CI Wrestling Thread #56

Rough episode of collision tonight
I liked everything to varying degrees other than the Bang Bang Scissor Gang segment. Max with an all-time botch on his rap and the match was dumb with seemingly zero purpose behind it.

If it’s not going to be what amounts to a good exhibition match then at least have some purpose behind it.

The Acclaimed have run their course at this point, time to do something different with them or break them up.

FWIW Bronson Reed was supposed to be in the EC but his wife had a baby to that’s why
Lashley was in the match.

The thing that I worry about with AEW more than anything is that guys will get a push and that will be it for them. To the extent their push is taking place that's about all they'll ever be. I know the company is still young and not everyone can be pushed all the time but will anyone really care about the acclaimed in a year? These guys were one of the hottest tag teams in the industry and now who knows if they'll even be relevant.

There’s only so long a rap and scissoring gimmick can last before it gets stale. The crowd was decently hot last night but they didn’t give a damn about Max’s rap before he botched it.

Yep. They are going to have to evolve as they have gotten stale. But they’ve got decent personalities so I think they can hit on something else.

New Age Outlaws had the same "Oh, you didn't know??" schtick for a few years but it wasn't boring because they had DX shenanigans to fall back on and a solid tag division. The Acclaimed's short rap sessions and scissoring while drenched in pink cloth will only get them so far if they're not in interesting storylines. They should've always been in the tag title picture and I have no clue why Billy never turned on them and joined his sons. Why are they still a trio like they're The New Day or something? Now they've added more people so it's become a brightly colored, comedic nWo, only they don't do anything.

Some have evolved and AEW fans find them interesting (Christian, MJF, Bucks, Storm, Hart, Swerve).
Some haven't and imo they feel stale (Cassidy, Moxley, Claudio, Hook, Acclaimed, Sammy, Wardlow).

I want a Bowens singles run. Caster really only brings the raps to the table and he’s a walking HR headache.

I don’t even think the Acclaimed are even needed as a tag team anymore with the roster getting healthy.

I’m doing notes on the upcoming cornette show and he’s talking about the ridiculous WON awards…

They got to “Worst Gimmick”. Maybe it’s me, but shouldn’t the winner be Dax Harwood for continuously pretending he’s “old school”?

Kinda like how Jay White was the biggest free agent signing ever, was briefly elevated to the main event and now he’s in a 6-man comedy group. I don’t understand decisions like that.

Acclaimed also went from super over to mild applause. AEW has a problem keeping “hot” guys hot. Someone will get white hot, and then almost instantly they cool them off by putting them on Rampage or in some kind of dumb faction.

He's gotten into trouble more than once for the content of his raps. He had to go to HR training once and multiple times his raps have not aired on Rampage because of the content in it.
That’s because the idiots are running the asylum and tk has no authority.

Ya someone mentioned new age outlaws and they had hbk and hhh to keep them over and the heat was on x-pac so it was a perfect grouping.

Hot take: I like Nia's current run. The women's division needs a sloppy heel monster type the fans legit can't stand. Rhea is probably champion until WM41 so it's not like Nia is going to be women's champion anytime soon. If we're being honest, she makes the division more interesting.
