CI Wrestling Thread #56

80s vignettes with "real" music. You can choose your own music for your "video". Whatcha got?

Me - "Wanted Man" by Ratt.

in the 90s, I looked a lot like Brian Christopher. I was 6-2, 240…would go to the gardens each week and would occasionally go to Memphis for TV and people would legit ask if we were brothers and am I running in during the matches. We’d joke that since he came out to Right Said Fred’s “I’m too sexy”, I should use the Revolting C*cks “Do ya think I’m sexy” remix of the Rod Stewart song.

and the ring rat thing? Lol.

WWE has set the bar so low even ROH shows might be better right now - I know it’s the long game with Roman but no way Edge takes the belt from him.

Miro is tearing it up with his promos. Interesting use of Christianity for a heel.
Saw him in the airport yesterday. Walked rig by by him actually. Was texting someone going to a terminal. These guys really aren’t as big in person as they look on tv.

I've stood right next to Kane, BIg Show, and Great Khali. Big Show is as big as he seems on TV. Kane is shorter. I was shocked at Khali. He was a good 5 inches shorter than he was booked

Is OVW every Friday? I’m going to Louisville in late august for my bachelor party pt. 1 and would love to go to a wrestling show.
They tape every Thursday at the Davis Arena in the Fern Creek/Buechel area of Louisville. Speaking of the Davis arena, it blows my mind that Cena, Brock, Orton all worked there on the regular.

I have a copy of the non-WWE Network version of Starrcade 1984.
Still cracks me up Dusty Rhodes came to the ring that night to “Purple Rain.”
Manny Fernandez’s song was “Beat It.”

That was so bad, lol

the worst theme song was Jeff Jarrett coming out to Simply irresistible during the 80s in Memphis. He’s singing about a girl, lol

Haha forgot about that - funny thing is I never saw Jarrett as a heel but I think he was his whole career after Memphis

It’s like watching a Roman match, you know he isn’t going to lose but I like to see how you get there.

Of course I say that and SuperCena will return and beat him at Summerslam.

It has to be Page that beats Omega, but how long do you put it off. Maybe one of the New York shows?

Man, I think they should have Omega win the IWGP title before losing the AEW title. Right now the impact title just doesn’t feel…. Impactful

Channel my inner Fabulous Ones with “Everybody Wants You.”
A guy can dream right???
I can't hear that song that I don't think of Stan Lane and Steve Kern walking down the isle with girls throwing themselves at them. 😂

I hate Baron Corbin with a passion as a “character” but apparently is the consummate professional and one of the best guys behind the scenes in WWE. I’ve heard everyone loves him and Vince is really high on him and how he carries himself. It’s been said that he is quick to volunteer his services to help new talent or talent who may go back to the PC searching for new direction as well as always be accepting of whatever role thrown at him. With the egos in the business, he probably is a breath of fresh air to have around, particularly now that he’s been there a few years and starting to earn some cred.

Two "milestones" from the last two days.

Ten years ago yesterday was the CM Punk "pipe bomb" promo.

23 years ago today was the Foley-Taker Hell In A Cell Match
