CI Wrestling Thread #56

Charlotte is the GOAT and it’s not even debatable.

The fake “tough guy” shtick Becky does is so ridiculous. She’s never come close to putting on the best matches.
I mentioned in a post earlier that she probably isn't even in the top 5 workers but her character is great.

- Chelsea Green is working dates for both ROH and Impact but doesn’t have a contract with either company.

- Charlotte is absolutely not the goat. Top 5-10 for sure. Tessa Blanchard or Thunder Rosa are the best women’s wrestlers. Could even make a case for one of the Stardom girls.

- Peacock’s US numbers are so low that wwe is blocked US’s citizens from accessing the network with a VPN to try and make them subscribe to peacock instead.

If Vince really put a title on Jimmy after his umpteenth DUI then he’s sorry as hell. Especially when he fired Tenille Dashwood years ago because a self checkout machine didn’t scan one of her items while shopping and she was arrested for shoplifting (charges were dropped when they realized she wasn’t at fault). It’s truly amazing what you can get away with in wwe if you have the same blood as Dwayne or Roman.

What a great show. Main event was superb and Cena returns? Cena vs Reigns will be a great match at SummerSlam. Although, I think that's more of a WrestleMania match.

Not that I disagree with the take on Uso getting rewarded (although I think that has more to do with the storyline laid out as opposed to anything else) but the rest of the stuff is the type of shit you see verbatim from the snarkiest dirt sheet nerd on Twitter.

I know it's hip to shit on the top brand and try to hype up the "cool hipster brand" but gimme a break, dude. "Meltzer said six stars! BTE is like the greatest show ever."

Naming two people that a casual couldn't tell you who they are and claiming they're the best ever is hilarious.

I get your gimmick. It's just (pun intended) exhausting. It's like the goth kid in high school who thinks they're unique.

They already had Mania this year and I didn't have an issue but yes, I hate Peacock. The entire format is just crap.
I know Mania was in April. I believe I still had the Network for Mania. I wish they would just go back to that or at least partner with someone who knows what the are doing with streaming.

Great match though!

Dude I’m really glad that you love AEW and support them. I enjoy the hell out of AEW too but you place a ton of blame on WWE and Vince constantly yet AEW can do no wrong. Try to be a little objective . This isn’t a war and no company is ever going to come close to taking down WWE again but AEW is the perfect alternative to the WWE.

WWE puts on a good event and weirdos are in here talking about AEW with no basis lmao

Jim Cornette isn't gonna let his wife peg you for regurgitating his delusional takes

The mental gymnastics are weird

Bunch of geriatrics ranting about and hating shit they don't have to watch at all

Summerslam at Allegiant Stadium is being treated as the real WM sounds like

Cena v Reigns
Oldberg v Lashley
Rollins v Edge

so far
Yup since there’s fans for SS and weren’t for WM they are going all out - if they have a ton of matches hopefully they do 2 nights instead of 1

I'm sure @Col. Angus will disagree with me but the women's matches are really good now. That Charlotte-Ripley match was great. I quit watching wrestling for about 15 years because of Katie Vick. If you don't know what that is look it up but it was the Attitude Era taken too far. And I'm a hard person to offend. I don't know if it incrementally got better but whatever. I thought Trish Stratus sucked and maybe it's just that she had nobody to work with but it seemed like she would do a move, reset, do another move, reset and then do another move. Sasha Banks seems to do a move, do another move and then do another move. She is 1,000 time smoother in the ring than Trish ever was.
I was watching during the attitude era and I don't remember that at all. Maybe it's like PTSD and my mind had blocked it from my memories. Thanks for messing that up Glenn with 2 n's.

Katie Vick was in 2002 I believe. But yeah it was about the worst thing ever. I hadn't watched wrestling in a bit (busy in college) and happened to turn on Raw that night. Went a couple of years without watching again.

I haven’t heard anything, but that’s what I was figuring they’d do (have the two nights)

He is an AEW fan which is fine. They put on a great show. I'm not a Cornette fan.

The fact that you use whether or not a casual can identify a wrestler as your parameter for being the best wrestler is hilarious.

Also funny you keep bringing up Meltzer like that’s some sort of burn on me. I don’t listen to him or any observer show. I see tweets here and there. Ya know, It wasn’t but a few years ago I thought wwe and US wrestling was the only thing that mattered and worth a crap as well. Glad I finally realized I was wrong. Maybe you’ll get there one day too kiddo.

I see it as long time fans critiquing the current product.

WWE is watered down and generic. Scripted everything is incredibly bland and doesn’t allow the talent to get over on their own merits. AEW sometimes feels like an indy promotion and everything they’ve attempted to recycle from the Attitude Era comes off as a cheap rip off. (Ex: the golf cart of bubbly vs Austin’s beer truck)

Neither company is absolute garbage or without flaw.

I’ve been watching this shit for more than 30 years and if the Bucks and Omega are considered the “best in the world,” the industry is at its lowest point since 1995.
