CI Wrestling Thread #56

Smackdown has been killing it tonight. I was even entertained by Liv and Zelina. Liv goes without saying but they brought some energy. Zelina looks like Tatanka with that hair though. I can’t believe I’m saying this because he’s an underrated worker and now he’s doing his best work but Iike comedy spot Otis better than Alpha Otis from an entertainment aspect.

WHAT?! chants are still the worst.
Agree 100% but that just goes to show how over Steve was back in the 90’s. Who else could get such a nonsensical thing that over to where it’s still being done 20 years later?

Thunder Rosa was the mystery opponent for Deonna Purrazzo and Jay White showed up at the end of the TNA Slammiversary Show. Interested what this might lead to.

With all this crossover going on I just don’t see how roh can sustain being in business - they pretty much have nothing outside of Jay lethal and briscoes.

I guess mickie James showed up so even nwa is involved with opening the forbidden doors.

AEW needs no more workers. WWE needs no more workers. Relying on debuts/one-off appearances to push the needle for ratings/interest is ultimately a band-aid. Develop talent, develop compelling feuds/angles/storylines, develop a following.

As for Jay White, if AEW can get him "on loan" from Impact pretty much on demand like the Good Brothers, does it really matter that he debuted in Impact? They can always bring him in if they want to expand the Bullet Club angle.

I haven't watched wrestling in years, but there used to be a little wrestling in the town I lived in. I was standing at a bar getting a beer. I'm only 5'9" and 170 pounds, so I'm kind of average size. This guy walked up to the bar and he was about 6"6" and must have weighed 300 pounds. He was a biker from one of the local clubs, so he looked kind of imposing. A guy waked up beside him that made him look like a child. It was the wrestler who called himself Giant or Plowboy Frasier. I must have looked like a midget in that crowd.

That's been a while because Plowboy Frazier died in 1992.

I guess my question was more about RoH getting in on this partnership stuff going on. If she is RoH, I guess they’re now involved with the “forbidden door” stuff now.
Ya idk what roh is doing - supposedly they are doing a women’s tournament so maybe it’s like wwe tournament and maybe can be anyone

they used to have a roh/njpw supercard of honor but didn’t this year

Those supercards were a lot of fun

It's not the nicest thing I've ever said but if one of Vince McMahon's family members is killed by a drunk driver on the way home from the PPV tonight, he needs to shut up about it. By making Jimmy Uso a champion 2 weeks after his 2nd drunk driving arrest in 2 years is disgusting and he should be ashamed of himself. He's not but he should be.

You gotta be kidding…well, I’m not surprised.

I'm sure @Col. Angus will disagree with me but the women's matches are really good now. That Charlotte-Ripley match was great. I quit watching wrestling for about 15 years because of Katie Vick. If you don't know what that is look it up but it was the Attitude Era taken too far. And I'm a hard person to offend. I don't know if it incrementally got better but whatever. I thought Trish Stratus sucked and maybe it's just that she had nobody to work with but it seemed like she would do a move, reset, do another move, reset and then do another move. Sasha Banks seems to do a move, do another move and then do another move. She is 1,000 time smoother in the ring than Trish ever was.

Charlotte is the GOAT and it’s not even debatable.

The fake “tough guy” shtick Becky does is so ridiculous. She’s never come close to putting on the best matches.
