praying for a speedy recovery for Ray. He’s one of the best in the world. Give Penta a good single run. He deserves it. Please Tony do NOT push Penta to the back of the line because of this.
