CI Wrestling Thread #56

DVR number are meaningless because you can fast forward through commercials. Might as well count people illegally streaming too.

Another week, another turd by WWE. I still prefer it over the AEW but just do not get what they are doing. I was entertained by the Shayna BS but at the end of the day, it was still BS and not pro wrestling. Here you have a legit badass being tormented by a 4'11" hot ass and an effing doll.

Drew and Bobby always bring it but how many times are we going to see this? It's becoming stale. What they should've done is if they were going to knock Drew off his perch, have him run another program but eventually earn that shot back. Stop putting him in 3 ways and rematches only to lead up to "The big rematch".

I love Kofi but he shouldn't have been put into that picture. Kofimania was a nice one off feel good story. I'm glad he had his moment. He deserved it because he seems to be a complete professional, but singles main eventer, he is not. No use in trying to recreate that. Now if they do something with the Hurt Business angle they teased then maybe something good will come from it. They're obviously putting some focus on the tag division so could we finally see a New Day Split? That would provide some great stories, although they're so over that you eventually have to pair them back up in time.

Ricochet, Carillo, and Sheamus are all great in the ring. They all give good matches, but this angle just doesn't do it for me. For as good as those two are, I just don't care for angles with mid card smaller guys vs. proven big guys like Sheamus. It wasn't 3 or 4 months ago that he was working angles with the face of the company for the title.

The shine that I liked most last night was Jaxson Ryker beating the hell out of Elias. That guy has some potential. Of course, I highly doubt you see him do anything more than that after his heat he got for defending Trump and speaking out with his conservative views but still, he's good.

Meltzer is the one who tweeted that Dynamite did 1.7 million viewers counting DVR, of course now I can't find that tweet.

By the way Pwinsider's Mike Johnson says there is no truth about Andrdae having creative control in AEW. For better (and worse) Tony Khan has the final say on everything.
Lol, I mean, I should’ve known it was Meltzer.

Yup pretty much spot on - as usual

I was today years old when I learned Macho Man put a rap album out in 2005....

(I decided against watching the Macho Man Doc on A&E, apparently it was mentioned there)

KMac already touched on it but WrestlingInc put out a correction article about Andrade. Said he has no creative control and that nobody else in AEW does either.

That’s true in a way. Khan is the one booking everything but the wrestler have control over their characters. Ethan Page said on Twitter the other day that AEW is the only company he’s every worked for that hasn’t told him how to act or what to do.

Damn... Lio Rush who was the joker in the battle royale at Double or Nothing has decided to retire. He separated his AC joint during the battle royale. He said AEW still offered to sign him even though they knew he had separated his AC. Said he would fulfill his contract with NJPW when he’s able and then he’s done after that.

I feel for him. He was about to have the best time of his career and now it’s gone.

Read today that Braun is asking five figures for an Indy booking, that’s crazy.

As usual thought NXT was a good show. Looking forward to Sunday.

Friends I present quite possibly the dumbest thing ever, and that's saying something. The "Fed" is the topper for me.

I don’t particularly “hate” AEW…I just hate they blew a good opportunity

I HATE the nba, so what the hell…I may sign it! Lol
It's clearly starting to show how many people are turning their backs on Lebron Queef. When he retires, i'm hoping things go back to the way they were. Unless he gets an NBA executive deal, which I can see.

What rating is the nba getting? I know it’s tanked over the last couple years but wonder what it’s drawing?

As bad as that is, it still doesn’t top the stupidity of people bashing AEW this week saying they’re exploiting Brodie Jr and trashing his mom too. One post that got me was a guy saying ‘his dad died like 6 months ago, way past time to move on.’

AEW put out the latest podcast episode yesterday and Brodie Jr was one of several ppl on it for about 10 minutes. He’s a natural even at his age. And he’s dead set on being a wrestler. Schiavone started to ask what he would do if he didn’t become a wrestler and Brodie stopped him before he could even finish his sentence. Said it’s all he’s wanted to do since he was 1 year old lol and that his dad was a wrestler and he’s going to be one too and that he wanted to continue his legacy.

HHH put his foot in his mouth on numerous topics yesterday. Managed to piss off both fans and wrestlers. That’s actually impressive.

😂 can’t believe he actually blamed the talent for not working out on the main roster.

That Austin video is great!

I listened to that conference call, HHH said a lot of odd things which isn't like him. Usually they are all "everything is great and we appreciate the fans, blah blah."

Part of me wonders if he and Steph are ticked at all the power Nick (Not Tony) Khan seems to have in WWE now.

I wouldn't put -1 on TV anymore either but that's just me. I read somewhere that he couldn't appear for a while because he got bad grades.

Finished the Bret Hart Biography, thought it was really good. While he and Shawn made up he still trashes Goldberg which I enjoyed.

Have the Dynamite Kid Dark Side recorded, will watch this weekend. Apparently Vice has a two hour thing about Chyna that's airing next week.

As always looking forward to Takeover tonight. Though at least for me there’s not as big of a buzz as usual.

The Most Wanted Treasures is Big Show and Mark Henry looking for Andre The Giant stuff. Otherwise known as “two guys who don’t work for WWE anymore.”

Apparently these were all shot back in 2019 and are just now airing.
