I agree with nightwish smack down is so much better than raw - smack down is loaded for 2 hours and raw is trying to fill 3 hours with a bunch of filler and would do a lot of good to be 2 hours - not sure if Netflix cares but in this case 2 is better than 3.

Doubt they paid that much money to get an hour less of Raw

You don't add another hour onto a live broadcast and then (years later) free yourself from that decision. It was a network call and the only way a network reverses course is if the first two hours do their usual 1.4ish mil and for whatever reason the third hour tanks bigtime. Fans would have to actively and publicly reject that last hour. It's why there's all day Super Bowl coverage, big PLE pre-show coverage, and two nights of WM totaling eight plus hours. Once you add, it's hard to just take that back, even if Trips wants to. Unfortunately I think we're stuck with three hour Raws.

Some of them are just lazy and don't want to put in the work or too snobby and think they are too good to do any wrestling that's not on TV. There's a reason why the ones improving the most are the ones going out doing indie shows as much as possible while the ones who aren't are the ones being stagnant.

Sure, should AEW be running house shows? Ideally, yes, but with their attendance problems that's not a justifiable expense.

So the individual talents need to start putting in the work on their own instead of waiting for AEW to do it for them.
...which I believe was the intent of AEW from the start. WWE is trying to block AEW by bidding up middling talent, so AEW grabs what's available. They try to gain regional support by bringing in hometown talent to get the locals to buy in, then grow aggressive from there. But that strategy failed because TK wanted to buy making AEW's way into beating WWE. So he started throwing money at WWE's released talent (maybe that was WWE's intent? bwahahaha) . Which didn't sit well with current talent, which led to the gripe-bomb, which puts us where we are now:

Raw is pretty predictable most weeks.

-20 minutes in ring talk segment to start the show
-Intro the first match
[Commercial]
-First match begins with about 3 minutes of action
[Commercial]
-Match ends around 3-4 minutes
-Backstage segment
[Commercial]

-Talk segments to begin each hour on most Raws

-Main event intro with one competitor in ring around 30-35 minutes left in the show
[Commercial]
-Video segment
-Backstage segment
-Waste time with more talk
[Commercial]
-Intro of the second main event competitor with about 20 some minutes left
-3 minutes of action
[Commercial]
-4-5 minutes of action
[Commercial]
-Main event and show ends with a few minutes of action

Wash, rinse, repeat next week

There wasn’t enough legwork done on some of these ex-WWE talents to determine if they would be a good cultural and attitude fit for AEW. Just because someone is a talented ex-WWE wrestlers doesn't mean they are going to fit into AEW.

Did these people want to stay in WWE and got fired against their will? Then yeah they probably aren't to be happy with anything other than WWE even if they never amounted to shit in WWE. I'm talking people like Andrade, Buddy Matthews, Miro, etc. Which is entirely their choice and there is nothing wrong with it, but they shouldn't have ever been in AEW. If they want to get back to WWE, then let them go work for a hod dog and a handshake on the indies in front of 200 people at a local armory like they are back on the NXT house show circuit to get the attention of WWE execs, maybe it will humble them up in the process. But don't let them use AEW as a mere layover until HHH comes calling.

Or did these people want to leave WWE, got their release or were denied their release numerous times, or were essentially deadset on leaving WWE when their contract expired? Then yeah, chances are they will be happy outside the WWE because they didn't want to be there anymore. I'm talking guys like Swerve, FTR, Moxley, etc. Chances are, they aren't going to want to go back to WWE unless they self-destruct like CM Punk and their only option for a big paycheck is crawling back to WWE.

But it’s funny how basically every single one of the ex-WWE talents that never wanted to leave WWE and haven't panned out in AEW because they think they are too good for AEW were all largely nobodies in WWE. Yet guys like Swerve, FTR, and Moxley, have all were or are top guys in AEW.

That’s why I’m glad TK has kept away from signing any of the ex-WWE talents from the most recent wave of firings. Let them prove themselves elsewhere first, see if they can be happy and out in the high level work outside the limelight. The roster is stacked to the point where AEW certainly does not need to be a charity case for anyone.

We already see which ones would be potential good additions to AEW if that’s something TK wants to explore - Mustafa Ali, Nick Nemeth, and the Maximum Male Models. They're going all out with in-ring and character work all over the place working as much as possible in the indies, and in the case of Ali and Nemeth, also in TNA and New Japan.

The other ex-WWE talent? Well Matt Riddle maybe, but he’s got to prove he can keep his head on straight. The rest don’t seem overly interested in doing much in wrestling anymore.

If TK would have had this patience with some of these ex-WWE talents back in 2021 then we never end up with some of these malcontent pissants in AEW.

Wrestlemania most likely matches
Seth/Cody vs Rock/Roman
Rhea/Becky
Bayley/Iyo
LA Knight/AJ
Drew/Seth
Paul/Orton
Judgement Day vs Miz/Truth
Cody/Roman
Jay/Jimmy
Street Profits vs Final Testament

Not sure on these:
Gunther/?
Kabuki Warrior/?

Also not sure what they do with KO, Sami, Solo, Liv, Tiffany and Bianca but you know those will have something.

From what I’ve seen they’ll prob do tiff/liv and I figured they’d do Bianca/jade - KO feels lost in the shuffle a bit which sucks

Sami vs Gunther seems like a smart play. You don't have a storyline with empty arena interviews coupled with weekly losses and thoughts of championship gold without a payoff. And Gunther needs to move to the next level soon. Can see him winning the Rumble next year.

I don’t buy Gunther. Jey/Gunther to WM would make sense until they randomly had His brother interfere.

Didn’t like the AJ Styles interference on LA Knight and thought it would have made a lot more sense to have Knight in the last two instead of Orton.

I’m an Orton stan and couldn’t tell if it was legit hurt or a work, but if it’s a work where now for Orton?

You might be one of the few then lol.

- Gunther is an old school heel with a simplistic, old school look
- Legitimately great in the ring
- The presentation is again, simplistic but effective. The columns on the tron, music, The Ring General name, etc. is on point.
- Solid mic work

Wish more heels acted like him, ie proud and arrogant but will also give a face credit occasionally in a dickish way. It's one reason why I wish they'd drop the sword cgi stuff with Drew. He's not William Wallace. Now can Gunther draw as a world champion? I think so but we'll need to see.

For those that don't have Cable or Satellite TV, how do you watch Raw and Smackdown Weekly? I've got to get rid of Direct TV. My bill has skyrocketed this year.

Both are on Hulu, even if you don't have live, the next day. Believe it or not, a heavily edited, commercial free hour and a half Raw is enjoyable to watch. They cut out the stuff everyone complains about being filler.

Maybe it's been mentioned but I think we're getting Bloodline interference which causes a Rollins loss since he's put himself into the situation and Drew has recently taken advantage of said interference. This all likely ends at WarGames. Bloodline loses, egos clash between Roman and Rock, at some point Solo sides with Rock, Roman "fires" Heyman and turns, and there's your WM41 night two main event with Reigns winning as a face. Give me Booker of the Year, nerd voters!

Like I said would happen…

Eddie was on commentary for a match featuring his PPV opponent against one of his heroes in Jun Akiyama. Danielson beat Akiyama. And Danielson disrespected Akiyama right in front of Eddie.
