I gave Taker/Styles a pass, assuming it was a one time thing, Taker's last match, and whatever plans they had had to be scrapped because of the lockdowns. The fact that specially edited match now has a fancy name like cinematic match means it will continue in some form and be a thing in the future. I'm much more bothered by the zombies though. Cena had one bizarre, edited match with Bray and got out faster than you can say Prototype. He was smart. If he was around today, Vince would make him shit Chick-Fil-A sandwiches in the ring while a giant waffle fry mascot dances around him.

Funny you brought this up - recently Cena said he’s coming back and the bray thing was fantastic - but I think at this point Cena is one of the few (maybe only the rock/Austin) that can nix vince’s ridiculousness

I am sure it is much harder for creative to come up with ideas for heels now a days. I mean back in the day the easiest way to get heat on a heel was to make them a class of people that others hated like Russians, Middle Easterners, flamboyant gays, rednecks, etc. Now everyone gets offended and the cancel culture hounds will come for you if you do anything offensive so they have to find new ways to put heat on heels.

They just announced AEW Dynamite is moving to TBS in January with quarterly specials on TNT.

New show will be called Rampage and will air Friday at 10:00 pm. It starts Friday August 13th on TNT.

Is Rampage going be kind of like Dark with lesser names getting exposure on TV? I couldn’t see them loading up and doing a lot on Friday night at 10 PM.

I hope we actually see mid carders wrestle mid carders and stop with the jobbing bullshit on Dark. I think it ruined the SCU win or go home story. Doing majority of their matches on dark does not make you a number 1 contender and does nothing for us to get invested in them potentially winning the belts or retiring. Just a horrible idea.

Yes, I consider myself a fan of AEW but I have never watched any of their YouTube shows. They have leaned on padding people’s record that way a bit too much. There will be times people come out with these crazy records and I can’t remeber the last time they were on tv. SCU thing is a great example, and they dropped the ball on making people care that much- It was like oh well guess they aren’t a team anymore.

“Both TBS and TNT have an incredibly storied history with wrestling, so the idea of us being able to put more AEW onto TBS is a natural fit. Did the NHL have anything to do with it? Sure. NHL had something to do with it. NBA had something to do with it, the college schedule, the ton of preemptions. When we looked where the consumer’s gonna be, where wrestling fans were going to be, we want to give them the most opportunity to consume as many shows as possible. We felt TBS had an opportunity to be the network and the best platform for expansion," he said

Ditto. Just don't have time to watch Elevation, or Dark, or BTE, nor do I feel I'm missing anything by not watching a bunch of squash matches or wrestlers trying to do comedy.

Sticking with Dynamite, that's all the fandom that I have to spare.

I watch BTE but rarely watch Dark or Elevated Dark or whatever it's called. Unless there is someone I am interested in seeing or hear a match was really good.

I spent most of my time with the WWE Network watching the old stuff. Had just finished World Championship Wrestling through 1987 and Mid-Atlantic through 1982 when it went to Peacock. I have a feeling stuff like that will be the last to be uploaded. Though I think there are a couple of youtube channels that have it.

You can tell AEW usually knows where they want to start and finish with a fued/storyline, but at times they really struggle to keep you interested or tell a good story in between it all.

This is main complaint.

I think a lot of it is because some of their angles develop on YT shows that I don’t really have time to watch and they do a poor job of incorporating what happened in those shows on Dynamite other than scrolling results across the screen once or twice and episode.

Hopefully adding a second televised show will help with continuity.

Same. I even used to listen to the scrambled PPV feeds because my parents would never buy them for me. I remember listening the night Hogan turned heel and hearing his promo and also when Owen died. Like everyone else, I thought it was an angle but when I heard how broken up the announcers/Debra and Jarrett sounded, I just sat there numb.

It can be bad sometimes. Naito and Ibushi seemingly try to kill each other when they wrestle. Osperay is worse to me though because he actually said in an interview that "its what the fans want to see". Okada puts on great matches without landing on his head all the time.
